A partial billing with big brother is better than nothing Utah, so no more complaining.
The D-News is so biased toward covering byU it is PATHETIC.
I don't even expect the same amount of coverage, just half or even a quarter of the coverage would be nice.
It's BYU looking to follow big brother's footsteps to the BSC party. Fot Utah its been there, done that.
Until BYU accompishes their BSC goal they will always be a pesty and annoying "little brother".
Go Cougs and go Utes as well!
May the best team win.
And having lived all over the place...
No BYU fans are not any more arrogant than any other fans.
That is what being a FAN is all about.
Cheer for your team.
Go cougars. Bust the BCS!
While Harline and Collie are in fact still open, the Yewts could just as easily have covered both and we would all be singing a different tune.
Northern Illinois is a dangerous game. UCLA will be unhappy about losing the bowl game by a fingertip. They have to go to Washington. Both teams get the infamous PAC-10 officials. I can't believe that TCU doesn't have some players. The rest of the conference will be gunning for the two-year conference champs.
Guys can get hurt. Field goals can be missed. Coverages can be blown (ask the Yewts). And then there's, well, just Tulsa days. But it's July. 12-0 is possible. Heck, we can hope for 11-1 for the Yewts. I do believe that BYU has a better program and slightly better players. But we might all be sitting around in December pointing out that Cummard is back, and asking if the winning streak in the Marriott Center can be extended.
BYU has 10x the tradition that Utah has; where I come from, no one even knows anything about the state except for the Jazz, BYU, and Mormons.
Or let's not.
Nothing magical happened for the Utes before, or since.
Since pre-season ranking and Bowl appearances apparently don't matter to either side, let's just look at the end of season rankings. I know one team finished one year 4th and 5th , and another #1 and #2.
The Utes argue that Conference doesn't matter, only road wins agains BCS teams, of course then their UCLA game was not in the Rose Bowl with PAC 10 officials. Most glaring road loss for Utah, UNLV, and we all know that scoring zero against UNLV is sort of pathetic.
BYU lost at the Rose Bowl in a winnable game, and ran the MWC undefeated for the second year. They beat on overmatched, highly motivated UCLA squad with a blocked field goal, so many Utes don't count the W. However, I have seen more blockd field goals in football, than fumbles inside the 10 at the end of the first half, so I would say UCLA was the luckier team in their loss.
All the early season talk means nothing.
But, Byu looks better than Utah This Year.
Way-way-WAY-better.
So Mr. Nit, let me tell you things from my perspective. Maybe I am one of those arrogant BYU fans you and your ilk talk about. I think we have a pretty good team. I think that with the offense that we have returning and with some luck with the defense we can have a very, very good year. With a good showing I am hoping BCS, why does that make me arrogant?
My father when 70 years old went with my brother-in-law to Husky Stadium in Seattle to watch BYU play. At that point he had paid taxes to Washington state for 45 years, raised several law-abiding children , one of whom attended UW. He isn't a football fanatic, but sat in the middle of a bunch of mean-spirited, epithet-shouting Husky fans. He made the mistake of audibly cheering for BYU when they scored. The abuse that rained down on an old man was scary. Yeah, PAC-10, class act.
If Utah posted 11-2 records, two outright MWC titles, and their entire offense was returning, what would your talk be like? Has Utah been close to a MWC championship since Whit took over? NO, yet the smack from the pill is also BCS, talk about arrogance. Typical delusion U fan.
The Ute fans are going to rant and rave about a good seaon one year, go out and underpreform, blame someone, and be a wannabe also-ran-third-in-MWC defenders again, if they even do that well.
The Des News published a nice article on BJ recently, so we can quit that whine. And didn't they say in that article that Coach Kyle's goal was to win MWC.
The last two years, they have been measured, and found to be lacking.
Before all you Ute Fans jump on anyone, stop with the excuses and jump on your coaching staff to bring home the conference title. If the conference is so weak, you should not have left it on the table the past two years.
It's easy to do. Just beat everyone,
Until then, my "Little, Jolley. Utah Utah Men- Sir", how about a little quiet time.
And, My NIT-Pack-10-country transplant, your post reeks of arrogance. I really doubt that a person of your arrogance cares about objectivity. If that means you dislike BYU, there are 64,000 ready to take your seat at LES. I tink you would be better off with the humility and seat availibility shown at RES.
If BYU left the conference, and did not play Utah, how bad do you think the sale of Ute Season Tickets would go down? Plus, would you lose the mtn on DirecTV?
Craig (afraid to show his face to present the trophy) Thompson and Dr. Chris Hill, you are welcome.
Let the BYU Bashing begin.
