It doesn't matter who we elect. If we, the poeple don't change our self-rightious, egotistical, supremicy, of the rest of the world they are going to get fed up and fight back and there won't be a single thing we will be able to do about it. We have become a sinnfull nations that doesn't follow the teachings of the Savior and he has promised that if we don't we will be wiped off the face of the land by floods, hurricans, drought, fires, etc. Wake up.

If religion were an issue in the South which do you think the South would choose...A Mormon VP or a Muslim President? The choices have changed since the race for the nomination. The data is no longer relevant to the choices in the two major parties. But, the challenge is found between the fight to keep the Democrat base united verses the unification of the base for the Repubs. It would appear that more Dems would more likely change thier loyalties then the Repubs because of the disinfranchising between people of color and feminists. The feminists are more likely to vote for McCain then for Obama because of his liberal stands. I think there are more feminists than those calling themselves Christian Conservatives who would vote for a Huckabee ticket.
Where do I start? | 1:23 p.m. July 23, 2008
You can only lose your tax exempt status if you endorse a candidate, not an issue. Get some education, folks.

Mitt Romney DOES belong to the CFR. He is pro-abortion, pro-socialism, anti-gun, and he's being used by the republican national committee right now. How many of his millions does he have to spend and how many free plane rides does he have to give before he realizes that he's the one being taken for a ride? I do hope he gets something in return, I just hope to high heaven that it's not a high office. We have enough work fighting all the tyrants currently "serving", or should I say ruling.

No more LDS leaders. They seem to have a hard time with freedom.

Obama is the biggest 'do-nothing' in a 'do-nothing' congress. He has 'zero' experience, has sponsored absolutely no legislation, and on that record is running for the highest office in the land. He is a silver tongued, golden throated orator, nothing more. He has bedazzled the world with oratory, but shown NOTHING of substance. I truly hope that Romney is NOT chosen as McCain's VP so as not to sully, smear, dirty, besmirch, taint and otherwise damage a really good man in today's world of worthless politics: though his wisdom and experience is desperately needed in the economy.
To: "To "to AWB" | 1:51 p.m. July 23, 2008
"To "to AWB", you are really among the most biased and ignorant of people. You have laid every ill (except the eruption of Mount Vesuvius) that plagues the planet at President Bush's feet as if the Constitution doesn't protect us from one-branch Executive government. We all should be eternally grateful that the founding fathers provided three branches of government, each as a check and balance on the other. You seem to hold blameless the 9% approved Democrat-dominated Legislative Branch and the run amok liberal Judicial Branch which usurps by fiat the powers of both the Executive and Legislative Branches. You lose all credibility when you blame President Bush for all the problems and hold blameless the obstructionist clowns in power in the other two branches of government. A little knowledge is a dangerous thing. History will vindicate President Bush as being a good and honorable man notwithstanding the constant barrage of hate from the me-too crowd who seem to be in competition with each other to see who can spew the most hateful epithets. There is not an original thought among the Bush-haters. They follow like sheep.
To "To: 'To 'to AWB'" | 2:12 p.m. July 23, 2008
My criticism of Bush extends to the other two branches of government. They are all equally corrupt and none of them favor liberty.

Please provide me a few examples of the "good and honorable" things that Bush has done for our country and then tell me if it is constitutional.

I am not a Bush-hater, I am a freedom-lover, and Bush represents the antithesis of freedom.

Hmmm...."Life Long Conservative":

Did you feel the same way when Kerry ran in '04? I'd wager not. And I'd also wager that you have a perfectly sound reason why Romney's "realization of new information" is different from Kerry's "flip-flopping".

Conservatives make laugh...until they get elected.
Evan | 3:46 p.m. July 23, 2008
I do agree that Mitt as VP would pretty much sink the republican party this time around... but people can't get his religion out of their thick heads. I think he would be the best person for our country right now.
I agree | 4:01 p.m. July 23, 2008
AWB is a fool!

I work for a fortune 500 computer company.

I also happen to be a member of the LDS church.

I've been secretly passing commands and edicts from my LDS leaders to the CEO.

It's working great. So far, no one has discovered me!
Mike Huckabee For VP! | 4:39 p.m. July 23, 2008
Mike Huckabee Hard-Core Conservative from Arkansas would be much better suited as VP than Mitt R.!!!
Mike's no non-sense and Fairness policy's is what we need in a VP! I know he is not as good looking as Mitt but does looks count in decision making? Wake up people get a grip and vote for Mc Cain come election day!
Anyone but Obama! | 5:12 p.m. July 23, 2008
Obama is clearly "making it up" as he goes. He has had more gaffes that the sum total of all the other politicians in this election cycle, and even more than Kerry did in the 2004 cycle! He didn't want a surge in Iraq where it was effective but now wants one in Afghanistan where competent military planners deem it to be ineffective. He wanted to talk directly to Iran and now wants to put military might into play. He is too inexperienced.

