If cougars eat 2 deer a week as rumored, and we have 3,000 cougars in the state, that's a lot of dead deer! The world has gotten along just fine without sabre-toothed tigers, wooley mammoths and the T-Rex. Why not without cougars, polar bears, grizzly bears, sharks and other monsters that eat humans?

Wow, sounds like the opposite end of extreme environmentalists. The world needs predators. Keep in mind that humans kill more humans than all the other predators combined. Maybe you think we should get rid of them too.

Take some classes in population dynamics and natural selection, "Dead Deer". And read "Monster of God" by Dave Quammen. Anyone who decribes a cougar as a "monster" should consider professional help.

"That's part of the challenge enjoyed by hunters"

Come on!How is it a challenge to wait for the radio tagged dogs to chase a cougar while you hang out and wait for the signal to stop moving, then walk up and shoot the cougar out of a tree with a 22 cal pistol? About as sporting as bear baiting in springtime. Not a real hunt unless your the dog.

Payaso, I can tell you've never been on a couger hunt. Please don't talk about things you know nothing about. By the way, most couger hunts are really just chases and end by letting the lion go.

Well no wonder I have heard stories in the area about guys going up on Monroe Mountian and running into these things. I worries me because so many people go up on this Mountian, what happens if we run into a cougar? I think they need to start hunting more, for the saftey of us Monroeians!
