This will guarantee McCain...Utah. I suspect it will hurt him in other places. As an Obama supporter, I don't mind, although McCain does come across as a personable and reasonable chap. Still, I'm no fan of mittney, and by definition that makes me a religious bigot in Utah. Good luck boys, you're kind of yesterdays' news but a McMitt ticket will make for a lot of fun on these pages.

People despise Mormons because they are jealous of them. I'm not a Mormon, living in SLC, I love it here. I hope the Mormons don't let non Mormons ruin this place. I've never figured out why Mormons are always trying to show people they are Christians, Good people, Patriotic. You don't have to prove anything to anyone. I have lived among you for years and I don't know any better people. Let the rest of the country fall apart stay true to your belief, forget these loseres that can't hold a candle to you people.

The constitution is indeed hanging on a thread and I firmly believe in the prophecy. Only one of the priesthood will be able to bring us back. Good luck Mitt and Godspeed.

The people of this country will not vote for Mitt becasue that would be the smart vote, especially with the trouble are economy is in. The stupid vote will win out.

To the out of touch person who said Romneys flip flops would hurt them....are you serious?????recently Obama made 18 flipflops in a ..2 week period !!!! I think if you study Romney's history his weren"T really flip flops at all, but he certainly can't be compared to the great deceiver...Obama!
to : Mitt for VP | 7:09 p.m. July 22, 2008
We are living in very crazy and exciting times, for sure. This seems to be the time when many call evil good and good evil. We seem to have lost our moral compass.

I have grave misgivings about Obama and the 'change" he'll certainly bring. I don't care for McCain, but we have a Sophie's Choice and I'll have to go with McCain.

Notice, the same people who once told us about how great of a president Bush would make are saying the same about McCain. Need I say more?

Too bad more people can't think in like manner!

McCain can now confirm whether he has any brains by choosing Romney for VP on the ticket. McCain/Romney will cause nightmares for the Donkeys.

If you want:
Spending control; Lower Taxes; Lower gas prices; Less Big Brother; A litigimate commander in chief - then vote McCain/Romney. If you want the opposite of the aforementioned, then Obama is your man. A vote for Obama is a vote for Socialism and a vote for one who hasn't a CLUE.

Have you seen a picture of him lately? He really aged. Clinton did the same thing as have past presidents.

Is McCain really best for president? No! Is that the best that the GOP can do? Will he survive 4 years?
Anonymous | 9:09 p.m. July 22, 2008
Since the liberal eastern voters crossed over and voted McCain in...like it or not we have him...he is really very conservative if you view his voting record. If he chose Romney it would be a very wise move. I would vote for him with confidence. We can't elect Obama, who is too inexperienced and very liberal just because he is charasmatic, handsome and a good speaker. I personally can't take high taxes and high gas and food bills.
Count on it | 9:12 p.m. July 22, 2008
A pretty good DC source has said it will be Romney. And it will help McCain with the conservative base. The core of the conservatives are all for it and want it. Especially because it opens the door for his run in 2012. McCain is expected to go only one term because of his age. BTW, the same source says Hillary will be the Dem's VP candidate regardless of the animosity between the two families (did I really call what the four of them have families-I guess technically they are).
Billboard in LA "A taxpayer voting for Obama is like a chicken voting for Col. Sanders".

I agree with 6:54. It will take a man of Mr Romneys background to save this country. It has been spoken and I agree that it is true that only a member of Zion would be able to take us of this troubled course we are currently in.

This, like a young woman, whose family has priased her beauty going to a beauty contest, Mormons will get to see what the rest of America thinks of them. Who knows?

Obama has said he will keep tax cuts for the middle class. So, fear not. How are you counting on paying for our war and national debts? Are you counting on war beind an entitlement program?

For those who say Mitt is not Christian, HELLO, it is the Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter Day Saints, we believe in the the Father , the Son and the Holy Ghost. The religious bigotry is so backwards , you would think in 2008 that it would not be so, but I have heard it preached from pulpits about how we are 'Godless Heathens',by those who do not agree with our views. It is surprising that you hear from some 'christian' churches who pour forth nothing but hate and bigotry. Those who claim to be Christian tearing each other down! That is not what Jesus taught. But so be it for Him to judge.

Having observed McCain today, it is obvious that he is in political trouble. He is showing signs of aging and forgetting. He actually looked mean. He cannot seem to get traction, though, on this campaign business. Obama has sucked the air out of the room!! Especially when he made that 3 point shot.

Romney does give McCain traction: money, good looking guy, economic vitality to the campaign. Plus Romney will gladly do it to set up his 2012 run for the Oval Office. He will pour in about $50M and the game will change.

Of course, there are negatives: McCain cannot hide his dislike for Romney. He will also campaign a great deal without him at first, and then together after the convention. Romney has some serious negatives: Mormonism, 5 sons who never served in any military service, filthy rich, and he can only carry Utah for the sure thing.

I love it! America is a great nation with a great future!!

Obama and XXXX will win, but it is going to be a great news story for months as McCain stumbles and Romney rises, and Obama walks off with the prize.

