John Beck FIN | 12:48 a.m. July 20, 2008
The ultra accurate signal-caller was without question my favorite player in the 2007 NFL Draft, regardless of position. I say without hesitation and with the utmost of confidence that I believe were all going to be talking about John Beck and what a phenomenal career he had in the National Football League 10-12 years down the road. If I had the number 1 pick in the 2007 NFL Draft, I needed a quarterback, and I ran the right offensive system,(West Coast), then I would choose John Beck. He is pretty much the perfect quarterback and has footwork and physical tools that would make any offensive coordinator or quarterbacks coach in America downright giddy.

After Tuna works on his protection, running game and defense, Beckwill be a premier player in the league, ala Steve Young

Thanks for the Steve Young recap and the John Beck reminders. It's way too early to know what kind of career Beck will have. Even at the end of the 2008 season, it'll still be too early. The Falcons let Brett Favre get away after mediocre early seasons. Troy Aikman had a HORRIBLE rookie year. It usually takes time for a QB to develop in the NFL.

I wish Beck all the best. He had an amazing senior year and endured a lot of criticism and turmoil during his time at BYU.

I still can't figure out why all of the UofU fans keep posting on these boards on BYU articles. Seriously...get a life.

Remember when Steve Young was the Burger King a few years back? It was the same play commented above. That jump started Young's career. What a great commercial. To this day, I love the BK Whopper with everything! I think Young should go back to doing BK commercials. He was better at being "the king" than even Elvis, but I wonder if he got any royalties for it?

"(Why al the tawk abwt Steve Yong?)"--yu spel gud.

Because Steve Young came from the same unique University (and Alex Smith came from the same Unique state).

Young had a difficult beginning (same as Alex Smith), and it seemed to me that some of the posters were having a difficult time understanding that becoming an NFL quarterback can take some time, and what could be a better example than a former cougar that struggled earlier on only to win a superbowl, be chosen superbowl MVP, and league MVP.

Beck and Smith the opportunity to be something great. BYU is known as the quaterback factory, and to see how a different quarterback made it should give hope to both and help to quiet some of the fans anger.
