he is too immature to play under sloan anyways. and on other topic, did jason
hart think he would come in and start or play big minutes when he signed with
the jazz? we have someone who is a little tiny bit better in deron williams. and
if he was truly sorry for being so bad he would have opted out of his contract,
i know its a business and everything but still he could have opted and signed
with clippers.

CJ is an outstanding talent with a huge upside. He is athletic, a good defender
and has terrific range. He could very easily become a star in this league if
given the chance.
CJ can play both 2 and 3. He can create his own shot off the dribble and commands respect from 3 which stretches the defense.
Can Almond fill CJ's shoes? NO. Almond doesn't play defense, isn't as long, isn't as athletic and isn't a team player.

Initially, I felt that the contract offer for CJ was a little more than what the
Jazz would want to match, thus letting him go. But after watching Almond in the
RMR, I am not that impressed that he is going to make an impact in the NBA. He
doesn't play above the rim and defensively is not ready. At least with CJ
you have the capability of being explosive. If the Jazz can manage this
contract I think they should match it. Korver is a ? mark after next year. I
think he may want to opt out for a team back East. Collins will be gone and
possibly Knight also freeing up more money. Just haven't been impressed
with Almond. Like Harpring said last night, half the shots he took last night
won't be there when the season starts.

If the Jazz sign CJ they can't trade him this year (league rules). If they
do sign him for 4 Mil they are paying 4 Mil to stay at the same level as last
year. Further, they may not be able to trade him for 4 Mil after this year.
It may be better to take the 4 mil and get people who will improve the club. Is CJ the best player the Jazz could get for 4 Mil at any position?
NO and Houston are better than last year. LA will be about the same. SA may be better. This year (salary cap)is the best year for the Jazz to win but they have to get better.

at 4 mil a year, there is no one better to fill the spot you are looking for.
Miles could very likely fill role of backing up the 2/3 and defending. He needs
some game-time to improve his defense (as did Brewer last year), but he can do
it as good as anyone who would get that kind of $.

CJ will just cause problems if he is here. There's not enough minutes to
appease Brewer, Korver, and Miles. He will just complain that he's not

Mo Almond hasn't seen a man open yet. Korver tries but his feet and legs
don't move quick enough to play good defense. C. J. is alot better than the
jazz have wanted people to know. They've tried to keep his talent hidden
until after this signing. C.J. was also very effective playing the 3 when
Harpring or A.K. were hurt. I'm not sure how effective Harpring will be
this year with his knees and all and A. K. could go on a sulk fest at any time.

Why not let CJ go and pick up Elton Brown (age 24), 6,9, 255 lb. forward who
averaged 13.5 points and 10 rebounds in summer league? He will cost a lot less
than 4 mil.
Brown would be cheap insurance for Harp. CJ is pretty similar to Korver, Brewer and Almond. The Jazz already decided that CJ was not the answer when they started Brewer and got Korver.

CJ miles is an NBA starter in the making. If Kirilenko wasn't in front of
him, CJ would have started all year. When AK was out who stepped up?
I truly believe that we should trade AK for expiring contracts and a shot blocker, sign CJ, give Almond more PT and grow internally.
Personally I like the 2-3 line up of Brewer, CJ, Almond, Harpring and Korver. And I'm tired of AK turning the ball over constantly.

Second of all, look at the games that he actually got over 20 minutes. He shot the ball well, rebounded and got some steals.

CJ is the 2008 version of David Benoit and Shandon Anderson. Plays well in our
system, but is willing to leave the team for a lesser team...and ultimately,
disappear.

I hope the Jazz don't sign C.J. he has a future in the NBA but not with
the Jazz. If he is with a team that will allow him to get a couple of years of
real experience behind him he will be one of the more outstanding players in the
league. This will not happen under Sloan's inability to look past his own
shortcomings and allow a player to be himself. I wish nothing but the best for
CJ no matter were he plays. Hopefully not Utah.

From what I've seen I respect C.J. for keeping a good attitude while being
jerked around by a coach whose attitude is very much in question. Any coach or
fan who cannot see the reasons why C.J. skipped the review, might need to learn
more about the buisness end of the NBA. A 15 million dollar commodity does not
play in the summer league with out a contract.

CJs a player... He just needs minutes. Defensively, he could get as many
roaming weakside blocks as AK, and then you don't need AK. He shoots
better than AK too. AK's a tremendous passer (I think the most creative
big passer since Bird) but he takes too many risks and sometimes too many
passes, hence the turnovers. AK's never been as aggressive to the hoop
since his surgery, and CJ hasn't blown his knees out yet. He'll take
the ball to the hole. Keep CJ!!!!!!!

