Mitt & McCain -- an UNBEATABLE team!
oh great | 6:11 a.m. July 16, 2008
Oh great, Rove is trying to help Mitt. That will surely be the kiss of death.
Indiana | 7:01 a.m. July 16, 2008
Rove is a good guy. Mitt and McCain would be good. McCain needs Mitt's leadership and many other qualities that uniquely qualify him for the vp post. He will someday make a great president.

It's early yet, I predict that soon the Mormon haters and bashers will be out in full force as well as the Mitt haters and lie pushers.

McCain and "anybody" -- a LOSING team!

The repubs have had their shot - its time to move on. Ask yourself, ala, Ronnie Regan, "Are you better off today than you were eight years ago?"
Pistol | 8:24 a.m. July 16, 2008
Go MITT in 2012!! To "get real," the real losers are Nancy Pelosi and her sad-sack team of lefties... stopping any legislative action on opening up U.S. domestic supplies of oil in ANWR and off-shore while oil prices continue to climb --killing off our economy, raising food prices, and resulting in real hardships on Americans. The Democratic leadership in both House and Senate are patehtic and out-of-touch with average americans who are having to choose between food or fuel, or medicine and fuel...There aren't enough "alternatives" yet... What are we supposed to do -- just stay home and collect welfare??
RockOn | 8:29 a.m. July 16, 2008
I would love to see Mitt give McCain some credibility as the VP if for no reason than to pull out the bigoted Mormon haters and let them be exposed for the disgusting, hateful frauds they are. Bring it on.

On the serious side (Mormon haters are just a joke), Mitt will serve McCain well. He's an asset in most close states; knows proper economics well; he's a successful leader (neither McCain or Osama have led anything significant and in Obama's case, he's led NOTHING!!); he can be articulate and can speak to the issues of the day without being a Bush guy.

Good choice. Mitt and McCain.
Bad choice. Obama and anyone.
We are better off... | 8:36 a.m. July 16, 2008
Yes we are. We don't have a president having "relations" in the oval office and then pointing his finger at the camera denying it. We don't have a president that lies under oath, we don't have "blackhawk down" failed attempts with military coverups. We aren't blowing up religious compounds and setting them on fire killing men women and children. We aren't having our embassy's blown up our our battleships rammed with exploding boats and doing nothing about it. We aren't giving economic favors to China- a communist country the direct antithesis to democracy and we don't have classified documents being shoved down cabinet members pants as they walk out the archives. We are winning a war despite DEMS efforts to undermine american troops and their efforts to fight terrorists and we actually get detailed plans of action not hot air of speculation.

We've seen what a democratic controlled congress can do...change the menu! Way to go to work Dems.

Economy needs Romney.

However, maybe, Curt Bramble could brown nose enough to get a post on the Romney/McCain cabinet. After all, he is "the man". Maybe, he could intimidate McCain and his advisors that he really is "the man" instead of Romney. After all, he really deserves all the credit for Utah being the "best managed" state. That's right, even the fair and proper way of electing our representatives in Utah are "managed" by the legislature and their leadership. Governor Huntsman, you have been replaced by the current legislature. They view you as powerless.
L. G. KIRKPATRICK | 9:34 a.m. July 16, 2008
Forget it, ReThuglicans ~~ after Bushco et al., there's absolutely NO WAY this country is going to vote in another ''R'' leadership, at least not until the ''D'' team gets its chance to muck up the country for oneor two terms.

Sorry to have to break this to you all, but that's the message from my dream last night.
Brother Chuck Schroeder | 9:35 a.m. July 16, 2008
Before this Utah / Mormon feeding frenzy gets started here let's tell the truth's here. Rove was instrumental in helping Bush monopolize the support of evangelical voters and making religious rhetoric an essential part of presidential campaigns, something we are seeing plenty of this year. Rove attended the University of Utah, the University of Texas at Austin and George Mason University, he does not hold a degree.Rove reportedly dropped out of the University of Utah to become the executive director of the College Republican National Committee (CRNC) from 1970-1972. Romney's credentials for the No. 2 spot on the GOP ticket?. Republican Mitt Romney secure the party's vice presidential nomination?, MaCain HATES ALL MORMON'S, he can't stand them, he would MUCH RATHER have a moderate/liberal like himself, as Governor Charlie Crist that acts like a Republican when TV Cameras are pointed at him only is, than a true Conservative and a Mormon like Mitt Romney. If McCain dies or can't hold Office, it's the VP that fills his Chair. It is HE that picks the VP, not the GOP. In short, Karl Rove can't help him nor Mitt Romney. He can only stir up hope and hype.
Anonymous | 9:41 a.m. July 16, 2008
In "The Dark Side," Jane Mayer chronicles the terrible, destructive decisions the Bush administration made in the name of fighting terrorism.

