I can't imagine what *would* hurt the Utah Republican party. Outside of direct repudiation by the LDS Church (which "doesn't get involved in politics unless it's another state's issues), Utah Republicans know that they are guaranteed 70% of the vote, regardless of issues OR criminality.
And even then, a lot of Republicans would probably disagree and say that the President should keep his nose out of politics.
I'd still love to know why.
"Hey, if you drop out, I'll let you be my VP candidate." Don't all politicians try that?
If you're losing, accuse your opponent of something.
By the time the dust settles, no one will know if your accusation was true. I guess that is what Ed Alter did in 1988. It happens all the time. It doesn't make it right; it just makes it politics.
Why don't you just run for a position and fix it all in your infinite wisdom and knowledge.
