Microsoft's Vista pokey, problematic

Probably a good call as the type of skills required to do a bespoke install of
Vista are fairly specialised and the type of issues you are finding could take a
while to fix. I recently opted for a pre-install which came from the
manufacturer. The performance and functionality of this combination is truly
amazing and would not have had this experience, I fear, if I had went down the
route you opted for. The way I look at the whole XP / Vista thing is that you
should go with what ever you feel is right for you. Vista is dragging IT into
the next decade of computing and that may not be for everyone - remember there
are still plenty of COBAL programmers out there and I guess in 20 years from now
there will still be a host of people using XP.

That's just the problem, Allan. Only geeks like you can get Vista to work.
The rest of us should just get MACs.

I agree with Bad Vistas. Vista needs more beta testing by regular people which
is MS standard operating procedure. I still use XP and bought several licenses
of XP to keep us on XP at work for a few more years...despite Microsoft.