Gads, gives me goose bumps!!!

The Shadow Knows.

Mitt Romney is a great man, he has been a leader in business and industry, and has impeccable character. There are those who say he seems too good to be true, well I know many who choose to lift up their heads through adversity and make things happen. By the way, that happens in the LDS community, for those who do not know us! Every time there is an important election coming up, there is a letter put out and read from our General Authorities, stating basically, that the church does not endorse any political candidate or party and that all members should vote for the candidate of their choosing and if at all possible be involved in the election process. I have never seen ANY political candidate in ANY pulpit of the LDS church asking for an endorsement, as the LDS church clearly states that doing so could jeopardize the church and state relationship and cause the church to lose it's tax exempt status. That sounds nothing to me like instruction on how to vote, does it?

You say "We can't elect Obama just because he is charasmatic, handsome and a good speaker." Sounds like some good reasons to me. Much better than what we have now. (Not to mention a deeper thinker, with better judgment and motivational skills)

You also say you "personally can't take high taxes and high gas and food bills." What do you think happened during Bush's time in office? No matter who gets elected we're all going to have to pay for the cost of Bush's Iraq war. Get used to the idea of higher costs and higher taxes, even if Mitt/McCain somehow magically pull off a win. We're headed into a doozey of a recession no matter who becomes president.

You are both the best. I will fight and campaign to get Governor Romney elected into the U.S. Vice - Presidency.
What role would Cindy and Ann ha | 9:59 p.m. July 22, 2008
I don't care who McCain selects as a running mate since McCain is a loser therefore the person he chooses will also be a loser. I doubt very much that it will be Mitt Romney but than we have seen that Romney is willing to lie and lacks integrity so he would fit into a McCain administration.

The question should be what role with Cindy McCain and Ann Romney would have in the administration if McCain and Romney were elected. If these women were to become First Lady and Second Lady of the U.S. it would be a bad thing for this country since they would be able to influence many things and we have seen what terrible people these two women are.

Even if we ignored what they have done in their own lives we only have to look at who they married to understand their character. Good people don't marry bad people and if they do and learn that they are bad people after getting married they divorce them but neither of these women have divorced these two losers.

Anonymous,

"Notice, the same people who once told us about how great of a president Bush would make are saying the same about McCain. Need I say more?"

No you don't. Bush is responsible for the deaths of thousands of our soldiers, liberal and conservative, and those who voted for him and support the Iraq war have caused many good people to die.

The scriptures condemn this war and yet many will continue to support it because they have chosen to follow after Satan and to do his will.

If we turn away from God and scriptures we deserve the condemnation of God and that is why I pray that God will damn the United States for our sins and I also believe that God will not forgive us for the Iraq war anymore than he will forgive us for the bombing of Nagasaki and Hiroshima.

It's the duty of good people to condemn the war. The Book of Mormon and Bible has condemned this war and those who support it are the modern day Nephites and that is why Church leaders have wiped their hands of them. God will judge them for their votes against his gospel.

I find it so hard to believe that most of America blame the president for the situation our country is in these days. Our problems are with the Congress. Are you people ignorant, blind, or both. Why does the Democartic Congress have a lower popularity rating than the president? Because they have been incompetent. The Democrats took over the Congress and what have they done? Nothing! All of the represenatives and senators, Democrats and Repulicans, love it that the president always takes the heat. Hello people; they write the laws. They can make the changes in tax laws, immigration laws, banking laws. They are the ones with their hands in the cookie jar while we are jacking our jaws about the president. This is why no matter who is elected president it will be the same old problems because it's the same old congress.

Wow...Bush responsible for global warming, hangnails, and the NY Mets collapse last year. What else?? It is so entertaining seeing some liberals losing so much sleep over this guy. Why haven't you moved to Canada yet like so many threatened to do after the 2004 election??

Bush hating should be an Olympic sport, but saying God will punish the United States for bombing Hiroshima and Nagasaki? You guys (liberal pacisfists) take rewriting history to a new level.

You should be thanking God for Truman's (a Democrat) decision to drop the bomb. A good majority of Americans would probably not be here (including the pacifist who posted at 10:08 p.m.) had we not dropped those bombs. Conservative estimates projected lives lost in the millions had we not ended the war in August of 1945. The invasion and eventual conquest of Japan was to have taken an additional three to five years to complete.

Some people just have no clue about examining history in the context of the times.

from the R-party to the D-party 25 years ago. McSame won't choose Romney--his mommy thinks Romney is slimy and on this one point, I agree with a McCain. Romney is far too self-serving to accept the "warm pitcher of spit role" with someone who truly despises him. The only way for John-boy to win is to choose someone young enough to balance his age, but not too young. (Cross out Jindal, check mark for Romney.) McCain desperately needs to appeal to the religious right, and that points 180 degrees from Romney, and directly at Huckabee, a darling of the religious right.

