6% of Utah bridges 'deficient'

Are we paying attention? UDOT is, but are the people asking the Legislature to make bridge funding a higher priority?

Be grateful only 6% are deficient. In Quebec, where the winters are more severe, about 50% of the bridges are deficient. Here, the concrete bridges are riddled with cracks, even including major chuncks that fall off. One bridge in 2006 had a major span that just fell off and killed about 4 people on the freeway underneath. So it definitely could be worse in Utah.