The GOP as we know it got the executive powers they craved post 9/11 but they are now seen as worse than the Nixon era.

Frightening people every one of them!
Better Off? | 9:48 a.m. July 16, 2008
What? You really believe we are better off? The economy is in the dumps. Gas prices have quadrupled. Food prices have gone through the roof. Housing prices have more than doubled. We're having to bail out banks and mortgage lenders (a bad idea either way). The world is a much more dangerous place. We're dumping tons of our resources into a war built upon lies. The environment is falling to pieces. I'd much rather have a president that get's a little action in the oval office every so often than the horrific crisis we now face.
you fools | 10:07 a.m. July 16, 2008
You pro-current administration banterers make me sick and ought to be ran out of town for your ignorant remarks. We are far worse now than we were 8, 12 or even 15 years ago. You fools have your talk radio and church to blind you to the truth. Travel, read, educate and engage yourself and then you will see the truth.
Re: you fools | 10:46 a.m. July 16, 2008
We all HOPE that Republican Mitt Romney WILL secure the party's vice presidential nomination?, However as I have said, Sen. McCain HATES ALL MORMON'S, remember that, he just can't stand them, he would MUCH RATHER have a moderate/liberal far to the left just like himself, such as Governor Charlie Crist is that ONLY acts like a Republican when the TV Cameras are pointed at him and they got him on tape, than a true Conservative and a Mormon like Mitt Romney, and believe me when I say America needs a Mormon President real soon to. If Sen. McCain dies because of his old age or can't hold Office because of anyother reason from his health and age, it's the VP that fills his Chair we all know this and NOT The Speaker Of The House. It is HE "McCain" that picks the VP to run with him, not the GOP as you may think. In short, Karl Rove can't help him nor Mitt Romney. He can only stir up hope and hype and a Utah feeding frenzy in the blogs is all. This is a true fact. Perhaps it's time a Mormon was our President to.
MittNo | 10:50 a.m. July 16, 2008
Outside of Utah, Mittney is an 'also ran'. In any case, we're going to let obama have a go.
With friends like Rove... | 10:54 a.m. July 16, 2008
Rove helping Romney is like Jesse Jackson helping Obama, or Rev. Wright helping Obama, or Father Pflager helping Obama, or The New Yorker helping Obama.
McCain would do well not to have any photos taken of him with Rove, or GWB either for that matter.
McCain needs some serious campaign strategy help, but Karl ain't the one.
Time out | 11:00 a.m. July 16, 2008
Chill, "you fools," and remember that the Rush Limbaugh talk show has the most educated radio audience. Seriously, look it up. And people educated in economics know that the Dems aren't offering any viable solutions to the problems incipient with increased worldwide demand for oil with the development of China, India, etc. In fact, the Dems plan for futher 'windfall profit' taxes on oil companies will force the oil companies to charge us even more at the pump so they can afford to keep producing any at all! It's amazing that the economy is still experiencing any growth at all given that demand for oil has driven up the price so high so quickly, dragging up the price of food and other commodities with it. Answer: more domestic oil while researchers develop other alternatives. It will take at least a decade for any economy to get off oil in any significant degree as it drives all our trade.
Better off | 11:08 a.m. July 16, 2008
It does not take long for the brainless to trot out Clinton as the "boogey" man for all our problems.

He did have "relations" (with that woman).

Did anybody die?

Over 4000 American Soldiers have died in a questionable War that is bankrupting our country.

Gas is 4.50 and rising.

401 K's have lost ground in this economy.

The employment and housing picture remains bleak.

We are better off?