McCain, Romney, Hillary all have executive experience, granted some more than others. We cannot afford the time it will take to get Obama up to speed. There may be people behind the curtain pulling the strings.
awesomeron | 5:41 p.m. July 23, 2008
Yes! I think Mitt would be good. He may not be Mormon enough for some of the Starched Shirts, but oh well. I trust his 180 0n Abortion, I can live with the rest of it. He may be Anti Gun and Pro Gay but he is not Obsessed with it like Obama. That individual Just vneed to not be elected. Most he is a good administrator who will use the nukes if need be. What scares me is that we are 2 heart beats away form Nancy P. being President regardless of who we elect. I also think Condie Rice would be good. She is Black, Female, Experienced, and Plays Golf.
caroline | 5:57 p.m. July 23, 2008
Don't know anything about Mitt's liabilities all I know is he is the best candidate I had ever seen. Very brave, very brilliant, clever, worthy of emulation.
Others can search and search for Mitt's liabilities but I had made up my mind. He is the guy to do the JOB!
I am only voting for M&M. McCain & Romney.
No Huckabee! | 6:06 p.m. July 23, 2008
If McCain names religious bigot Huckabee to the ticket I won't vote Republican, despite the fact that I have done so for more than 24 years. Huckabee is disingenuous and despicable, as a person and as a politician.
AWB | 6:41 p.m. July 23, 2008
My friend, haven't you learned by now that liberals are just smarter than the rest of us and know what's really good for America? Things like how do deal with terrorists (negotiate with them), oil exploration (never drill another oil well), economy (tax, tax tax), military (cut, cut cut),welfare (create a permanent welfare class), family values (ram same sex "marriage" down our throats) and on and on it goes. And as some on here have proven, if you disagree with them, they call you stupid or a fool! Don't you realize how lucky we all are to have them think for us?
No To Huckabee | 7:35 p.m. July 23, 2008
I agree. Even as a life long Republican, I will not vote for McCain with Huckabee as the VP nominee. He is a bigot and has terrible ideas for governing.
wayne | 7:52 p.m. July 23, 2008
AWB you beieve this mormons taking over the world thing, and you still live in utah? mitt is a smart guy one who would make a good VP but if he is as smart as I think he is he will stay out of the race this year. allowing a struggling econnomy to play out and expose obama and the dems in Washington for the lack of leadership and shortsidedness. then he would ride in like a knight in shinning armor and help set the country straight. one last thing if the church had a goal to influance politics don't you think they would also beinvolved in state politics? hope this doesn't add a whole new level to your concern.
Ev | 8:39 p.m. July 23, 2008
I wish people would just look at the person. Let everyone believe in their hearts what they know, as the constitution allows a president to belong to any religion. Let's all "grow up" and all practice what you come to know is true.
Romney is a man of great integrity and energy and desire to help this country - just like he delivered the best olympics this "world" has ever had or watched; and just like he helped lead his state out of their huge deficit and in business. By his "fruits", his family, and what he's delivered you can know him. He just wants to serve this country (for free) and we need his energy, genius and knowledge to help our economy and to get fair trade and this gas crisis fixed (and immigration). He has so much he could bring to the table above anyone else in my opinion and I have studied out every debate etc. I just wish he were on top of the ticket. Anyway, he is the only one in who could "take Obama down". With Mitt on the ticket it would be one big WIN! It'd bring Hope & success back to America!
Forrest | 9:50 p.m. July 23, 2008
If McCain is going to ask Romney, what is he doing in New Orleans talking to Bobby Jindal?
Why Mitt? | 9:56 p.m. July 23, 2008
Mitt would be a perfect pick for VP he is intelligent, with high moral values. Clean background with an outstanding record of accomplishment in business. Mitt would bring the MI vote and the votes of intelligent business leaders. The only issue is the ignorant anti-Mormons spewing their uninformed tripe.
yes he's black | 9:58 p.m. July 23, 2008
Why the issue with Mormons? Where are all the people who are privately saying I will not vote for Obama because he is black?

Yes, he is a black man, yep I said it, and I am not voting for him because he is black. I do not want a flip-flopping black man in the Whitehouse with ties to Rev Wright who preached revulsion and hatred to whites. Obama will turn this country into a weak, over taxed joke of a world power. You want change? If you vote for Obama you will get a pocket full of change because that is all you will have left from all the taxation the Dems will slam down on you.
Mormon | 10:06 p.m. July 23, 2008
Mitt is a MORMON. Everyone knows that alone should qualify him for Vice President. Bringing down-home much needed Mormon Values, Honesty, Integrity, Education, Industry, and Ingenuity to Washington will solve virtually every problem we face as a nation. Realize this - Mitt is who he is BECAUSE of his MORMON upbringing of hard work, emphasis on education, honesty, and a premium on service.

