How do they know this gesture was politically motivated? Isn't it possible it was because her husband had cancer and they were showing some compassion?

State Senator Influence | 10:17 a.m. July 5, 2008
Wonder as well how much conjoling did it take our State Senator Mark Madsen, who is John Walden's right-hand man, of our gullible Utah County DA to keep Walden from being charged with attempted bribery... oh that's right, Mr. Madsen is Walden's "man on the ground"...is anyone else getting the jest of this being ANOTHER empty witch hunt as well?

So if we simplify the legalese, she was charged for accepting a bribe from a developer, but the developer was not charged for bribing a government official. That makes sense! I wonder if the DA should be charged for pandering? The question is: Was the money a bribe or not?

It is interesting the Walden was not charged! If bribery was the issue, why wasn't he charge? Good old boy interpretation of the law!

Corruption in high places, let this be a lesson for any who serve in the public's interest. The test is, would she still have gotten the gift if she was working at McDonalds?

I have to laugh at the conspiracy theorists above here. Get a life.

Let's not forget that this dear lady was dealing with a husband with cancer. Sometimes people under stress make disappointing decisions.

This wonderful woman, who served the city for many, many years, lost her husband that year, who also served the city for many years.

I think anyone can see there was no malicious intent here, just someone trying to deal with difficult circumstances. Her husband was dying in front of her eyes, she was powerless to stop it, who among us would handle that with ease?

We all owe the entire Strouse family some gratitude for their service. God bless them for caring enough to get involved with this ungrateful city.

No. Utah sees a major earthquake every 350 years. Last one? 350 years ago.