Heaven help us all!

to "Better Off?" and "you fools" | 11:14 a.m. July 16, 2008
you two bloggers are the scary ones, listen to yourselves, please take this as constructive as possible... get help, get help now, you talk about educating and engaging oneself, i am afraid for you, if you call yourself educated and engaged with this sort of talk and behavior--i think, no, i know, you must not have stayed around for the FULL education and engagement. I guess the statement, "I'd much rather have a president that get's a little action in the oval office every so often...", says it all, and you wander why we are in this so called "horrific crisis". "Better Off" and "you fools", my advice is to take a seriously long look at yourself in the mirror-- look deep and hopefully you will find some small spark of reality still burning. I think that everybody can be helped and change, even yourselves. I really am serious, you have lost your way in life, but do not give up, you can still try to learn (even educate and engage) what really is the "TRUTH". It is definitely not on the path you currently travel. GOOD LUCK to you both, you will need it!!!
Romney | 11:30 a.m. July 16, 2008
Knows more about the economy, finances, etc. Than Obama ever will. Mitt would be a great choice. and No I'm not a Mormon or even a Republican. I'm an American who's see's Obama as all fluff. He sounds like the guy that ran in our high school for studnet body president.
NJP | 11:31 a.m. July 16, 2008
I love how the media analysis the relationships of the people in politics. Like they know what is in the minds of the individual. Rove probably thinks just what he stated. No underground reasoning and back room plotting intended. Reminds me of rumor spreading to get the opposite effect. This reporter needs a reality check.
Parker | 11:32 a.m. July 16, 2008
McCain can't use Romney as his VP candidate not just because of the usual anti-Mormon sentiment, but because in this case it eliminates one of Obama's key liabilities -- Rev. Wright. The question to Obama is "How could you sit in his church for 20 years and not know he was a racist?" That's a valid question, but if Mitt is a candidate, the question to him is "How could you go to a church -- and on a mission for a church -- that was overtly racist until 1978?"

Sorry kids, if there is an LDS VP (s)he'll come from the next generation.
Rove is a control freak | 11:49 a.m. July 16, 2008
Control freaks like Rove only care about one thing and one thing only:
to preserve the power held by established institutions. It's not about balanced budgets or families or pulling yourself up by your bootstraps. All that is claptrap designed to make it confuse otherwise goodhearted people who are too busy with their ears glued to neocon ilk such as Rush Limbaugh.
Alex | 12:39 p.m. July 16, 2008
Parker:

"but if Mitt is a candidate, the question to him is 'How could you go to a church -- and on a mission for a church -- that was overtly racist until 1978?' "

In the eternal scheme of things, not being racist is more important than being perceived as not being a racist. However, in the political world, perception unfortunately is reality. Having Mitt Romney as VP would eliminate the Jeremiah Wright controversy from the debate.

While I'm a Mitt Romney nutjob, I like him too much to want him as VP. I don't want him to have to restrain his gag reflex with McCain's platform, which is liberal at worst and watered down conservative at best.

We can afford to make the VP a bargaining chip. Besides being nominally acceptable on substance, all the VP has to do is to produce lots of warm fuzzies. Those who haven't made up their mind by in large are going to be swayed on that basis. I say nominate Colin Powell. That way you can nullify the identity politics that you know darn well the democrat party are going to insinuate into the election.
Tommy | 12:46 p.m. July 16, 2008
To Better Off (referring to Clinton) asking, "Did anybody die?"

Yes.

During Clinton's term prior to 9/11, intelligence officials identified four of the 19 9/11 hijackers as a terrorist threat, including al-Qaida leaders Mohamed Atta and Marwan al-Shehhi whose planes destroyed the World Trade Center and killed over 2,700 people.

The information was not acted on because of prohibitions against intelligence sharing implemented by former Deputy Attorney General Jamie Gorelick, installed in her post at the insistence of Hillary Clinton.

The Sudanese repeatedly offered up Bin Laden to the U.S. beginning in 1996. Bill Clinton's response? Silence. Clinton allowed Bin Laden to slip away and metastisize.

As long as politicans like Clinton treat terrorists as criminals rather than enemy soldiers, it provides the terrorists with all the rules they will thoroughly exploit. And now, thanks to the Left, these terrorists will exploit: the Miranda, right to see classified information, speedy trials, benefit of reasonalbe doubt, right to remain silent.

That is not all. The book, YEAR OF THE RAT outlines in graphic detail the selling of U.S. national security secrets by Clinton-Gore for illegal and treasonous campaign contributions. Remember Johnny Chung?