Tom | 10:18 p.m. July 23, 2008
I would rather vote for a Mormon whose worst sin was to maybe have poligamy in his family tree than to worry about the so called Christian right in the south who hung people in their tree. The hypocracy of the southern vote is so sickening why would anyone want it.

A Mormon is running the country | 11:43 p.m. July 23, 2008
You know him as Harry Reid, he is the Senate Majority leader and he wants to make sure all of you keep paying high gas, he is stopping having a vote on drilling in the US, high gas prices also make food costs higher. But he also wants to make sure you all have free medicine and free education and free this and that, and then you can just depend on the government and not be self sufficient. So are you Romney haters, who hate him because he is a Mormon, do you also hate Harry Reid because he is a Mormon? I will say this, Romney has earned my respect, it was cautious, even though I was amazed at what he did with the Utah Olympics, but Reid has lost any ounce of respect that I had for him.
Katherine1966 | 12:18 a.m. July 24, 2008
Could we be so lucky...I certainly hope so, and we all should be praying Obama loses.. Who really has a clue what he is up to!
Carol | 8:11 a.m. July 24, 2008
Any true conservative would want Romney for Vice President. He is qualified, able and a man of principle which is more than you can say for most politicians. He and his family are good examples of what Christianity is all about. Maybe it's time to consider praying for who would best fill this position and turn back to the principles of our country's founding fathers. Wake up Americans!
Southern Decision | 9:04 a.m. July 24, 2008
If you vote for Obama are you voting for same sex marriage? Maybe the South will rethink their choices.
Anonymous | 9:30 a.m. July 24, 2008
McCain will not pick Romney for VP, since the evangelical base in the Republican party will not allow it.
Hoosier Daddy | 9:46 a.m. July 24, 2008
Ditto SLC gal. Mitt Romney on the ticket is the only reason I would vote for a Republican for President this year.
Indiana | 9:46 a.m. July 24, 2008
This is an older post, so I doubt too many are visiting anymore, but if anyone wants to, check out the aol poll on vp. 62,566 people have voted and 66% of them have voted for Mitt. He is a great man, he is pro life (despite what the liars like to say), he is pro marriage between a man and a woman (see above parenthetical). He is just a wonderful man. America needs him, but I don't know that they deserve him.
Anonymous | 9:54 a.m. July 24, 2008
how can anyone intelligent say that the bible belt will tear romney and mccain up? that doesn't make sense. doesn't anyone know that obama offends most evangelicals? furthermore, romney lost the south to huckabee, who was a baptist preacher. so, take huckabee out of the picture and romney would have won the south, as well as the republican ticket. moreover, whoever made the comment that the lds church would run the country if romney ever became president is about as knowledgeable about the lds church as i am about
Mitt for the Pick | 10:06 a.m. July 24, 2008

If McCain wants someone to help with the debates coming up, he better pick Mitt. He's knowlegable about the issues that are confronting our country. He's a good speaker, he's good at debating, he's good at being in control of not being intimidated. Mitt could certainly support McCain during the debates and he has given much support with the fundraisers, & television ads. I think any of the other names mentioned can be a VP, but can they talk about the issues "when" they are in the "spotlight". We have been over the talk about religion differences, we have talked about them getting along, we have talked about personal opinions of his private life. Can't we move on? If McCain wants to be elected, just pick someone that will be able to do the debates that are coming up! Its critical! I will vote for McCain whoever he picks for VP, because Obama scares me. I'm not sure I can trust him to love our country enough to help us as Americans. He doesn't have enough experience yet to run the country. He does have a winning smile though. But, thats not enough.
Derek Wessman | 11:12 a.m. July 24, 2008
"If you vote for Obama, are you voting for gay marriage?"

If you vote for McCain, you are voting for a military-industrial machine that promotes war and killing. I think that is even worse, even according to my Mormon doctrine.
Indiana | 11:24 a.m. July 24, 2008
America largely loves Mitt Romney. Yes, there are a few bigotds like those that have manifested tehmselves in these comments. If you doubt Amreica would vote for Mitt, go to aol and look at the hot seat poll. As of now, nearly 63,000 people have voted and 66% of them have voted for Mitt.

America needs Mitt, but I am not sure America deserves Mitt.
Derek Wessman | 11:35 a.m. July 24, 2008
"Obama will turn this country into a weak, over taxed joke of a world power."

