I am getting way way tired of self-proclaimed patriots trying to exonerate the criminals of this corrupt administration I mean, WHAT DOES IT TAKE to make it clear that this war was, and is, a mistake of 100-year proportions? many of these innocents are DEAD (i.e., no longer alive) directly as a result of operations initiated by America and its allies the Muslim extremists you mention WOULDNT EVEN BE in Iraq were it not for Bush and Cheneys arrogant adventure liberation? the main thing this administration has helped to liberate in Iraq is arms and legs and heads FROM BODIES.

Post 1:11 I have a question. Have you ever asked any Iraqi man, woman, or child what they think? I have on many occasions, they seek out US soldiers and tell us thank you.

Was it a mistake to free people from terror? That's a question that should have an obvious answer to any one with even a bit of dignity in them.

We should have done this back in 1991, but the Libs in Congress said no. How many people would have lived otherwise. I for one am quite happy with the job my brothers, sister and I (in a small way) have done.

I don't expect people to understand what it's like. That's why we have a military so they don't have to know. One thing that even the most hate filled person has to acknowedge is that there has not been another attack on US soil.

I remember being told when I was young that you shouldn't judge a man tell you walked in his shoes. I wear a pair of combat boots, you can get your own at the nearest recruiting office.

Just like the bogus neocon ideology of ridding the world of "The Red Menace" - you are never going to rid the world of Islamofascism by blowing their countries and civilians to smithereens.

It's a karma thing.

So what kind of Karma do you get if you stand by and do nothing?

If you saw a woman being attacked on your block would you just walk by? Seems that's what a lot of these anti any government I didn't elect seem to say.

I always love it when neocons, stumped for an intelligent and logical response to a simple comment, turn towards the hypothetical. (see Devil 4:10)
With the country, the world, and perhaps even God wanting America out of Iraq - I can see more and more postings of neocons freaking out.

Funney thing is I'm not a member of the GOP. Anonymous 5:15 it seems you bulk at answer a very simple question. I guess women every where are save near you eh?

The world wants us out fair enouph. Lets leave when the Iraqi government asks us to. Fair don't you think.

I have no quarrel with you ... you and your fellow soldiers are one of the few positives in this ugly equation ... I'm certain that there have been successes in Iraq, as you have pointed out, and that some Iraqis appreciate your efforts ... but you really can't make me believe that no innocent blood has been spilled ... many, many soldiers and civilians are DEAD ... you should know that, ANYONE should know that ... you have a different perspective than me and I respect that ... I also commend you for your calm tone ... But, I also have my perspective and maybe together we can approach the truth so, thank you for your service, but I still don't think the Iraq war has been worth the cost of the blood and money that has been wasted ... I think the effort should have been made elsewhere, if it's really terrorism that the U.S. wants to contain ... I think Bush and Cheney had other motives, hence my outrage Not everyone is young enough to be a soldier but we all can work to make our elected officials accountable for their actions.

The war on Iraq is an unpopular war.
Just like Vietnam.
Vietnam went on for over 10 [bleepin'] years!
One of the presidential candidates said the war on Iraq may go for 100 years.

Don't hold your breath. Lots of money is being made in defense and weaponry. Not cars. Not real estate. Not any manufacturing. Only in war are people getting filthy rich.

As has been stated better than I can; most of the people who hawkishly support this lying and greedy administration, have never, would never and will never serve their country in any way other than put on a lapel pin. I am a proud Marine (there's no such thing as an "ex-Marine") who served in the Saigon evac.I am also a teacher and when students ask me if I liked my time in the service I answer yes. When they ask me if I would enlist today, I tell them absolutely not. If anyone wants to question my patriotism or my love of country, they might want to first make certain they have good dental coverage.

Ah, yeah. The war may go on for a while. We're not talking war against a country or countries. We're talking about war against an ideology.

Am I good with that? Yes.
Have we been attacked since the 'corrupt administration' took action? No.
When we wanted to wage war against terrorism in the courts, how successful was that? Not.

Do innocents get hurt/killed in war? Yes.
Am I sad about that? Kind of.
Do I worry more about the innocents (3000+) in my country? Yes.

Am I glad you're not in the majority? Yes.
insane carnage | 3:56 p.m. July 31, 2008
It is one thing if innocent civilians are "accidentally" killed in war, but when they are purposely murdered ie., Nuking of Hiroshima and Nagasaki (non-military targets) or "shock-and-awed" in Iraq (to break the insurgent's spirit) you are now in the realm of immorality.

Since World War I (the "war to end of all wars") more civilians than military people have died for political, ideological, and mostly economic reasons.

Only the most insane of us would support such senseless carnage.

Take back your consciousness

Minds walking on strong current-like
Flowing river
Eyes on mission
Souls resent decoys
Satan's traps
Life's will
The Voyage
Take back your consciousness

Mothers
Children from your loins or adopted
Fathers of children
Take off your grave clothes
Nestle and nurture your Offsprings
Tomorrow's earth
Reconcile
For to day's
Life-filled
Voyage
Take back your consciousness

Iraqis drink tea and play dominoes on a side street in Baghdad. Parks in the capital are filled every weekend with families playing and picnicking with their children. That was unthinkable a year ago.