To L.G. Kirkpatrick | 12:51 p.m. July 16, 2008
What you had was not a dream, it was a nightmare. You are so creative--ReThuglicans--Wow! I wish I had said that. I reiterate that history will vindicate the Bush Administration notwithstanding the constant barrage of hate from the Bush-bashers. The only thing Kirkpatrick got right was that the "D" team would be first class mucker-uppers, if elected, which they definitely will not be. A fruitful question for Better Off? Which party controls the Legislative Branch of the U.S. Government with a 9% approval rating? Just one prime example of the Democrat Congress contributing significanly to, if not indeed being responsible for, the problems you enumerate: To which party does that pillar of virtue, Chris Dodd, the chairman of the Banking Committee which is investigating CountryWide Mortgage, from which said Chris Dodd received a sweetheart mortgage deal, belong? Coincidence? Yeah, and I'm King George. Do we have a fox in the hen house? Obviously. Yes, Better Off, you correctly identify horrendous problems our country is facing, most of which you can lay at the door of the obstructionist, do-nothing Democrat Congress and the likes of Chris Dodd.
Same old story | 12:51 p.m. July 16, 2008
I'm sure few conservatives have ever heard of Goethe. This reminds me of his work "Faust"

We have Rove the apex of evil and a people whose focus is winning.

Mephistopheles(the devil)makes a bet with God: he says that he can deflect God's favorite human being (Faust), who is striving to learn everything that can be known, away from righteous pursuits.

Faust makes an arrangement with the devil: the devil will do everything that Faust wants while he is here on earth, and in exchange Faust will serve the devil in hell. Faust's arrangement is that if during the time while Mephistopheles is serving Faust, Faust is so pleased with anything the devil gives him that he wants to stay in that moment forever, he will die in that instant.

Hey, so what? This is like the Winter Games. Winning is the only thing of value.

The more I learl the more I feel like neither McCain or Obama are what America needs right now. Our coutry is in a financial crisis on EVERY level and I have not heard either of these canidates speak intelligently about this problem. Honestly they both sound just like Bush, "waving a magic wand" and hoping the sparkly prop will distract people form the issue, but neither of them have the understanding and/or fortitude to step up to it.

I guess it makes sense, if either of them really understood the situation and communicated the gravity of it to the American people they would never be elected. Bad news doesn't win votes.
politics is fun! | 1:46 p.m. July 16, 2008
Forget distancing him from the president, Romney needs to distance himself from Congress!

Didn't you see the most recent approval ratings: President Bush - 28%; Congress - 18%! President Bush is ten points ahead of the democratic-controlled, do-nothing Congress! Quite telling!
DC | 2:05 p.m. July 16, 2008
To "Same Old Story"

I'm not sure what would have given you the idea that "few conservatives have ever heard of Goethe". I am more deeply conservative than most people who post on this blog, and I first read Faust in German when I was 15 years old. The story of the perils attendant on intellectual hubris and the fundamental skepticism about man's over-reaching are as profoundly "conservative" as anything in literature, which is why Goethe and the Faust narrative are perennial favorites of traditional conservatives. Since you seem unaware of this, I would have to guess that your view of the world -- like that of most liberals - is based on limited experience of the world as it actually is. Perhaps you are simply quite young, and that limited experience is therefore perfectly understandable.
Ignorance is Bliss | 2:19 p.m. July 16, 2008
The one mistake we conservatives can consistently count on liberals to make is to assume that conservatives are ignorant and ill informed. Keep thinking that way. That mindset has kept your party out of the White House for the past forty years. Thanks, Same Old Story, for your incredible and infinite wisdom and insight into interpreting Goethe's Faust for us ignorant conservatives. Although Goethe might be proud of you, your condescending , "let them eat cake" attitude will not help you win the White House in November. It certainly did't help Marie Antoinette.

A little knowledge is a dangerous thing.

Better off... You obviously are not a tax payer, and my guess is that you don't have a clue about being responsible for the bugetary needs of a family let alone a company or a Governmental Entity....

You probably don't understand the relationship of supply demand or the impact that it has on prices and/or futures....

