Get your list of excuses ready, BYU fans. Your gonna need 'em.
BYU is going to have an outstanding season. No excuses needed.
It's funny that some Utah fans are in full lather hoping that all of BYU's starters go down with injuries. They must be scared to death that their beloved Utes won't have a chance against a full-strength BYU team in November.
Take this to the bank and draw interest on it. The Utes will lose at Michigan, Ute fans will turn on the team, and they will call for the head of Whittingham....same tune, different year! All this after the first game!
I am looking forward to UTAH being at full strength for a change.
The last three years, Utah has had issues at QB and elsewhere, going into the rivalry game.
'05 Starting QB injured, won with a backup QB.
'06 Starting QB redshirting, one play away from winning with backup QB.
'07 Starting QB playing with seperated shoulder, starting RB out for the season with injury, best WR out for the season with injury, best OL out for the season with injury, and the list of additional players playing with sprains and strains was every bit as long as what BYU was dealing with. Again, just one play away from winning.
Yes, UTAH at full strength is TERRIFYING for BYU fans. UTAH WILL WIN MORE GAMES THAN BYU THIS YEAR, UTAH WILL WIN THE MWC, UTAH WILL WIN ANOTHER BOWL GAME.
EVERY college football team suffers injuries. The problem for Utah hasn't been injuries, it's been inconsistency. How else do you explain being able to beat OOC teams and bowl opponents, but losing to mediocre MWC teams, IN THE SAME season?
The injury excuse is getting old. Time for Utah players to man up and stop using injuries as an excuse for losing to mediocre teams.
If Utah was capable of beating UCLA at home, they were certainly capable of beating UNLV on the road, the very next week, and Air Force at home. It wasn't Utah's injury-riddled offense that gave up 27 points to UNLV. Utah's supposedly "superior" defense made a very pedestrian runner, Frank Summers, look like an MVP.
Frank Summers:
vs Utah: 29 att, 190 yards, 6.6 avg, 2 TDs
vs BYU: 13 att, 50 yards, 3.8 avg, 0 TDs
Let's see Utah QB out with shoulder seperation, BYU QB plays with shoulder seperation.
I hope both teams are undefeated come November 22 and BYU wins 100-0. What a great day that would be.
I wonder what Utah's excuses will be this year.
Utah should win the "Excuse Bowl" hands down this year.
But I guess there can be exceptions: Utah football last year.
When BYU show up at LES North, and trounces a healthy Utah team, that's were excuses come in.
