MonaVie doesn't translate to "Tree of Life" in Portuguese. Is this an error on the part of the DN writer, or has Henry Marsh forgotten how to speak the language?
RE: Amigo | 4:23 a.m. Aug. 12, 2008
Good catch. Neither MonaVie, nor Mona, nor Vie, is even similar to any Portuguese words I can think of! "Tree of Life" would be "rvore da Vida."

I was glad to see the headline mentioning Mr. Marsh's business success. His is a name I remember from when I was a little kid. I was somewhat disappointed when I clicked through to the article and saw that it was multi-level marketing. But if he is running an honest business, I'm happy for him.

Great article. Having recently printed at Monavie's Income Disclosure Statement, (comparing it to others in the market), I find in refreshingly honest, and impressive. (It is publicly available online).

It is about time a company tells everyone what the minimum, maximum and average someone can make at every rank with the average number of hours and the number of people at each rank.

Whether or not the product is worth the cost could be debated by some, but they do have a good product that is good for people, and they are doing good things in Brazil.

Congrats to Henry Marsh for bringing some respect to an industry that has lost it over the years.

What, were suppose to be impressed with this guy? Here's my new goal in life: Make note in Franklin Planner; "Have house overlooking Temple". Give me a Break.

watching Henry Marsh running steeplechase races, when I was a lad. He was always an inspiring sight to behold and I do hope that this business that he co-founded works out for him and the people working for him...

I just want to say Henry is one of the smartest, most likable and generous people I have ever met. He cares deeply for his family and loves his friends and uses his money to help them. I don't know much about this business of his and have mixed feelings about MLMs but that's what I've observed of Henry as a person.
Go Henry! He kept on looking.. | 10:41 a.m. Aug. 12, 2008
Henry is as ethically sound as a person can get, as I've seen him work in some of his previous ventures. Notice how Henry tried other business models that didn't work for him, but kept on looking until he found the right model. Isn't that what we should all do? Good for you, Henry. Prove the naysayers wrong!

I don't really have an opinion on multi level marketing or fruit juice. Everyone has the right to spend their time in an MLM organization if they want to. If people want to spend their money on juice that's fine with me too.

However, Henry Marsh was an incredible athlete! I loved watching him run the steeplechase. He is a pretty amazing individual too. It's very commendable that an individual could train and compete at a world class level and still have the discipline and energy to get a law degree. As far as his business goes... yes, not everyone involved is going to make money, but guess what? Not every guy that puts on a pair of running shoes is going to end up in the Olympics. Henry has done well in athletics and in business. I'm glad that he is able to handle the critics that try to tear him down. It's something all successful people must learn to deal with... and Henry has done it with class.

How can a company that had 380 million in sales a few months ago, now be a billion dollar company? read the fine print on the disclosre very well. HYPE HYPE HYPE

actually "my life" in french would be "ma vie"
at first i thought it was a clever play on words, because if you say "mon avis" (pronounced, mon - a - vee) it can mean, my opinion, or my advice, depending on how you use it..... just interesting to play with, for what it's worth.

Go Henry Go!

I have been fortunate to know Henry personally and praise him for his success. He took a risk, and with hard work, and a never give up attitude is now reaping the reward. Because of his efforts, those who know him, and have taken the risk with him have done very well.

Henry is a class act - Thank you to Henry for being a positive part of our society - his actions should teach us that with hard work and diligence we can achieve!

Great Book | 7:00 p.m. Aug. 12, 2008
I recently purchased Henry's book which I might add is a great read. I might even splurge on a bottle of his fancy juice to drink while I finish the final chapters of the book. Henry has proved to be a great marketer and models it, in and through the article. Can't wait to meet him and cycle for one of his worthy causes.
By their works..... | 8:01 p.m. Aug. 12, 2008
By their works, ye shall know them.
Jimmy | 1:53 p.m. Aug. 14, 2008
The article didn't say this, but Henry started a charity organization which he funds almost completely by himself.

