Does he have a year left that would allow him to play at the Y next year? He would be fantastic coming off the bench for another MWC championship. You gotta believe USU would give us some kind of a deal on a two-fer-one.

Go Jaycee Carroll!

Class act on and off the court. You won't find a classier guy.

I have been following him in the Orlando Summer League and hopes he does as well playing in the Rocky Mountain Revue.

This guy deserves a roster spot. You won't find a harder worker than Jaycee Carroll.

Good Luck and here's to hoping some NBA team picks him up.
Congrats JC | 10:45 a.m. July 12, 2008
JC was voted to the 2nd team all league squad for the Orlando summer camp. Not bad for someone playing the point guard position for the first time in his career.

Someone needs to give this guy a shot. I know he's small, but near 50% 3 point shooters don't come along every day.

I hope Jaycee makes the team. I think he could help them. He`s sure a fine young man with alot of class.

Hey Broncster! You cannot even convince Trent Plaisted to stay at BYU for his senior season in the "Happy Valley Bubble." Without your Texas boy, BYU falls back to the pack and I would not be surprised to see UNLV, New Mexico, or San Diego State win the Mountain West in March 2009. Carroll, during his freshman year, Spencer Nelson, and Nate Harris made BYU look like a church ball team in your devotional arena! Looks like Tom Holmoe will be scheduling a lot more of the Eastern Illinois and Northern Iowas of the 1-AA college football world because USU will only play BYU home and home under new athletic director Scott Barnes. BYU better get Weber State and Southern Utah on their speed dial as well. Before you know it BYU will be inviting Utah Valley University over for dinner, when UVU finally adds football. Hawaii had BCS schools back out of their schedule last year. BYU purposely dumbs down their schedule, playing 1-AA schools. Georgia, or any other BCS bowl game team would thrash BYU worse than Hawaii. I would love to see that, however, BYU will lose to UCLA and Washington so it is a mute point.
Ag | 12:21 p.m. July 12, 2008
"moot point" However it will be great to have all the "mute BYU fans" around when the BCS boys put them in their place!

The Jazz should trade c.j. miles, jason hart, jarron collins to new jersey for Jaycee Carol. That is a 3 for one I could work with. Take our unproductive bench for a 50% brent barry style 3 point shooter. Put him in there when you need the 3 pointer, and that's all the playing time he really needs. Crowded roster solved!

Jaycee played today for Toronto and had 14 points in 14 minutes playing his 6th game in 6 days. This is a kid who just wants a chance to prove himself. Someone should pick him up. Good luck Jaycee!!

Tha question is why haven't the jazz or apparently any team offerd him contract yet?
Re Ag | 7:38 p.m. July 12, 2008
Ummm Dream on.
Logan Ag | 8:04 p.m. July 12, 2008
BYU? What makes you think he'd want to play there, even if he did have another year? They snubbed him when he came out of high school. Utah State, however, wasn't that stupid. Not to mention he's good enough to not only start for BYU, but would set multiple school records there, too.
hey now | 7:37 a.m. July 13, 2008
come on, please leave the Y-tards to their dreaming.
Re:Ag | 9:27 a.m. July 13, 2008
I think that is funny that Aggie fans are talking football trash against BYU. Making fun of BYU because they scheduled a division I-AA team? Utah State should move to Dive III. Then they might have a chance to have a .500 record. Utah State, your fans and your teams are pathetic.
Typical Ags | 12:05 p.m. July 13, 2008
Carroll makes 2 of 4 from three point land and all of a sudden the Jazz should trade three players for him! Classic! Go back to making cheese and leave the real sports teams to winning Championships! When does BYU play their retarted cousin again in football anyways? Carroll will have a nice career coaching at Utah State when his playing career flames out in about a year and his Spanish degree can't find him a job. Keep in mind these leagues are full of scrubs and not NBA level talent. C.J. Miles averaged 30 PPG in his RRR rookie year and look where he is. Carroll could always fall back on making cheese-I hear he makes a mean Monterey Jack! Go Cougs.
typical cougs | 12:44 p.m. July 13, 2008
Wow, that didn't come off as stuck up at all. Good job in proving what everybody already says about cougar fans. By the way, why don't you keep your b-ball coach out of the MTC. Just cause other teams players are "on" his campus doesn't give him the right to go after them.
RE Typical Ags | 12:56 p.m. July 13, 2008
Looks like someone skipped out of Sunday School today. I find the level of disrespect aimed towards a class act truly amazing. I'll let you get back to your rameumptom. Where ever Carroll's life takes him he will be loved and admired.
Go JC | 1:21 p.m. July 13, 2008
JC is a quality player with quality skills. BYU fans ... what's your problem? Have you seen Plaisted from the foul line? Come on. That guy has a better future as a mason then as a ball player. Relax (for once) and enjoy a nice talent coming out of Logan.
Good for JC | 1:26 p.m. July 13, 2008
I realize I don't fit in here amongst a group of largely idiot posters, mingled with a few decent ones, but as a big Cougar fan I'd just like to say Good for JC! I've always admired him and thought he was a great player.

Recruiting for university sports isn't a perfect science. If BYU had known JC would turn out this way they might have pursued him differently...hind sight is 20/20 and EVERY school, no matter which one you're posting for on this blog, makes similar mistakes.

Aggies should be glad BYU missed the boat on that one and several others. Back in 80 when I graduated from Preston High School, we had a 4 time state wrestling champ in Cordell Anderson. The Andersons ate and drank BYU. BYU didn't offer him a spot because they thought they had better at his weight class. Cordell went on to be All America at USU. So Aggie fans, rather than slamming the Cougars (even the idiot ones on these blogs) a simple "thank you" would suffice.