HA! Bush turned this country into a weak, overspending hated joke of a world power, and McCain is more of the same.

We'll always be overtaxed. I want my money wasted on healthcare instead of wars, if it must be wasted.

i wrote him in during the idaho primary as well as almost 10 percent of idahoans.they were counted as other or undecided votes but i know they were for him. and will do it again this november if necessary, GO MITT!!!
Hillary instead | 12:27 p.m. July 24, 2008
How about Hillary Clinton and McCain? Well, perhaps not. But she might be desperate for higher office after Obama picks Jesse Jackson as his veep running mate.
james sowe | 1:43 p.m. July 24, 2008
Mitt for V.P., GOD WILL STEP IN (AGAIN) AND STOP THIS !!!!!!!!
LOL | 4:26 p.m. July 24, 2008
You could put a dog as the VP candidate and Utah would vote for the Republican ticket. It goes with the culture. Blind loyalty!
Jim | 4:38 p.m. July 24, 2008
I love Mitt, but...

I think the next VP of the U.S.A. will be....

Timothy James Pawlenty, Governor of Minnesota

He is a regular member of an evangelical church and the senior pastor of that church is the president of the National Association of Evangelicals.
Tai H. | 5:22 p.m. July 24, 2008
Ronald Reagan is rolling over in his grave.

John McCain was John Kerry's first choice for VEEP. I wonder why?

John McCain is endorsed by Al Gore's 2000 running mate. I wonder why?

Mitt Romney raised the capital gains tax and legislated gay civil unions.

The Republican Party is dead. I'm voting for the Constitution Party Candidate.

Mitt is a New England liberal. John McCain is a socialist.
Mitt Romney hates poor people | 6:14 p.m. July 24, 2008
Being in a lower class income bracket I certainly hope that man doesn't make it as VP. He is all about big business. He could care less what happens to the poor. He is all about money.

And being LDS I think Mitt would set the reputation of the church back decades. That hate-filled tirade he gave at his concession speach was embarassing.

Shame on you Mitt Romney! Hate may fuel the republican party but it certainly shouldn't fuel the LDS chuch. But lets face it, hate does fuel the members of the church during election years and BYU football seasons. So maybe he is the perfect candidate.

Mormon in the South | 10:31 p.m. July 24, 2008
No way does McCain get my vote even with Romney.

Obama gets my vote over McCain who clearly is too old and rigid for the job.

I do not favor everything Obama champions but I can live with him after these last 8 horrible years.
Chris | 10:39 p.m. July 24, 2008
Romney will be the VP choice; nobody even comes close to him---Romney isn't perfect but he will be the VP selection. Who else? He has looks, pretty wife, family, money, morality, clean record, no past record------ I personally wanted Hillary to win so I'm not crazy about Obama. It may be Romney and Hillary debating in the VP debates; or Romney and Richardson. Romney's faith could make difference in Colorado, Nevada, Oregon, Washington, and his roots and associations can help in New Hampshire----a key state (one of three) that changed between 2000 and 2004--------- true---not all LDS will vote for him, but most will. This election will be close, anybody predicting victory now is foolish. Dukakas ('88) and Kerry ('04) were up 10-15 points in the spring and lost in the fall. Obama's lead is being chipped away. But because of the day/night differences of policies, this could end up being a landslide victory if one side makes a blunder. My prediction: a liberal will be in the white house no matter what (as well as in the VP house).
Nimrod | 11:50 p.m. July 24, 2008
The person who posted at 6:14 is either extremely uninformed, or else a die-hard Obama supporter.

I can see virtually NO truth in anything in that post--especially in characterizing Mitt Romney's Feb. speech at CPAC as anything other than stirring, moving, generous and very patriotic.
Mitt Hates? | 12:18 a.m. July 25, 2008
Personally, I support Obama. But there are some outrageous comments coming from those who pretend to know. Mitt is known for helping people that need assistance. How many men of his "high class" or even those of a "lower class" have you seen helping people put their houses back together after a disaster. Manual labor isn't too good for Mitt. He's as fine a man as any. Frankly, I like Mitt. I just don't want Republicans in the Whitehouse.
Indiana | 7:35 a.m. July 25, 2008
Anyone that doesn't want republicans in the White House is foolish. You may want to think wisely about the alternative, especially after yesterday's absurd and outrageous showing in Europe. Talk about pandering and the man has no idea how to nor any apparent desire to protect you from the enemy. You may want to think loud and long and clearly about the lever in November.

McCain and Romney (I hope)
To Indiana | 12:19 p.m. July 25, 2008
I thought Obama looked great, I don't know what your problem is, but I do know that we do need a big, big change from the last eight years.