They have found those in need from word of mouth and paid their bills, bought them food, and kept them in their houses.

Go ahead and bash MLMs, but get to know Henry before you say anything negative about him.

I can just imagine how much effort these whiners put into any business they get involved in. Like any business, you can't just plant one seed and expect a whole freakin' field to spring up, you have to put a seed in each location that you want a plant to appear, and it really helps if you water those seeds. We call that support in the industry. Please just get a clue, go do the DSA or the MLMIA or the MLM-DRA or any of the other credible non profit sites from around the world instead of some that and not some MLM hate site wher
JC, thanks for Monavie!! | 6:54 p.m. Aug. 18, 2008
I have met Henry personally and was very impressed with his honesty and the caring heart he has for people. I was there in Utah when we raised, in less than 3 hours, 1 million and 30,000 dollars for the kids in Brazil. Every pennie goes to them. I wanted to see for myself heart of the mangement team and if I wanted to be a part. I got more than I could ever asked for. I came home and started sharing this wonderful juice and less than 6 months I was able to do more than 30 years in the building biz. I have worked all my life as a business owner and have mortgaged my home and borrowed lots of money to buy a job. Now for $39.00 I am building a distibutorship with many people who have the same chance as I do, to get off the couch and make a difference. I thank God for this business called Monavie, I would have lost everything after working so hard because of this wonderful economy. All business can be bad whether MLM or not. Let the people have a chance for a change instead of the Ceo. Thanks!
Not that great | 7:26 p.m. Aug. 18, 2008
1-14% of people in juice marketing scams make money.

100% of the door greeters at the local mega mart make money.

Choose wisely your career path. Juice marketing scams arent that great...

Henry Marsh, Dallin Larsen and the Monavie empire has done more for the country and the world in just three years, then most companies do in an entire lifetime. The corporation pays out 50% of the gross back to all it's distributor base. How much of that 50% is up to the individual who works for a piece of it. So they promote good health with a unique and consumable product and give you the opportunity to work at financial wealth. How can anyone have anything negative to say about that?? To all the nay-sayers who have knowledge without research. Look closer at what is bringing hope and opportunity to the masses. Finally a company who is for the distributor and the world. Thank you Henry for being great and giving others the opportunity to do the same!!!!
omni properties | 2:45 p.m. Aug. 20, 2008
Wow!! What an amazing article. This goes to show the integrity and management associated with MonaVie. My business partner benchmarked 1800 home based businesses and discovered that MonaVie was the #1 company to join our over 200K community of IBO's with. Their management team and product was why. A world class product joined to the #1 leadership development system for 9 years straight can only define sweet success! This I know to be true!
Reading the negative comments makes me realize how fortunate I am not to think like 95% of Americans. Introduce yourself to great books like "The Next Millionaires" or "The New Wellness Revolution" by Paul Z. Pilzer and any Robert Kiyosaki books. Those clearly describe that MonaVie is on the right track. There are 3 types of people....those that make it happen, those that watch it happen, and those that wonder "what happened?". As a single parent who just achieved the Silver level in 4 months,{29K/yr.extra}, I am following those that are not only making it happen, but are determined to make it happen for others!! MonaVie will be a household word!!
My humble thanks to Dallin Larsen and his amazing vision. TEAM MonaVie for life!!

I am a MonaVie employee. I don't distribute the product but i assist the distributors that call into our company. I find my job very rewarding. I love knowing that we are making a difference in the community. I get paid very well, we have great insurance and many other amazing benefits. Dallin, Henry and the other founders are very considerate and want nothing but the best for the distributors and the many MonaVie employees. I have been here for almost 2 years now and love it here!! What an amazing company to work for. I wish everyone had the opportunity to see how this company runs and how well we are treated.
Anonymous Omni Inspired | 8:15 a.m. Aug. 28, 2008
Anonymous writes that they get great benefits, pay, and insurance by working for the company. They say that they dont distribute the product, though. So, I guess that is the key to pyramid success. Work at the top of the pyramid for pay, benefits, and insurance. Eveyone else, sorry, keep working.