Good Luck to JC. There will be an NBA team out there at some point that realizes he should have been drafted!
Rich | 2:24 p.m. July 13, 2008
Jaycee Carroll is one of the finest shooters I've seen, and I've been watching the NBA as well as the NCAA for more than 40 years. I put him among an elite group that includes some names that almost anybody would put on that list, such as Bird, but also some names that most people wouldn't know, such as Gary the Great Erickson from West High in 1969 and 1970. The Jazz didn't draft Jaycee because they don't need another 6'2" guard with a 40" vertical. But I think they should have picked up Jaycee because not only does he shoot well, but he's a team-first guy who constantly hustles. The only guys I can think of who put out as much energy during an entire game are Rip Hamilton and John Stockton in his 20s and 30s.
St. Georg Aggie | 2:51 p.m. July 13, 2008
Classic!

I love how BYU fans are the first to make a crack. Article isn't even about BYU or anyone affiliated with BYU and yet the arrogance that is "the BYU fan" finds a way to talk about himself.

BYU fan is the first to take a stab (see Broncster | 7:30 a.m. July 12, 2008) and the first to cry that they are being picked on (see Re:Ag | 9:27 a.m. July 13, 2008).

Of course BYU fans (Typical Ags | 12:05 p.m. July 13, 2008) can't say anything nice about the guy. They have no idea what class is and Jaycee is a classy guy.

BYU fans get over yourselves!

I can't believe I fed the ego that is "BYU FAN" by even commenting about it. Shame on me.
Fan | 4:07 p.m. July 13, 2008
As a Utah basketball fan (the state, not the school), I say Go Jaycee! He has been fun to watch these last few years, and I think he can really produce in the NBA. No one questions his offense. I guess his liability is defense, as he would be asked to guard much larger players as a shooting guard. As defense is the Jazz's primary concern, trading for him doesn't make much sense, and neither does signing him. But there are other teams out there who he could contribute for (Pistons? Miami? Nets??)

Good Luck 'Cee

sLOAN WOULD DESTROY jc AS A PLAYER.
Vegas | 5:50 p.m. July 13, 2008
Jaycee is now playing for the Toronto Raptors in the Vegas Summer League. He found out he had a spot on Toronto's roster just before midnight Friday night and caught the first flight to Vegas to arrive just before game time on Saturday. He had a stellar performance going 6-9 and scoring 14 points in 14 minutes of play.

Jaycee's work ethic and heart should earn him a spot on an NBA roster. It's a good sign that more than 1 team wanted him on their summer league teams and this will bring him even more exposure.

BYU Fans: Why do you have to be so arrogant? Even the one half-classy BYU fan to post on here suggested that Utah State fans say "Thank You" to BYU for them letting us have Carroll. Give me a break. Jaycee didn't even WANT to go to BYU had they offered. He's said that many times. Get over yourselves. Didn't you have a lesson on the "Pride Cycle" in church today?
Love the Hussle | 6:50 p.m. July 13, 2008
JC reminds me of "Rudy". He deserves a chance. If someone is willing to take a chance on a short, slow white guy that can shoot, they'll get someone that pours everything into the game. He's not talented enough (yet) to play in the NBA. He will get some good looks from Europe and Developmental Leagues.
Re: Ag | 8:43 p.m. July 13, 2008
Wow I wanted to read about a great USU basketball player and instead get pathetic comments from Aggies about BYU football. How sad.
Justin | 8:52 p.m. July 13, 2008
Oh great, the guy who thinks Jaycee is slow is back.
Slow? | 9:04 p.m. July 13, 2008
Where do you get off on calling JC slow. He had the fastest sprints in some of the NBA workouts he attended with other guards. The guy has a 40" vertical, runs a 4:30 mile, and is fourth all-time in NCAA 3-pt.% history. He came from a small town in Wyoming and only one D-1 school offered him a scholy. He's only 6'2" and he went on to become USU's all time career scoring leader, ahead of former USU players that played in the NBA/ABA. He served an honorable LDS mission, has spoken at several LDS firesides & church meetings, got married in the temple etc. Despite all that, some BYU fans have the arrogance to criticize him, even though he is a great example of everything they are supposed to stand for? Can you say hypocrites? I'm not suprised that some are anti-mormon when BYU arrogance takes the stage.
Re: Rich | 9:44 p.m. July 13, 2008
Did you just compare JC Carroll to Larry Bird and John Stockton? Now that is funny!! Are you writing your own stand up material these days or what? I know you are probablly his Grandpa so I can let it go but honestly thank you for the best laugh I have had in a long time! Go Utes. As for the rest of you Aggie fans, you are living right up to the stereotype of little bro finally getting some pub. Stop giving in to what these Cougar fans have to say and just know they are trying to get your goat.........Larry Bird and John Stockton in his prime! CLASSIC!!!
Aggies Fans | 10:50 p.m. July 13, 2008
Enjoy your kid in the NBA summer league... It is as close as he will get to a real NBA team.

Up next, Europe; the place where shooters can be appreciated.

He'll actually thrive there.
Hollywood | 11:20 p.m. July 13, 2008
Not all BYU fans are arrogant.

I can cheer for any Utah player whether they played at BYU, USU or even the UofU. So I say go JC and go Ronnie Price.

And, there are also BYU players I dislike(d) such as Plaisted (what an idiot to think he's anywhere near NBA-ready) and Shawn "Backstabber" Bradley.
