Counties in Utah can enlist help to boost voter confidence

It used to be that low turnout was because vitng was inconvenient. Now we find out the real reason is unfamiliar, untrained poll workers! Early voting was supposed to increase turnout, as were changes to absentee ballot requirements, as were etc. etc. etc.

The real reason for low voter turnout is apathy. No number of recruiting programs or other outreach efforts will change that.

Since when did BYU get so knowledgeable. The peope working the polls I vote at have always been the average joe blow - rung of the mill. get rid of the electronic machines for one, no one trusts them and then get rid of the apathy people have about their voting and corruption

It seems "jr" never saw the survey from BYU that said people in Utah have a 90%+ confidence in the voting machines. So go and get your facts straight before you make assertions that no one trusts the machines. We do not live in Ohio or Florida!

While everyone laments low turnout it is the public's right to not vote, especially if candidates are poor and the races are boring. It is not like the press has not covered the crap out of the primary... daily updates on the Walker/Ellis scandal and the daily updates on how poorly Canon was doing in the polls. In fact the constant stream of stories about the candidates might have in and of themselves led to lower turnout.
