I won't be flying United, or any other airline that gouges like this..Of course that may mean I won't be flying at all. I'll tell you one thing, I'll do everything in my power to avoid flying, and the only thing I can think of that might make it necessary is a funeral.

I don't get it. If I'm flying both ways on their plane, why does it matter if I fly Mon./Tue. or Mon/Thur? Seems braindead to me. I've always been willing to pay extra for convenience. This will just stop me from flying United.

With the way the airlines are finding ways to sock it to the public in everyway they can, I for one and many of the people I know, will find other means for travel. That will probably also mean traveling closer to home and letting the big corporations pay the high tariffs to the airlines.

Someone will inevitably be inspired by these fees to start up a social-disobedience store in airports across the nation. $15 for the first bag? Fine - what's the weight limit, again? 40 lbs? I'll be back in 5 minutes, I just need to go rent 25 lbs of weights from that nice man over there. Oh, and by the way - I heard that your lawyers just told you that trying to make overweight people buy 2 seats is discriminatory. Let me just go over to that souvenir shop and rent 4 super-large pillows and a 9-XL shirt. And you say I'll need to stay over 3 nights? OK, let me just call my travel agent - he assured me that he can arrange for a cot right in front of the ticket counter at LAX. Too bad there's no shower, though. And by the way - I sleep in the nude. But hey, it's California, I'm sure nobody will mind!

This is just another reason not to fly United, if at all possible. They have an unique strategy: higher prices and poor service that makes the flying public feel like they are there for United's benefit.

Excuses, Excuses | 12:10 p.m. June 27, 2008
I agree with 6/23 Anonymous. Am I really costing the airlines more fuel by not spending one or more nights in a hotel? Excuses, excuses! This is just another way for them to jack up the prices and Southwest Airlines campaign "We don't nickel and dime you" may convince everyone to let American, United and USAir end up like Pan American and TWA --- extinct! I am premier with United but the way they are going, there may be no more United. Take care of your customers and they will remain loyal to you. And that doesn't mean finding sneaky ways to raise prices for business travellers.

What is next? | 12:36 p.m. June 27, 2008
As usual, the airlines are making the consumers compensate for their poor management of money. I am a business traveler who will NOT be flying any airline who imposes such ridiculous rules for their fares. Is it not enough that they are charging for beverages, snacks, and luggage now? What is next? If the smaller airlines are smart - they will hang in there and make their focus customer service - people will be willing to pay for service! What I am not willing to do is support an airline who does not put the customer first. The major airlines, like United, are shooting themselves in the foot by ignoring customer service. I'm going to sit back and watch them destroy themselves and then of course - blame it on everything and everyone else but themselves.
