"Holy War"?

Are you suggesting BYU is God's team?

As a cougar fan, I find that offensive. Many Utah players are religous also.
Reading Golf Books??? | 11:43 a.m. July 19, 2008
Looking at the picture accompanying the story, Louie Sakoda should be in the weight room in case he get's hit. If he goes down, that's going to be terrible for the Utes. You would hope they have learned that injury plagued seasons can be prevented in the weight room. Or are the Utes setting up excuses for when they take third in the "Mighty MWC" again?

He looks like a giant "Crane" (it's a bird)...

Either way, if he "doesn't" make it in the NFL, I'm sure he could get a good job somewhere as a "speedbump".

Really, that's what you Ute fans call it?

We BYU fans have called it the "Utah game".

I guess it is a bigger thing to you guys, often the only time you play on TV, your "Bowl Game", but usually we just have to take care of our little latch-key brother to the North before our Bowl Games. We've been nationally ranked too often to worry about you kids. I just thought that since you have been to Bowls since they diluted the system and have things like the Almond and Poinsettia bowl, you would get a life.

Actually when we BYU fans get together and talk about Big Games, it rarely involves talk of the University of Utah.

And I think it is insensitive to the "Ute Muss" to annoint BYU as God's Team, there are religous players on both teams.
Kudos to Sakoda Again | 1:54 p.m. July 19, 2008
Alright, so I already posted saying Sakoda absolutely deserves all of the accolades he gets...he's phenomenal, and I hate saying that because I really hate the Utes. But I also hate stupid people...so, to stupid BYU fans (I'm a BYU fan)--don't bash Sakoda because of his size. He's a kicker. His leg is what counts. Don't bash him reading golf stuff. Golf is without doubt the toughest mental challenge in major sports. Anybody who argues this has never played golf! Sakoda is genius for going to golf for lessons. Saying that, BYU all the way to the Fiesta, BABY!!!

Reading Golf Books
What a stupid comment about a class act. Go back to reading your golf books and leave commenting on a man's sport, up to real men.
Re-Muss-mighty Unga | 2:39 p.m. July 19, 2008
For those of you that are making fun Louie Sakoda thats right we have a good kicker/punter and you dont. And please dont say well that is all the Utes have. Because that is not true our talent is as every bit as good as the cougars in every position if not better.
Also mack is no HARVEY UNGA! so dont even try putting the 2 in the same sentence!
Are you for real. I guess you dont do your home work. Macks average run was 100.3 per game. Harvey Unga is 94.4 per game. Unga had more total yards, because Mack was out for 1 games. Mack at 1204 and Unga at 1227.
Plus I am not even worried about the cougars this year. It is all about Michigan and believe it or not Wyoming.

Go UTES
Louie is crusing | 4:25 p.m. July 19, 2008
I see it bring Wyoming with s solid hit, make up for lasr year...
utah_man18 | 7:12 p.m. July 19, 2008
Wow, I cannot believe you cougarettes are suggesting that the 7, 8, and 9 win seasons are mediocre and the bronko cougs are God's gift to football. Kudos, you've won back-to-back conference championships; funny though, when the Utes did that, we at least represented the conference well by crushing lesser teams and going undefeated (keep dreaming boys- it'll take more than a blocked field goal against truly mediocre UCLA to seriously catapult you into the BCS picture, not just in the pre-season). Oh well, keep living in 1984!
Oh, and please don't compare Louie being a great player to that payne kid being byu's best player a few years back- Louie is one of the best players on a good team, payne was sadly the best of those crappy cougs of not so long ago. I also sincerely hope people continue to count out Brian Johnson; he'll be laughing all the way as he proves max hall is certainly not untouchable when it comes to quarterbacking.
re:Utah Man 18 | 1:02 a.m. July 20, 2008
Easy answer. Were the 7, 8, and 9 win seasons Dominating, Good, OK or lacking?

Would you be happy with the average, an eight win season this year?

"it'll take more than a blocked field goal against truly mediocre UCLA to seriously catapult you into the BCS picture, not just in the pre-season)." Did that go in as a W or an L?

If BYU wins all it's games on Blocked kicks will that be an undefeated season still, or do we not count blocked kicks? If Michigan loses again this year in the Big House on a blocked kick, will the Utes take the victory, or give it over to Michigan?

"I also sincerely hope people continue to count out Brian Johnson"

like the coaching staff inserting Louck to run the ball? Why not put the ball in the hands of your best player?

" he'll be laughing all the way"

Is that a Mike Samford laugh when he watched the game tapes laugh at UNLV?

Please, Utah, do it on the field, so that when we play you the storyline isn't Nayionally Ranked BYU vs. Underachieving Utes again.

We have a right to have the game mean something-too.
re:Reading Golf Books""" | 1:06 a.m. July 20, 2008
How does that help when a D-lineman levels him, and he gets carried out on a stretcher, and spends the season in street clothes.

Those guys fro Michigan are way bigger that Louie.

Cougar Fans are about the worst fans ever. Almost as embarrassing as Oakland Raider fans. Remember the Cougar fan who ran onto the field and tackled the Ute cheerleader who was carrying a flag. Typical BYU garbage...

It will be a great year to watch the Cougars "fully invest" themselves into a 6 - 6 season.

RE: RE: Anonymous | 12:06 p.m. | 5:10 p.m. July 23, 2008
WOW. You have GOT to be joking me. I AM A COUGAR FAN, GENIUS. Maybe if you are so smart you should read more- LIKE MY POST. I have probably met more BYU players in person than you will in a lifetime, so don't try and tell me I'm not a fan. And as for you and your little friends getting together and trying to talk about college football, if you really don't even talk about the Utah game you are ridiculous. You don't have to like your rival but it would be stupid not to respect them. Oh and it IS called the HOLY WAR. Look it up on wikipedia if you REALLY need to. Or watch some Training Table commercials...
just listen | 11:24 p.m. July 25, 2008
I am a die hard ute fan ok. and I really dont mind BYU people commenting on Ute articles, but when you just come on to try and bag on the U that ticks me off. Come on and comment on the articles just dont spend your time comming on to smack talk. It kills me to say this but both school have their ups and downs just live with it. but seriosly dont just sit at your commputer trying to bag the U if your going to do that to it on BYU articles where people wont care if you do it. PS Sakoda is amazing.
dude | 1:15 p.m. July 29, 2008
at least the Utes have made to the BCS in the last 6 years
Re: BYU's good kicker | 12:42 a.m. Aug. 16, 2008
Bingham's kicker did not choke the semifinals away. Did you know that not only is football a team sport, the kicking game has 11 players on the field during the kick, and three of them are the kicker, the deep snapper, and the holder? If you think you know a lot about Bingham's semi final game against Alta (which Alta deserved to win and did win), then you must know that Bingham's deep snap on at least one of those field misses was too high, forcing the holder to stretch up and take another second to place the ball, which in turn forced Justin Sorensen to stutter step to by more time and it completely threw his timing off. The kick must occur in an instant, and everything that happens before the kick must be very very crisp if not near perfect. Bingham's KICKING TEAM missed those kicks. Laying it all on Sorensen is like saying Dan Marino never won a super bowl. Those are simply ridiculous things to say. Bingham's kicking game was very good throughout the season, but one and maybe both missed kicks on the semi final were due to a bad snap. Get your facts.
Love the Utes, Like Byu | 7:03 p.m. Oct. 5, 2008
You all need to grow up little 3rd graders- both teams are good, and whoever wins the conference is the better team that year- everyone needs to grow up and just watch some good football. you are all a joke.
