"Climate Change" again? In the 70's it was the coming "ICE AGE". The "fact" that the world needs to reduce it's dependency on carbon based products is probably a good thing. Trying to create a panic based society is not. Trying to protect the enviroment is a good thing. Trying to eliminate all of mankinds effects on the world is not. We are an important part of the world. Extremism is a bad thing. A dry desert is not. The west is and has been a desert, and trying to make it into the midwest will never work. Look at California, a desert once, and it will be again. Try desalination, there is a lot of water to work with. Besides, in a mere 6 billion years the sun will swell and we will all be toast.
When is this going to occur? | 10:25 a.m. July 21, 2008
Because 20 years ago, James Hansen of NASA publicly predicted pretty much the same thing.

Yet here we are in 2008 and the average global temperature is acutally lower than it was in 1988.

So when is this horrible disaster going to occur?

When are Utah's ski resorts going to close up shop, instead of setting records for visitation every year since the Olympics?

And when is Lake Powell supposed to go dry, instead of rising about 80 feet like it did this year?

A note to the EPA and environmentalist community: There's a nice children's book called "The Little Boy Who Cried Wolf". Read it.

Sking on July 4th, gee were is the decreased snow pack. Averages are averages. excess and deficits are normal in the desert we live in. The global models are flawed and have not accounted for the stagnet temperature rise over the last decade.

It is time to look outside Utah at what is happening in the real world. You people are in deep denial of what is happening around the world just because you can not see beyond your own front yard. The sea ice melt (old ice) in the artic is almost to the North pole. A ship can now be sailed through the Northwest Passage for the first time in recorded history, the ice is melting. Great shelves of ice are breaking off in Antartica, floating in the Southern Ocean as ice bergs disruping shipping. Greenland is planting crops in new areas that were once coverd by ice. The list goes on and on, but you live in Utah so you are safe.
NO, there is no global warming in Utah it is all a myth. I don't take these warnings as scare tacticts or fear mongering but for what they are, warnings of things that are happening and am prepareing to make lifestyle changes accordingly.
Remember if ye are prepared ye shall not fear.

SLMG,
I wonder if past societies fell victim to such mass hysteria whenever the climate has shifted either way. Of course climate change exists, but humanity's ability to adapt is what has helped us outlast less fortunate species. Instead of using a normal phenomenon for political gain and the advancement of the liberal/environmental cause (who, due to their disdain of traditional religion have started their own), why don't we relish this opportunity to start new crops and industries? Greenland is chomping at the bit to grow more of their own food. They pay over 3.00 for a cucumber! Some animal species are thriving with the change, you should, too! And by the way, the Northwest Passage is open but still full of ice bodies and un-navigable by boat. You seem to be invested in climate change being worse than it is.
