U.S. team plays a man short, goes down fighting in loss to Nigeria

Soccer is the best sport in the world. I do not understand why people do not love this sport!!!!!

People in the U.S. don't like soccer for one reason: It's not football, baseball, or basketball.

How the mighty have fallen. To think that the U.S. was 30 seconds from advancing to the medal rounds (thanks for the stupid foul, Stuart Holden) and now they're out of the Olympics.

Expect to see Peter Nowak named as L.A. Galaxy coach within a week.

Horrible red card given by the official, stupid foul but not worthy of a red card 3 minutes into the match. Hard to say what the outcome would have been, but very unfortunate that because of a referees power trip, we will never know

Maybe outside of North America, but not here. Yes, I know its popular for kids to play, but that's because its less expensive to play and we all know that in Utah, if its cheap, its popular.

...you cant blame Stuart Holden, who scored against Japan. Or should we blame Klejstan, who jumped in the wall, or how about Orozco, for the red card, shoot, throw in McBride...for not scoring.

This is a team game, 1-1-1 is about how i thought we would finish. Hopefully we continue to get better on the world level.

The USA clearly has the player talent to compete at this level, what they don't have is the coaching. Nowak and Bradley are amateur at best when compared to the rest of the football world. They are just not capable of coaching these kids to a new level. It is time for the US to clean house, humble themselves and go get some international coaches and the time is now or come 2010 in SA we will get the same type of result that we have been getting.

You could pretty much see this one coming as soon as the US conceded the equalizer with the Dutch. Unfortunately the national team has not been able to get results when it needs them. Look at the last few international tournaments and you can see what I mean. The lone exception was the gold cup vs. Mexico, but the Mexican team has problems of their own. I don't know if it is coaching or lack of team leadership, but there needs to be a fundamental attitude change. Sometimes it seems like being there is good enough. The team needs to get to the next level. Hopefully the senior team will focus on that in the build up to 2010.

U.S. dissapoints again!!! I was impressed with the U.S.'s skills and passing throughout the olympics; however, they make the dumbest mistakes. The dude deserved that red card. What I found coincidental is that the U.S. loses more than likely because of a red card, and Netherlands win on a P.K. with 15 minutes remaining. Seems a little odd to me. I don't know if the P.K. was legit, so it is pure speculation. It is time for a complete makeover in U.S. soccer coaching. Nowak is a good coach, but we need a great coach. I still can't believe the U.S. let Klinsmann go. U.S. will never prove to the world its improvement in soccer if it can't perform at the top levels of competition.

Peter Nowak should be out, he obviously can't coach kids cause thats who he is responsible coaching, me had horribly subs through out the tournament and in my personal opinion made three poor choices with his overaged player spots. I'm not saying he is a bad coach but I just don't think he can coach young kids, just look how he struggled with Freddy Adu when they were at DC together. But in the end the US has no one to blame for themselves for blowing it against the Dutch cause that game was in hand until Holden made that stupid stupid foul. Oh well, it happens but I can't wait for 2010
