Good article but I think most people who read it will not admit they don't understand it.Personally I see it as the beginning of a chapter of a book to be written. Thanks.

What wouldn't people understand? It is a simple concept that my youngest children can grasp. When we truly serve, we feel uplifted and therefore "better" or more energetic. Being idle in our "entertainment" does nothing to refresh us whereas active entertainment invigorates us. Activity in a worthwhile endeavor, whether it is service to others or service to our own personal temple (i.e., body) is always more invigorating. It is the longevity of the effect that defines whether something is invigorating or stimulating. The former improves us while the latter actually wears us down.

JERRY JOHNSTON is my favourite writer.I just began reading and copying the articles since last month.i dont know much about mormonism.i am catholic.The articles help me to understand things about mormon better.I gain much from my this new habit.I just feel falling in love with the way of life of mormon.Deep down i feel fit in the mormonism,although we dont share the same beliefs in some doctines.Anyway,i look forward to the next issues.Thanks for writting such wonderful articles.

You ought to know that so-called LDS "Selflessness" is anything but!

LDS people perform apparent selfless acts of service to earn their rewards in heaven! Everything they do is first and foremost motivated by their ambition to become like God and be blessed with eternal life for themselves.

That isn't truly selfless. In fact, it is the epitome of selfish!

Jerry, I told my wife this morning, as I was reading your article to her, that I hope you never retire. I need such positive things in my life. You have truly been given a special gift and I appreciate you sharing with us.