The Jazz don't have any investment in this kid. A second rounder who got
less than a mil per season is nothing in todays NBA. He just is not worth any
more investment than what has been spent. If he makes it so be it, but our
current salary structure can't handle someone who has not shown the
dedication that management wants to see. He was hell bent on 3 things that were
bad decisions--coming out for the draft instead of taking the full ride offered
by Texas, and bad work ethic and dedication to his choice to play in the NBA.

First off, did anyone see the playoffs last year?Harpring is done...his knees
are shot. I like Korver but the dude is a stature on defense. CJ is long and
pretty athletic and should have been a college junior last year.
We paid way more than that for Giricek and for Arroyo and CJ is better than those two.

If the Jazz sign CJ they would have 15 guaranteed contracts for this year. Meaning that the ONLY way they could do anything else is through a trade, that is a tough situation to be in.
The Jazz can't just "get rid" of people under contract, they have to trade them. Which means someone else has to want them and furthermore since most teams are over the salary cap the salaries you trade have to be comparable to the salaries you get back. AK isn't going anywhere, nobody wants his contract, same goes for Collins unless he is traded around the trade deadline to clear cap space.
Miles is no AK, not by a long shot.
CJ doesn't want to stay, he feels like the Jazz organization hasn't treated him fairly and he probably hates playing for Sloan.
Keeping CJ would be nice, especially since Harprings minutes keep going down, but with the Jazz current roster and payroll is seems foolish to use the last roster spot on a backup guard. The Jazz need a solid backup center, not a guard.

hopefully fesenko will take the rmr as a learning experience, work to getting in
shape by the start of training camp, and come to camp confident, and leave a
good impression like he did last year. he might be lacking confidence now, i
like his style, i think fedexo is a player that needs to work his butt off to
make it, doing everything, studying, working out, practicing. i can't
imagine a year of solid work and discipline would hurt him.

2. The Jazz won't be able to keep Boozer, Williams, AK and Memo unless they go well over the cap. Of that group, it seems that AK may be most likely to go. I suspect he would like to play the "Point Forward" position and another team may allow him to do that.
3. My recollection is that Sloan has praised his work ethic. This is quite unlike all other youngs that are fighting for playing time.
4. When he shoots, he looks like Ray Allen and that would be beautiful to watch.
5. He appears to have the upper body strength to rebound and provide some points in the paint to match his shooting stroke.
6. It would appear that he is intelligent enough to play Sloan's system.
7. I do not believe that there is another player available for the same amount of money that has the same potential.
8. Go over the cap for a short time anyway. Keep everybody.

Right now C.J. got an offer for around 4 mill a year. What would he be worth if
he continues to improve over the next couple of years?? Would he not then be
undervalued? next year they can afford him, after that they can trade him. If he
develops at the 3 spot, it frees up the Jazz to trade Harpring, and or A.K. I
say instead of guessing, keep C.J. for one more year, tell Jerry to pull his
head out of his tractor, and stop holding the RMR against the kid. The Jazz

CJ is AK's replacement. There is no way the Jazz can give AK what he will
want in a few years. By then CJ will be outplaying him anyway. Might as well
keep him now for that 3 spot of the future. Not matching would be as bad as not
matching Mo Williams offer, even though that worked out for us by getting
D-Will.

I can't believe how many of you can't see the talent in CJ, he is
long, athletic, can shoot from deep, take it to the hole, post up, hit the mid
range jumper, his length makes him very tough on defense, he has it all. That is
why D. Will said the sky is the limit for CJ. All he needs is to mature both
physically and mentally, and he is starting to do that. To say we have nothing
invested in him because he is a 2nd round pick is like saying the same about
Milsap, CJ has too much talent and potential to just let him walk and get
nothing for him. Keep him. Jermaine O'Neal, Rashard Lewis, McGrady, (All
Stars), T.Outlaw, Stevenson and others took 4 or 5 yrs to develope straight out
of high school. Let's be patient and work to develope this kids talents and
we will be glad we did.

CJ Miles is another player that was drafted from high school...the Jazz spend 3
years developing and are contemplating letting him go. WOW! DeShawn Stevenson
is a starter and plays pretty well now. We have to break the cycle of letting
players go before they have a break out season. Miles all around game is better
than Almond right now. What's next Koufus is only 19...do we work him for
3 years and send him off too? If you remember the draft, Miles NBA comparison
was Ray Allen....did people always know Ray Allen would be so special...No, only
those who thought it would be worth taking a chance on.

