FYI, the fastest finisher this year averaged 10 minutes per mile, in 115-120 degree heat, from elevations of 282' below sea level to about 8500' above, for over 23 hours. Runners can have water, other beverages, or ice, but no high-tech cooling devices are allowed. The idea is to test human endurance in natural conditions, so they aren't allowed to alter the environment with cooling vests and such.