Omni writes that if we don't trust pyramids, then we need to study more. No, Omni, you need to study more. You will see that even according to this company, very few people actually make money selling the product. You need to get a good job at the top of the pyramid like anonymous if you want to succeed.

Reading Inspired's comments, I was not sure if I was reading something about a church. Nope, it was all about a pyramid corporation trying to get money from people.

Be wary of pyramid schemes. Very few people make money from them. The health benefits can be found in other products. Save your money in our down turned economy.

Invest your money wisely, and eat healthy. But always stay away from these pyramid corporations. They are out to get money at all costs.
Direct Marketing Vs Pyramid Mtg. | 8:26 a.m. Aug. 28, 2008
Lets get one thing straight. There is a stark chasm of difference between a pyramid network marketing company and a direct sales company.

There have been many direct marketing companies that have become market leaders in their respective product industries. Direct marketing companies make money from product sales. They are just like any company on the market where there is money to be made by producing a competitive product, and offering it to consumers. Direct marketing companies say they offer a lower price because they cut out all the different people between product manufacture, and the consumer. The sales people, how do they make money? Commission sales, just like any other sales corporation.

This pyramid network marketing scam is not a direct sales company. Do not compare it to a direct sales company. This company makes money regardless of whether consumers purchase the product or not. They make money by creating a pyramid structure and requiring their people to support the pyramid by purchasing set amounts of product (for this scam it is 7 bottles a month).

So don't compare this pyramid snakeoil company with other respected industry leaders.

Pyramids cant compare ethically and performance-wise against other companies. They cannot.
Antioxidants in Acai and others | 9:27 a.m. Aug. 28, 2008
The Acai berry is not the only nutrient-rich plant out there.

To be sure, there are nutrients found in the Acai berry. The acai berry is considered by medical doctors to be a "superfood" superfoods are rich in vitamins and minerals. Superfoods provide multiple benefits, and help with our overall health.

We should all eat plenty of these superfoods.

Want to know what else doctors consider to be super foods that can be easily grown in Utah?

Blueberries
Broccoli
Pumpkln
Raspberries
Spinach
Tomatoes

By the way, these are just the ones that can be easily grown in Utah's climate.

Don't buy into the acai hype. There are a multitude of plants and fruits and vegetables that can compete directly with the acai berry as a superfood.

If you really, really want to have the acai berry, there are a multitude of other companies (with higher quality) that offer it on the market. You don't have to deal with a scheme in order to get it.

My suggestion, though. Save your money. Plant your garden with other superfoods that are just as good if not better than the acai berry.

Pyramids just want your money. Don't buy into all the hype.
Dan Dimit | 2:13 a.m. Jan. 27, 2009
1-14% make money in network marketing. Guess what? It's the same number of people that make money in their own business, no matter what the industry.

There's only 3% of the population that are wealthy. Similar number...wonder why? Could it be because they started a business and worked harder and smarter than the other 97% of America instead of complaining about the situation and asking for handouts?

Most people fail in MLM because they aren't consistent with their efforts and they give up too easily. It's the same reason most people fail in other industries, as well as losing weight, relationships, running a marathon, learning a foreign language, any new year's resolutions, etc.

It's the same statistic-- the 80/20 rule.

Quit complaining and get off your tail.
Dan forgot other statistics | 9:18 a.m. March 23, 2009
Dan forgot other "failure" statistics related to snakeoil sales.

When the pyramid company (such as this one) requires the worker to purchase a set amount of product each month, the company is going to make money regardless of how hard the worker is working.

The statistics are a little bit more tilted against pyramid sales.

And working harder won't help, when the cards are stacked against the worker.

