If there is case for protecting Teresa Jeffs, it is up to the CPS to make it. Natalie Malonis is supposed to represent her client. Teresa should not be ignored if she does not consider herself to be a victim.

The question I have is why was Natalie Malonis called to testify in front of the grand jury? It seems stupid. Obviously, she would assert attorney-client privileges. And why were the FLDS members called without plea deals? Obviously, they would assert their 5th amendment rights. Was this last hearing a formality, just to get these people on record asserting their rights? I don't quite get the need for that. I guess there are a few children in the bunch who could testify because they haven't committed crimes.

The Teresa Jeffs case is sad. No normal teenager would want to be with a man who is more than double her age. These children have been groomed to desire these older men. I had thought that these girls would have felt like slaves and been very upset by this, but they are taught to be thrilled. It's chilling that children can be conned into anything. She has no clue how she has been used. And to think that her father married some young thing on the same day. This makes me wonder if Jeffs is trading off his young daughters in exchange for young girls for himself.

The problem with being raised in an environment where sexual abuse is rampant is that you would not consider it sexual abuse. If the other 14, 15, and 16 year olds are getting married, then you must qualify for marriage at 15? If your father has wives that were married to him younger than you...well then you are going to think it's okay to get married (as what number wife?) at 15. Let's not forget...this is not even an attempt at a legal marriage, but a "spiritual marriage" which may or may not be considered legal depending on the situtation (if the consenting partner were a legal adult).

No. Utah sees a major earthquake every 350 years. Last one? 350 years ago.
