I call BS.....that is, I call BS on your understanding of meteorology.
Time to step into the 21st century - even your political hero GWB acknowledges that global warming is real. I figured he'd be the last person on earth to do so, but apparently I was wrong.
You like to paint with broad brushes, don't ya?
Last summer had record heat and according to the Global Warming lobby was a harbinger of things to come.
This summer until recently was much cooler than normal, but according to the GW lobby it is just due to normal variation in weather patterns.
Pot. Kettle. Black.
Ummm, yes it is. The 10 hottest years on record worldwide have all occured since 1995. The debate on whether the earth is getting warmer is no longer a debate. The issue of WHY is the only thing not certain.
"Last summer had record heat and according to the Global Warming lobby was a harbinger of things to come."
Can you provide some evidence/sources to support that statement? My guess is no because they don't exist. Here's my evidence to prove you're wrong: We're in the middle of a record heat wave right now and I've yet to hear one person say it's because of global warming. But on the first day it snows in the fall you know we're going to hear all these "I could sure use some global warming" quips......
No, wait... I'm on the wrong bandwagon.
THE GLOBE IS WARMING, THE GLOBE IS WARMING!!!
To steal a line from Jerry Maguire.
"SHOW ME THE DATA!"
But even that same record shows global temps peaked in 1998 and there has been a slight cooling trend since then.
Indeed, looking at the data over the past 30 years it would seem the recent "heat wave" appears to have peaked and is beginning to wane.
As always, the Devil is in the details.
Compared to the global average temp over the past 1,000 years, the recent warming becomes less significant.
Compared to the average of the past 10,000 years, it's well within the normal range.
It's roughly akin to measuring the average April in Utah and using it to conclude the state enjoys a mild, moist climate year round.
In any event this, kind of snow pack at high elevations isn't unusual. In 1998 there was 8 feet of snow at Steiner on opening day, 2005, there was 4 feet. This snow pack is a little above average, and doesn't say anything about global warming either way.

Come on, Deseret News. You should know that this is clearly false: After all, just three years ago Mayor Rocky Anderson predicted the doom of the Utah ski industry due to a lack of snow.