The only thing you have right in the boring dribble that you throw out is that we are in a tough economic environment right now.... some of that is caused by our decision to confront terrorism over in the mideast as opposed to doing it in the streets of America (which I, for one, prefer, even if it causes some economic pain... The majority of the economic problems however, center around Energy and the Democratic Congresses refusal to give our producers the freedom to go and get it...We've heard all about how long it would take, how the oil companies already have access to land they're not using, and that we need to conserve, and that we need to go after renewable sources, blah, blah, blah.... What we really need is for you and your Democratic buddies to simply get out of the way.
This is the time. | 3:05 p.m. July 16, 2008
This is the time to use the brains that God gave you and focus on the issues & the facts. The economy is the most serious threat to our way of life right now. Gas prices are the cause. There are four basics to this crisis. # 1 World demand for oil has increased. # 2 Oil companies are sitting on oil leases, because they are in the business of making money. And it is working. #3 Our Government is, and has been, totally incompetent in preparing for this crisis. Both on the democractic and Republican sides. This is not just about Bush. Clinton put his stamp on the ANWR decision. #4 The environmental movement has allowed the incompetent to rule the competent in Washington. (That also means that in elections the incompetent have ruled the competent.)
Conclusion: Since both parties have been incompetent. We all better get the facts about what each side is going to try to do about this current crisis and get behind them.(One of the Parties will have control. I applaud Bush for his stance on offshore drilling. Something needs to change the dynamics of the oil lease situation. It's not about the past.
CTMac | 3:08 p.m. July 16, 2008
We, as a nation, are FAR worse off now than 8 years ago. Gas and energy prices are the main cause. The blame? Well, who is preventing us from drilling? Who is preventing us from creating more power plants (esp nuclear)? Who is preventing coal to oil? Who is preventing energy independence?

Our congress has the lowest approval rating ever and guess who controls it?

Keep in mind we havent had a serious terrorist attack (other than illegal immigrants killing / robbing / raping / kidnapping) on our soil since 9/11.
Brighamite | 3:23 p.m. July 16, 2008
People give presidents both too much blame and too much credit. If things are going bad he gets blamed. If things are going good, the same is true. Presidents have little power other than what congress gives them. The same is true vise versa. It's called checkes and balances. You cannot blame the entire economic crisis on president Bush. You cannot blame all the environmental problems on Bush either. President Bush has done both good things and bad things. Many of the economic problems have come about in the last two years since a democratic congress has come into power. I'm not entirely blaming our problems on congress either but I'm sure they played their role.

I was watching American Experience on PBS, a liberal network, the other day. The episode was about President Bush Senior. They admitted that he was responsible for the economy being good during Clinton's terms. It started to slide downward at the end of Regans second term. Bush senior did not do anything about it till the end of his second term. By then it was too late for the changes to take effect before the election.
Time | 3:34 p.m. July 16, 2008
Time. The dollar is worth half of what it was worth eight years ago. If you take $4.40 (the current price of gas) divide by 2 you get $2.20. What is the causation?
Gregg | 3:46 p.m. July 16, 2008
The dialog here reminds me of spoiled brats. Last night I was talking with some Mexican nationals in this country (legally I presume). They were talking about the whinning going on about the economy. Everyday in Mexico (and many parts of the world) they are constantly in worse economies, threats of danager, proverty, crime... We whine here because our 3rd TV breaks or our second car needs repair. Our economy is doing pretty good compared to anywhere else in the world. Our healthcare is best in the world (where else would you go for open heart surgery).
Quit whinning and thinking that the Government is responsible for all your ills. The Government screws up everything it touches.
Congress has the loowest approval rating ever - because they want to take over everything.

but someone like Parker can run his ..off , anyways here's what i had to say...how come the state of utah was the very last state to allow native americans the vote...1954..then if one goes to any of the prevailing counties with a large amount of native american populations in this state ...millions upon millions of dollars have literally come from the native people to provide many jobs in counties such as san juan via the school district, health , education ..then check the employment rolls , one finds a huge , huge disparity in percentage..yet the old adage "carrying them upon our backs" seems quite inadequate , especially in a county with 55% native population such entities as law enforcement have grown to include only certain family names on the roll...whereas the Native involvement in these areas have led to a monopoly for the non-native..this is not accusations but fact, so Parker learn to tell it like it is once in a while...you can fool some of the people some of the but you can't fool all of the people...numbers tell the story and attitudes relay it!
GW conversatives v. Ditto heads | 3:52 p.m. July 16, 2008
DC you bring up some interesting points about Faust. I miss the Goldwater and Buckley conservatives. Ditto heads see reading as an elitist activity.