Matt Harpring has been great player for the jazz and we all love him and thank
him for everything but the fact is no one can play for ever now is the perfect
time to put a plan together and I think C J would be a great replacement for

him in over the next year two years from now when matt and most likely A.K. are

At first I did not want the Jazz to match the offer sheet becasue looking at the
Jazz's 2 and 3 they were stacked. However, taking a better look at the
situation one can see that Korver could walk, Harpring's knees are not
holding up well, and AK will be gone in 2 years. The other part of this trade
that people don't realize is this contract is 3 years guaranteed, with a
team option for the 4th year. Now, I believe the Jazz should match because 3
years is nothing. CJ could become a valuable asset for the Jazz in the next
couple of years.

In those scenarios, I'd think the Jazz would be looking at a $9-$10M dollar deal and would trade multiple contracts (like Collins, Harp and Almond, for example). So a roster spot would be opened on the Jazz end.

People say Jerry doesn't develop young and/or play young talent. Milsap
played LOTS and he is a 2nd rounder. So did Shandon Anderson. Stockton played
a lot as a rookie -- behind an NBA All-Star -- and then was given the reins his
second year.
Milsap EARNED every minute he got, and Jerry will play anyone who earns it.

If we could sign and Trade Cj and Jarron Collins for Nick Collison or Chris
Wilcox. We would be sitting pretty we would get a big man that plays defense
and rebounds, and is a big strong body. Then Fes can go away, and will bring
kostus on in a few years, and this year Almond can get some playing time.

the Kwame Brown idea. Utah doesn't need another SG who will just be
spending most of his time on the bench. I was going to say they need another
big guy, but they really don't have anyone (outside of the Fester and the
new guy) other than collins. I think signing Kwame Brown would be an excellent
idea. He's still young and can't be any worse than Collins. Yes, he
hasn't played anywhere near his expectations, but Utah could get him for
next to nothing. I just think if Utah matched CJ there isn't much more the
Jazz can do to improve (unless there is a trade). Utah doesn't need more
help offensively, they need help defensively and as good as CJ can become, he
isn't going to push Utah over the top.

I love the responsiveness of Jazz fans. I agree with all the CJ supporters. We
desperately need to sign this guy. He is talented and skilled. Coaches always
told me, "you can't teach shooting touch, you either have it or you
don't." CJ has it. When given the opportunity, CJ has performed
well. I love his stroke. I agree with those who groups CJ with the Jermaine
O'Neil's of the world. It is so frustrating to me when the Jazz
develop a young player and then let him go breakout for another team. The Jazz
draft very well, but we let too many of these young players leave and keep some
of the wrong players. As much as I like him, I would have to take CJ over
Harpring at this point in his career. Moment of truth for KOC...Match.

Kwame played good everytime he played the Jazz. Will he come to Utah well its
better than Memphis. C'mon Jazz throw midlevel money at him and try. Are
only expectations of him would be to come off the bench to back boozer and
okur.

Yes, the Jazz need a big guy. But at this point the Big Guy market is fairly
lacking. Rather than getting rid of CJ in order to save money for a Big Guy who
has yet to be identified and may not even be out there, the Jazz should sign CJ
because they are familiar with him, he knows the offense, and he has the
potential to be an amazing player in this league---really, you think
O'Connor would have waited to the last possible minute to decide if CJ
wasn't worth it?
With a 8 man rotation that is pretty much set, the Jazz should try to keep the best bench players they can at this point. If anything, CJ will be valuable trade bait in the future, much more so than Kwame or someother dufus that the Jazz bring in for one season.

PS I agree that Harpring should have seen his last day in Utah. Harpring was an amazingly valuable asset for a Jazz time that can be a little soft (can you say Boozer?). But I felt that his game really dropped off in the playoffs, a time when the Jazz need the most help. Plus, at his age and after so many injuries, he will be particularly delicate this year. The Jazz should replace the bulk of Harpring's minutes with CJ. This will let Harpring rest his aging body for those big, physical games when we need him most and will give CJ that confidence and experience he'll need to succeed. The big problem with this plan is Jerry--Harpring is obviously one of his favorite players and having Jerry agree to replacing the hard-working Harpring with the Rocky Mtn Revue skipping Miles is going to be tough work indeed.
