It is amazing how misinformed people can be. To even think that the Mormon Church tells elected individuals what to do is the height of ignorance. Please don't blame Harry Reid on the LDS Church!

Mitt Romney would make a wonderful Vice President but bigots that base their opinions on false information rather than actually researching the facts are the reason this country is in trouble.

Romney has always been our choice. We wanted him to be the President to re-emphasize the important of the family value which builds a strong foundation for a great nation. The truth is simple, but people can't see it. If McCain and the Party can realize the basic value by choosing Romney to be the VP, then, there's still hope for the nation. We would very much like to see it happens. We support you, Romney!!

Pretty entertaining to read all these comments. But really, it makes me very worried about the state of our country. I didn't realize how many non thinking people there are out there.

i will try again ... some of you folks are supporting some idea that you've made up about mitt romney ... trouble is, that idea is exactly the opposite of romney as he really is ... he is a tail-wagging sycophant ... if hitler himself were the republican nominee, mitt romney would be there, offering to "serve" ... you are right 4:27 p.m., the truth IS simple, but people CAN'T SEE it ... mitt romney should never be allowed to hold public office again..

Wow, I'm stunned by all the comments from hate-mongers. Satan is definitely smiling up at you all.

"Bush is responsible for the deaths of thousands of our soldiers, liberal and conservative.. "

No. The terrorists are responsible. This is a fairly recent event if you'll recall.

"The scriptures condemn this war..."

See D&C 98.

Forget about the VP position for now, what we need to do is realize McCain is not a winner nor the leader we need and replace him with some one who can win and lead our nation in this time of need. We need to act now before it is too late. McCain is a mistake we need to correct that mistake now before we loss our opportunity to serve our nation in its hour of greatest need.

Unhappy with McCain (like me, a fellow Republican)? Then do what I and many other Republicans and Independents are doing... turn your support to Obama. Vote for Obama instead. Obama is going to do a great job when he becomes president this fall.

The timing is always right for laying odds on various possibilities, so here's our look, perhaps only days before the pick is announced, at the candidates widely seen as finalists. We're basing these odds on a number of factors, from media buzz to level of comfort with McCain:

Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty (2-1): He's one of McCain's biggest backers, and he spent hours at McCain headquarters this week giving interviews and meeting with staff. That set off serious alarm bells with Politics Nation, and while the media buzz has died down a bit, we think Pawlenty remains the favorite.

Ex-Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney (3-1): The favorite of the Bush Administration, Romney brings economic credibility to a ticket that lacks just that. McCain is under pressure to pick his one-time rival.

Ex-OMB Director Rob Portman (7-1): From the swing state of Ohio, Portman has good political skills, and his buzz shot way up when he joined McCain on the Straight Talk Express yesterday. But the big knock on Portman's resume is that he served in the Bush Administration. .

The only thing that can make that pasty-faced McCain look worse to me is adding slick, fast-talking, insincere Romney to the ticket. Blah