I'm sure DC understands about statistics. Congress gets low rating and congress is lead by a slim margin of democrats so, the people polled hate democrats?

DC do you think this is another intelligent explanation for these results?

We saw a democratic congressman elected in a conservative district in Mississippi. Bush carried this district by eighteen votes. It takes sixty votes to stop a republican filibuster and sixty-six votes to over ride a veto.

Can you link the dissatisfaction with Bush and voters being sick of republican obstructionism?

This is also possible. Robotically blaming democrats is illogical.

"we havent had a serious terrorist attack (other than illegal immigrants killing / robbing / raping / kidnapping) on our soil since 9/11."

If Bush was serving the terrorist goal being a great recruitment tool why would they attack us. This is one guess.

This guess is to make a simple point. You can't prove a negative. Terrorist didn't attack the US during the Clinton rein ether. Now, Clinton is a great president?
Alex | 3:55 p.m. July 16, 2008
Will Romney tell the truth anymore than McCain, Obama or even Paul? All this talk about the price of gasoline, and you know what? We haven't even needed it for over sixty years! Roswell really happened. Our military had been watching the flying saucers come through the Alaska-to-Florida channel for years, and finally figured out they were electromagnetic. They brought two of them down. There were survivors. Witnesses. PLENTY of physical evidence, which was all neatly cleaned up and trucked off to what later became known as Wright-Patterson AFB. Over 600 US and foreign military witnesses have now come forward. They tell about the lies, murders and cover-ups, all for one purpose: To keep the status-quo.

Alex | 3:59 p.m. July 16, 2008

The buy & sell. The rich in charge, the poor dying. Most US Presidents since Eisenhower didn't even know about it! Congressman Chris Cannon was told, and now he's a lame duck. We need open congressional hearings now to tell the truth about energy. Tesla was right. Edison was a pawn so JP Morgan could sell copper wiring. We don't need this "infrastructure" that keeps us working AGAINST the laws of nature. France, the UK, Brazil and many other countries are coming forward to admit we have radar evidence of saucers clocked going 12,000 mph within earth's atmosphere. Over five million people have actually SEEN them. Our military and covert groups should have come clean about this in 1947, but NO! They wanted to "control" it.

alex | 4:01 p.m. July 16, 2008

They've controlled it alright. I'll bet most of you reading this think I'm a nut case. No. I'm your neighbor. Go to YouTube right now and watch the press conference I'll bet you never saw. It's called DISCLOSURE PROJECT. After you see it, you will know the truth of how NASA is a cover-up to make you think we need rockets that burn TONS of fuel to get anywhere. It's all baloney. We can (and certain people do) get anywhere on this planet in fifteen minutes. Why are we all sitting on the freeway? Karl Rove. Ask HIM what he knows about Bentwaters, Gulf Breeze, Stevensville TX. Ask Gov. Fife Symington of McCain's state what he saw with his own eyes over his home in Phoenix, then tried to cover up. He was ridiculed so badly, it took him ten years to hold his own public news conference last November. Of course, you never saw that, either.

Will the Deseret News publish this letter? Not bloody likely. At least, not for long, so if you DO get to read it, start investigating. The truth will set the world free, as in free energy for every human being.
Aric | 3:59 p.m. July 16, 2008
You can blame the Bush administration for:
* systematically attempting to discredit or silence credible scientists who dared assert (and back their claims with solid evidence and analysis) that humans play a singificant role in climate change
* refusing to ratify the Kyoto Protocol or take any other substantive steps to reduce US emissions
* meddling with the legislative branch by issuing more signing statements than any previous president
* starting an unnecessary war that has damaged our economy, threatened our standing among world nations, and hampered our ability to bring the architects of 9/11 to justice
* overstepping his constitutional authority in the name of the "war on terror"

You can blame Rove for helping influence public discourse to the point that our country elected such a lousy president (twice!).

Mitt Romney and the rest of the Republican party would do well to distance themselves from both these guys.

One reason why I love Romney so much is he has so much in common with one of my heroes, John Kerry, whom I've met, the only exception being probably that one served in Vietnam and one didn't. Besides that, they both are smart, rich, have resided in Massachusetts, they are super educated, bright, are family men, religious men; they are honest, open-minded, liberal and fair. Neither one believes a woman should go to jail for an abortion and neither one thinks being gay should be illegal.
