Chaplains serve on front lines of empathy

The chaplains are awesome. They do good work. Great story.

We don't have to be an "official" chaplain to achieve service to our fellow soujourners here on earth.
A big heart, a willing mind, a sweet unconditional spirit with a desire to love and lift is available to us all, within us all, IF we would choose to "yield" to that enticing spirit.....to that child of God within us all.
Let us change our part of the world to a better place of empathy and consideration by not only smiling, a kind word, a soft touch (appropriate of course), by by BEAMING out of our hearts...an aura of LOVE and BROTHERHOOD. Life is so hard, these times call for a reversal to displaying and sharing the BEST part of ourselves to others. SHARE the LOVE. God Bless Everyone.

Outstanding and uplifting article.Well done to Jennifer at the Deseret News. It is nice to hear how a group of chaplains from a diversity of faith traditions can learn and serve side-by-side and particularly in caring for America's veterans.

My experience with the VA chaplain residents in my many hsopitilizations, has been phenomenal! They are supportive, loving and will give you all the time that you would need to heal. I like that there are a lot of faith traditions represented because the patients are from a wide range as well and I think that is a big plus! God bless this program and think you George E. Whalen VA for allowing such a great group to be at your service.

Congratulations to the Chaplains and to those that train,teach,and care for them. They not only provide comfort in times of need but play an important role in saving lives and souls. They are heros in every way. Great job!!!

I completed the Dept of VA course "Spiritual & Medical Dimensions of Healing the Poor" program at the SLC VAMC in '92 when I was a volunteer there also serving with Pastor Davis at Calvary in SLC. This chaplaincy program taught by Pastor Dave, who pastored the local UMC, continues to be a great investment in training that has helped me in ministering to disabled vets through the years. Congrats to all of you who completed the full Chaplaincy program!!! Rev. Council
