I live in Provo, and I've never lived in Ogden, but I want to congratulate everyone there who is working hard to make their city a nice place to live.

All cities have problems, but all cities have good qualities too.

I was glad to see Portsmouth, NH there but the sad thing about Portsmouth is that you have to work 2 or more jobs to afford to live there. Most who do live there travel to Boston to work. It's a nice little city that is getting too big and expensive to live - 1 bedroom unit is over $900 a month.

I have been to Ogden twice since moving here - each time I go I reminds me of the downtown area of Portland, Maine. I was there to attend the temple and didn't interact with anyone outside of it except the bus driver.

I am now considering moving to Centerville. I was in that area a couple weeks ago and fell in love with the scenery - it reminds me of North Conway, NH. We shall see what happens.

I have traveled through and around Boston - and you just can not get me to live there. I loved Tacoma, WA when I lived there for a short period of time 29 years ago. I want to go there for another visit.

I love traveling.

It is interesting that you say that all communities along the Wasatch Front offer what Ogden does? I cannot think of one other community that has two rivers running through it? And living in Cottonwood or Highland what access do you have to all the outdoor activities. Sure the Cottonwoods are there but go ahead and get in that traffic mess to enjoy nature. There is zero traffic in Ogden when it comes to getting into nature.

And to claim that the education system is better down in Salt Lake Valley is a farce considering the entire state education system is in disrepair. I am not a native to Utah but have lived in the Salt Lake Valley and in Ogden. Ogden is more diverse and accepting than any community in Utah and for that reason I left Salt Lake for Ogden. If you see that as a bad thing then remain in your ignorant life in SLC and leave the beauty of Ogden for the rest of us.

It is people like you that spend all day putting down people and ripping people that makes me embarrased to live in Utah. No wonder Utah is 100% republican/LDS all you care about is yourselves and $$$$$$$.

So some people that live in Ogden may not have been born with a silver spoon in their mouth. Some people aren't brought up in Bountiful or Orem. But thank goodness for that. I would rather live in Ogden among real people that may have hard times or not live in a mansion.

You same LDS women ripping on OGden. Go watch one of your 12 kids. Maybe they are getting tatted up right now. Don't you have better things to do than spread hate.

Davis Utah and Salt Lake counties screw you. You are all self righteous arrogant hateful people. Stay out of Ogden. Hang with your own kind. Just because you married someone in your singles ward at 18 and are stuck in a miserable marriage doesn't mean you have to spread hate around.

What has Ogden done to you. Get a divorce or go have an affair but stay out of Ogden it doesn't need you.

This article didn't explain much about why Ogden is such a great place to live, but at least I know more about New Englander. Thanks. Seriously though, Ogden has some big problems, but what city doesn't? If you like the outdoors you could do a lot worse.

Ogden will always be for some people a unsafe dirty city and for others a nice place to live.It's more about how you adjust to the social problems than how you dodge them.I once dodged a nice area of New Orleans in favor of a area of question in which to live.I'm glad I did.It helped me to accept all people regardless of what they looked like.If I was looking for a new home and saw something in Ogden I liked, I would take it with or without drug dealers or prostitutes on the street.

I have lived in Oregon, Nebraska, Wyoming, Salt Lake, Orem, Bountiful, and a few other places, and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else. Ogden is awesome! Great recreation, a great university, great things are happening here. Yes, there are places I wouldn't walk after dark, but what major city would you not say that about? And the people here are working hard to make it an even better place to live. Kudos to Mayor Godfrey!

Sadly, I feel like need to apologize for SLC/Davis/Utah County, seems to me there is one person here spreading hate. Guess who that is?

I am LDS, and I did feel some of the smugness in Utah County and Bountiful, but I also met some wonderful people. One thing I do love about Ogden is there is room for everyone!

I love living and working in Ogden. It's just minutes away from World Class Ski Resorts, great fishing, beautiful hiking trails, it's just an incredible city. It has fabulous restaurants, great concerts, there's always something going on here. The beautiful Ogden river runs right through the city. If you haven't visited Ogden - you definitely should!
