How do you think they Generate the Heat? It takes electricity, How do they get the amount of Electricity needed? COAL PLANTS! The simple answer would be to build a Nuclear Plant out in the area!
Watch what happens when you mention Nuclear, all of a sudden there are multiple protest, spin and lies.
Sadly France has beat us on this one, 80% of their energy comes from Nuc's.
What can we do now, though? Approach energy in a bipartisan manner and use a systems methodology to evaluate the LATEST and MOST ADVANCED concepts for obtaining oil from oil shale. There is a lot of dis-information out there that ignores many of the recent exciting efforts that demonstrat cost effective production without using water or toxic byproducts.
We then need to rationally review the real consequences for our environment and discard the many archaic requirements that make it very very difficult to apply common sense. We need visibility of the pros and cons for all Americans so that the majority and not just a highly vocal minority can help make the decision on just how important it is to move forward on oil shale. This is a vital step that needs to be taken now to maintain America's strength and opportunity.