I am a college educated adult. I have a documented 140 IQ. I paid my OWN way through college. I grew up poor, in a rough part of the city, the middle son of a uneducated, single mother. I am nobody's fool, believe me. I am a Monavie Distributor.
I have owned several successful companies. I enrolled as a distributor because I trusted the person who introduced me, and because I am smart enough through my education and real world experience to know a good thing when I see it. I do not normally participate or respond to whiney-ass, ignorant posts. I speak my mind, think what I think, and work my rear off to have what I have. As a natural born "opportunity seeker" I gravitated to this industry. I relish the fact that I have helped more people in the past year through Monavie, than I have in my previous 30 years in the "job" market. To all of those who choose to remain ignorant and critical to the benefits of this product and business model, don't worry, you're not on my list, I only choose winners not whiners.

Hi Henry, I was in your ward at BYU back when.I remember being very impressed with you as a person then and I am so excited for your major successes in life. I know the Lord has blessed your efforts to be a blessing to others. I would love to share with you what I am doing, I am now an award winning Gospel, singer, songwriter, and have won Entertainer, vocalist, songwriter of the year for 4 years now with the NACMAI North American Country Music Assoc. Int. I am going to be doing a christian radio talk show highlighting spiritual music , health and nutrition and would love to highlight Mona-vie as well and would be a blessing if MonaVie would like to be a sponsor. I would love to hear from you, don't know if you remember me, you can see my picture in the Year Book. I am attempting to use my talents to help others with their health and well being. Wishing you blessings, Kathryn Holloman Adams
Making Money | 2:38 p.m. June 24, 2009
If this is such a scam, then why have I met and spent time with dozens of millionaries of MonaVie, local individuals who own their own private jet, drive a black Mercedes given to them by Monavie, helping with the MORE project in Brazil, spent weeks enjoying life all over the world paid for by the company, and much more, I can't list everything. Henry and partners have an incredible company and you shouldn't mock it if you have never experienced the chance to spend time with them. It gives the oridinary individual the chance to make what he wants of himself and to make a difference in life of others putting God first, family second and MonaVie third. Let's continue to make a difference in the lives of others. GO MONAVIE!!!
Hope you are kidding...? | 1:56 p.m. July 2, 2009
I know these pyramid snakeoil companies enjoy a cult-like following...

But

"God first, family second, and MonaVie third..."

Seriously.

Utah is not the bankruptcy capital of the US on accident...
Who Cares? | 7:29 a.m. Aug. 9, 2009
There is a name for people who will pay forty dollars for a 25½—ounce bottle of fruit juice.  They are called “suckers”.
Hey - 'Who Cares?' | 3:52 p.m. Sept. 21, 2009
You sure have spent a large amount of time over the last year being a keyboard commando. Shooting @ anyone with any positive words and repeating your mantra! "pyramid snakeoil"

This article was about Mr. Marsh and his past efforts & his current company. Why so Bitter?

You hide behind your Anger @ what I would guess is an expensive past failure in the Network Marketing field maybe even that most famous A.... which became Q.... And now back to A...

I will say that plenty of people care about the character of a man and what he stands for. Henry Marsh appears to be one of those men we know of as 'having High Moral Character' & that is lacking in the top leaders of many US Companies.

Hurray for Mr. Marsh.
Dianne | 8:04 a.m. Sept. 23, 2009
Maybe people should start by looking at the fact that pyramids are illegal. This is a multi level marketing company (direct selling)anyone from the bottom can come up and make more money then the people above them. You could not do that in a pyramid which is why they are illegal. Before being so negative about Monavie maybe you should try it first. It has made a huge difference in my life physically, as well as others that I know. So say what you will but until you have actually used the product your opinion doesn't count. You are right there are other superfoods, but this one has the highest orac score if properly harvested. Do a little more research and you will find that fruits and veggies today on the market do not carry the same antioxident level they used to due to the way things are harvested, stored, etc. Fruits are at their best when grown in the wild and even organically. In 1951 a woman could eat 2 peaches a day and get the RDA of Vit. A, today she would have to eat 53 peaches to get that same RDA. Monavie what a blessing!
