Texas county seeks protection from bills over FLDS raid
18 comments | Read story
I say BANKRUPT the county. The Bigots earned for themselves.
When they elected an idiot like David Doran, they became responsible for what he brought down on them.
The best resolution for this mess is, remove the parasitic CPS from the county and pay the county's bills.
Lets do the math...450,000 made in property taxes this year.......400,000 last year.....how much the two years before that.
69,000 spent spent so far.
Looks like the county has a net gain so why start the poor mouthing now. Why not wait for a few hundred thousand more in sxpenses get charged.
Perhaps Sheriff Doran will have to give back the nice patrol car and the county employees may need to work with no air conditioning for a while so they feel the pain of their self declared ignorance.
ha ha ha.Tex..hahaha...Tex....hahahaha...Texas.
Doran was more involved than they're letting on. He didn't write the original warrant, but he is described in it as a key source of information. He also fielded the call from the in-Arizona-on-probation Barlow at the gate. The search continued, of course, because he couldn't validate it truly was Barlow on the phone--compare that with the solidly validated March 29th call.
Whoever stated that the state will pick up the bills needs to be shipped the bills.
Things this big should be handled at the state or federal level. It is a costly problem that needs to be addressed. The outside world which controls law enforcement needs to understand how much criminal behavior exists and how much can and needs to be prosecuted. Now law enforcement in Arizona, Utah, Idaho, Nevada, Colorado, South Dakota and Canada know what they are facing. There is plenty of non-biased hard evidence that will create an accurate picture as long as our culture can interpret theirs. The case will not be based on ex-FLDS or FLDS biased information. Hopefully things will change so that 14 year-olds are not focused on marriage to older men, but on enjoying their teen years.
Read the warrants and affidavits.
Texas Ranger Brook Long took the lead on both search warrants.
Let's talk about the real yarn spinners....YFZ FLDS!
What YFZ yarns are you refering to? Hyperbole with no substance.
Contrary to your accusation, a previous poster correctly noted that Doran didn't take the lead(10:22). And then, why not? It's his county. Hiding behind Ranger Long does not absolve him of his considerable guilt for the things he did do, and the many things he failed to do.
All based on a hoax call.. wow! It's just too much...
Read the description of the initial "visit" of Voss to the ranch.
Armed with the first warrant signed by long Voss and three others went into the ranch at ten pm.
They began the "interviews" after the normal bedtime of the children. Imagine the confusion as 139 mothers wakeing 400 chilren for an interview.
The FLDS even put out coffee pots and Voss stated that she was up for 28 hours to conduct the "interviews.
The second warrant signed by long was based on observations made by those CPS persons that gained access with the first warrant.
Another interview with Voss mentioned 12 persons entering the ranch.....and the men waiting in cars at the gate.
Four tired CPS women with little sleep saw pregnant teens that turned out to be grown women.
The "confusion" surrounding the interview seems normal.
All the coffee in the world only keeps a sleepy and tired person awake......perhaps thats why a 37 year old becomes 17.
Four persons trying to organize a search for two imaginary Sarahs amongst 400 children isn't easy under the best of conditions.
SO, who are the real crooks here, CPS or FLDS? In retrospect, it turned out to be CPS. Now, it's time to pay the Piper. Remember, if you don't pay the Piper, he comes and takes all of your children away. Now, THAT is poetic.
Hey Gramps....I'm not trying to make excuses for CPS, just trying to put things in perspective using the Voss desciption of the events.
I believe the confusion was the responsibility of CPS. Voss was responsible for the timing and decisions made during the event.
Nighttime raids and arrests are a norm for law enforcement, they cause the most confusion for the subjects of the arrest. Disorientation is the aim of law enforcement and they take advantage of the confusion.
In this case the confusion was caused by CPS but it backfired.......much like everything else.
Gramps......perhaps Voss was replaced or removed from her public spokesman duties after the "renounce their religion comment". CPS really started to lose credibility after she made that comment.
The Talmud recommends that a boy marry at 18 or between 16 and 24 years of age.
However to marry a boy must be at least 13 years of age and a girl 12. Despite these age requirements the kiddushin may take place before then.
Now since I am tired someone tell me what kiddushin means

It would be extremely interesting to see just how much of the $69,000 was paid out to those exflds members for their part in the raid. Can the Desert news get a breakdown of the ex-members and their expenses from the county thru the freedom of information act?
Dates of involvement of the ex-flds would be very interesting to see.
When did those helpful souls charge their first steak to the Taxpayers of Texas.
Lets see if Elisa was spending her UEP windfall to help the women and children as she said she would.......same for Flora and her foundation.
Lets follow the money..........
