Teachers could save gas money as well as the schools. Both need every penny they can get.
As far as a model for schools, is that how we learn best? Lots of hours in fewer days? Probably just burn out everyone involved...and when burn out sets in, no amount of hours will be sufficient. Why not try fewer hours on more days spread throughout the year?

Leadership: we may be heading in the wrong direction but we're making good time.

My sister works for the state. She left her home at 7 am and rode frontrunner to work, which took 1 and a half hours. With commute time, she will not return home until 8:30 tonight. Her children will be away at school no Fridays when she has time off. This schedule is completely unworkable with children.
