frosh of year | 3:39 p.m. July 7, 2008
How could Matt Reynolds be the freshman of the year when all the starting sports on the oline are taken? DiLuigi can't get it if he is backing up Unga. That leaves Sorensen, the obvious choice for freshman of the year.

I think Utah football fans are lucky enough to watch two of the best, but basically nationally unknown QB's in the nation, in Max Hall and Brian Johnson. Both will have big years and I expect the Cougs and the Utes to have good seasons...

David Kruger as freshman of the year??? Give me a break. He wasn't even the best player on his team last year. He is so lazy I be surprised if he even makes it onto the field for the Utes. He doesn't know how to play assigment football and all he cares about it his own stats. GOOD LUCK WITH THAT ONE UTAH
Payne Sorenson Talk | 9:58 a.m. July 9, 2008
Okay, I'll admit that Payne played injured last year, but to say he played "decent" is an exaggeration. The guy wasn't even mediocre (I cringed every time he kicked the ball--including extra points and kickoffs). Now I'm not saying that the injury wasn't too blame, but if he isn't 100 times better this year, than Sorenson better be the one booting those 60 yarders baby!!!! This is the most excited I've ever been about a kicking recruit. It may turn out to be nothing, but I sure hope he is as good as everyone says he is.

alright utah fans are always asinine and we know that they dont know anything. Siliga is not going to be an impact player i played against him in HS and he was ejected out of the game before the end of the first quarter cause he can't keep his cool and cause he got jacked up by my teamate. Utah may make steady progress but so what BYU is going undefeated in conference play 2 years in a row and going for a three peat! The consistency that Mendenhall brings to BYU will always give them that fourth and 18 edge...or that John Beck to Harline in the endzone. Utah does have talent and a good coaching staff but they dont have the consistensy or the tenacity to carry through with it. So they will not have a freshman of they year! Justin Sorenson is the obvious choice he will make the difference in those close cougar games and that will be you fresman of the year!

if you guys say sornsen is the best kicker in the country how come rivals only rated him 3
Sorenson | 1:00 p.m. July 16, 2008
It's really going to be interesting to see how all the hype plays out. I've seen several games that Justin has played in and he definitely is strongest leg at BYU, The MWC (sorry Sakoda), and possibly the entire nation. If you go to ksl.com and search Justin Sorenson, you'll find a video of him knocking down a 71 yarder for the camera crew. All in all, the kid is inexperienced and did show some wobbles in the 5-A playoffs in high school, but I've always liked to think that when you reach a certain level in any sport, the focus in training is slowly going to shift from improving skill to improving consistancy. I think that Justin has all the skill he needs to be a star in the college ranks, and a summer with BYU's kicking coach could be just what the doctor ordered for him to improve on his consistancy. With all due respect to Payne, Justin is my pick in 2008.

Jaymar Latchison at NM is the real deal. He will blow everyone away. Mark my word- NFL in 4 years!
