One thing I see a lot is that idea that both parties are to blame in a divorce. I'm sure that's true many times. But I also think that's a way for people to think they have a lot more control than they do. In my family, there have been very sweet, loving spouses that have been abandoned, and very difficult spouses that are endured, and not left.
Sadly, there is no way for the true situation to be know by the courts, or anyone else. The laws will never be able to mete out perfect justice.

K. Human beings are to the best of my knowledge the only species on Earth that delay their lives do to any kind of Social Filters. Education is a Social Filter, Religion is a Social Filter, "the Scriptures say "you must be equally yoked." Yes lots of Women Merry Men who have their Education and are well on their way to success, and are beyond the Basic Struggle. Ten years difference in age is an acceptable limit. My wife is 46 and I am 62. We get along well. Our youngest child is almost 18, EFY and then Girls Camp cost me a bundle. I am a Convert of 20+ years and I understand life at a very down to Earth and sometimes Raw level. I am a work in progress and it appears the World is Not. However I live on a Small Rock, so I may be wrong. I do know that if you check in at 12 or 13 waiting till 27 is Abnormal and unnecessary. Doing that does not make you a Hero either Gender. Once gone its gone. I would and will pay for my kids School what I would have paid Married or Not.

Beyond the 3 Fold Mission of the Church. The Church stresses Education (get as much as you can). and Marriage, (get married and start your families as soon Post Mission as possible).This is one reason why the Perpetual Education Fund was set up. Some returned Missionaries choose the Military as a way to secure their Education (G.I. Bill). Sadly some die. If the Mission starts at 19 after a year of College and Institute. The joy is over by 21 and the Plan can continue. I remember when I went to Institute 1989-1991 (Graduating I never expected and is to this day on of my Top 3 Mormon Moments), the Students both Male and Female getting their Mission Calls and the excitement there would be. Of course you are escaping a Small College, EAC in a Small town. A lot where local kids and Mission was an Expectation, but some where not. Most of the departures where joyful. With the hope of a quick return and a continued Education and of course Temple Marriage. Reality 50% of RM's lose their TR's within the First Year of Return. Education and marriage is the key and Parents should help.

When I got married, I buckled down to the business of being a wife. I quit school and learned domestic skills and gardening. My husband was a success and so was our marriage.
But then I kept myself pretty, slim and looked like a girl.
I was frugal with money, and didn't "want" the world.
Our apartment was always clean and in good order, and good meals were the rule.
I treated my guy like a man, and never dominated him or made him feel second-rate.
I gave my husband reason to trust me and believe in me. I had morals and convictions and he knew where I stood(by him)
I say it is still true, that if you want a real man, try being a real woman. If you want a marriage that will last, YOU can make it happen.

The history of relationships between men and women are overflowing with tales of deceit and treachery - from the beginning of time. The question that needs to be asked is "why in a country founded on the principles of liberty, freedom, and self determination, do we have the judiciary meddling in these relationships"? The answer is easy, it's a multi-billion dollar industry constructed by the legal profession(?) to get at people's assets by manipulating them during the failure of their private relationships. Protecting children during divorce doesn't require the drama that family courts induce into a marital breakup. Child support is expected. Alimony for bad choices is nothing less than involuntary servitude; especially when it is permanent as many states have. A marriage license makes the state judiciary a preeminent 3rd party in your marriage and the only way to prevent it is not to get married in the first place. But then, the demons of family law will still find a way to meddle.

The article fails to mention that the husband paid his entire way through school while the wife started a successful business.

For some reason it is assumed that the husband caused the divorce. Both parties were at fault.

Clearly one sided reporting with some sort of agenda on the side.

Fact 1: 75% of divorces are initiated by women.
Fact 2: 96% of alimony recipients are women.

It's almost like ringing the cash register. In what other form of contract law, does the same party breaking the contract ends up receiving the damage-awards? You guessed it, none! Only in the post-no-fault-era Marriage Law.

I don't know why articles like this fail to bring up these statistics. How many trailing spoused really "put the other through school"? What does that even mean anyway?