I propose that McC choose Dick Cheney for veep (there are no term limits for VP, just president). That way we can have two morons who will spend all day screaming at each other, each with one foot in the grave. (I half expect Cheney to refuse to leave office on Jan 20 anyway.) The neo-cons who hate McC would be happy, and this ticket would appeal to democrats who would vote for it knowing that Pelosi would be president by Labor day of the first year under the succession rules.
Karl Rove knows! | 12:21 a.m. July 23, 2008
Romney is seen as a true conservative that can rally the conservatives back to the party as McCain does not excite them with his moderate background! Had Huckabee not diverted so many conservative/christian votes away from Romney, many polls showed Romney would have taken the nomination away from McCain.

There has not been a more educated, well spoken, experienced, (with a proven track record) moral family man up for consideration for this post in my lifetime. Romney has a proven track record in Mass. (the most Liberal state in the USA) and is the only politician I have ever seen that has really been able to work with both Dems and Republicans at the same time with a successful outcome.

Yes, the Constitution is truly hanging by a thread and the Republicans in power are sawing at that thread with all their might. The only part of the constitution they consider worth defending is the 2nd amendment. I too believe in the right to bare arms, which is why I always wear short-sleeve shirts.

Obama should be kicking McCain's Butt right now but isn't.

It has something to do with the Africian American issue, but not so much as ut has to do with Obama being a chamleon.

He cannot flip flop, because he has never flipped in the first place.

Sometime people flirt with the prettiest girl at the bar, but they always come home at night. There is safrty and security that comes with a known entity.

Obama sounds pretty now, but when the time comes, McCain has always been there, he could have had an early release from Vietnam, but refused to leave his men behink, a decision that meant further torture, and possible death.

People long for character, and Obama speaks character well, bit when it comes down to it, he was raised muslim, flipped to angry Black Church for Chicago street cred, did not wear a flag pin, and is named Barak Hussein Obama.

Romney is Mormon, not a favorite of the evangelicals, but better than a former muslim.

MITT ROMNEY has a reputation and a following that is nationwide. He was born in the midwest, lived in the East, saved the United States Olympics heroically, and has so much to offer economically to the whole US. If the 3 networks don't kills him, the smart reporters in the largest newspapers accross the country who are intelligent thinkers have written many many articles detailing Mitt's incredible virtues. Many hail him as being totally worthy of being McCains VP first pick running mate. He speaks well, he brings fresh experience and enthusiasm to the table and a willingness to compromise to work out the problems we face. He knows the value of WORK, INTEGRITY and FRUGALITY. He would help this nation clear the debt that we are in and help get us out of the red and back on the road to PROSPERITY!!! I have confidence in Mitt & Ann Romney partnered with John & Cindy McCain.
have I left anyone out? | 2:09 a.m. July 23, 2008
Romney brings a lot to the table, for many sectors of the electorate. As a lifelong hunter and life member of the NRA, he understands the midwest/southern voter. As an assault weapons ban supporter, he gains the sympathy of the eastern seaboard. As a civil rights marcher/civil rights march observer, he will make inroads with African Americans. As a pro-choice, pro-gay candidate, he represents the far left of the political spectrum; as a pro-life, anti-gay candidate, he can count on the Far Right for support. Utilizing illegal labor for lawn care and mansion upkeep, he represents the open borders crowd; while his strick anti-illegal immigration positions agree with those of the minutemen.
Clearly, nobody can bring the nation together like Romney! He really DOES represent us all!

If McCain doesn't pick Mitt, he will be a fool. After all this time he doesn't know who will be the one that is on his side then he doesn't know whats best for the country. I don't know any of the other men that is being spoken for the VP spot. They haven't given McCain as much support publicly, so I don't know them. Huckabee would not make a good president, so he wouldn't make a good VP either. Anyway, McCain will choose, just hope he chooses wisely.

To It Really Doesn't Matter: 'Mormons' are not instructed on how to vote. We believe in agency. The 'Mormon' leaders encourage their members to get out and vote and do their civil duty, but never tell us how to vote.
To What America Wants..'Mormons' ARE Christian. The true name of our church is "The Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter Day Saints". The nickname Mormon came from anti-Mormons because of the Book of Mormon. If you lookd at that book you would find that it is all about the teachings of Jesus Christ. The definition of Christian is a believer and follower of Christ. You may have lived in Utah, but you never looked for yourself what The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is all about.

Right on, M. Allred

I would hope that McCain would realize the genuine qualifications of Mitt Romney because he would round out the presidency with his leadership, financial and business background. McCain is particularly strong on foreign affairs and military matters as well as brings a wealth of government experience. He also has established relationships with many who he would need to work with.
This could be a great team also because I believe Mitt Romney to be a true team player. He has the ability to recognize his role and not overstep his bounds. This is the kind of support a president would need.

Here's what Israeli President Peres had to say after meeting with Obama (from what I read on MSNBC):

"An aide to the president said Obama showed a "strong grasp" of regional affairs and that "he said he came to listen and learn."

Sounds to me like Obama will do just fine as President in the delicate and precarious areas of the world (despite what McCain and others would say to the contrary).

Romney should get onboard with Obama. They would make for a good presidentcy. Romney should put nation before party and seek the VP with Obama who is certain to be the next president.
