This is a poor, sad situation. That is more money than most people make in 10 years who are very well educated and good at their jobs. Quit your whining, and go to work! You will get more if you give more...
CJ is shooting himself in the foot, wasting a great talent, and possible ruining his career. When everything is said and done, he has nobody to blame but himself.
Too bad he signed out of high school, he could be heading into his fourth year of college and showcasing his potential.
Too bad he has been in the coach's dog house this last season. Space on the roster is crowded at his position. What chance has he got to develop in a youthful, talent-heavy situation, with a coach who is cautious in using developing talent / potential. Younger, inexperienced guys don't get a ton of game time.
CJ still believes in himself (so do the Jazz to a degree). CJ will be gone when the season begins. He needs to be somewhere he has an opportunity for more time on the floor. Someone will offer this gifted player at least 1.3 mil.
CJ will be a major contributor somewhere within 3 years.
CJ is going into his 4th year. Can we still be talking about his "upside". By now you either have proven yourself or you haven't. CJ has proven he is inconsistent. He needs all the help he can get!
Boozer, I hope he stays around. I don't see Miami picking him up though. They just drafted a power forward that can't play D, why do they want to pay max money for one?
The Jazz really haven't suffered when either Boozer or AK missed games the last couple of years. Jazz will find that Millsap, Okur and AK give enough production as starters. No problem replacing Boozer's rebounding. Yes, we'd miss his offense, but Deron can easily put up 25/per and AK would get more plays called for him. Millsap will score 15 just off put-backs (like Boozer's role in Cleveland).
If Kosta or Fes aren't ready to contribute, then the Jazz can find a Harpring-type player at the MLE to back up at the 4/5 (to replace Collins).
Jazz will be fine, maybe even better w/o Boozer. He was a bust offensively in the playoffs and has never shown any willingness to play tough defense.
I think O'Connor's words about tampering were meant as a pre-emptive warning to Miami. It's an indirect way off him saying "hands-off" until next summer.
Name one player who's statistical number improved after leaving the Jazz. And when you get done naming Mo Williams I will name 50 players that did just the opposite. Maybe, just maybe, Sloan and staff know how to do their job a bit better than we give them credit.
CJ wants to avoid injury; the Jazz want to avoid paying a huge amount of money for selfish attitude off the court and little productivity on the court.
That way, William's gets his big payday. He will still have the option to leave while he is still relatively young if the Jazz don't find a suitable replacement for Boozer, but he is not locked in long-term.
If he signs a long-term contract, then I think he and Boozer have talked and decided to keep the nucleus of the team together and make as many runs at a title as they can. D-Will's contract will be a tell on Boozers hand.
With CJ, every team in the NBA has a CJ MIles, a youngster with talent, but hasn't panned out yet. I wouldn't worry about CJ, players like him are a dime a dozen.
Stay in Utah or Live in Miami?
Trade him NOW!
His effort(?) in the playoffs shows he is done with the Jazz.
LHM/KO:
Cut your losses. Get some (any) value for him NOW.
