can talk all you want about your seasons and make these crazy predictions and so forth. Here's the thing your not a top 10 team. Those teams reload every year, you guys start whining because a few players grad, or whatever.

You need to re-enroll in that R99 English class at your local JC.

We all saw how previous top 10 Nebraska, Notre Dame, and Florida State, among others, simply reloaded last year.

What do Texas, Texas A&M, Miami, UCLA, Washington, Washington St., Arizona, Arizona St., Oregon, Oklahoma, Colorado, Penn St., Michigan, Kansas St., Missouri, and Notre Dame all have in common?

No, the National Championship is, something the Cougars already accomplished. Also, only eight years separated BYU's #5 ranking from Utah's #5 ranking. And BYU actually had to beat a good team in their bowl game to get that.

Frankly, neither team should be speaking too loudly about a BCS berth when both teams have to win several tough games before that is even a consideration. I don't believe either team will be undefeated in November.

Did I mention that the UNLV coaches were laughing after the yewt game last year at the lack of courage and guts the yewts desplayed in their fear of tackling summers. No wonder Unga blasted into the line for the winning touchdown and blew up the yewt defenders at the time he was crossing the line. Oh and did I mention the UNLV won by a shutOUT?

are you telling me you tally your total EVER victories over ranked teams and get a couple??

here in the SEC we have to have 4-5 victories over ranked teams EVERY SEASON to even be in the running for a Conference title.

This is ridiculous. The utes ahead of the cougars? This makes absolutely no sense, considering the cougars are returning 10 of their 11 offensive starters.
here is my preseason rankings, means nothing but its personal satisfaction :)
BYU- 14

Utah-25

Utah has a good team, but by no means is it good enough to be ranked ahead of the cougars, especially considering all the factors. I think I will stick to the reliable sources on this one, not some yahoo who thinks he knows what he is talking about.

Yes BYU is returning most of last years EXPLOSIVE OFFENSE?

EXPLOSIVE? Total offense ranked 28th in Div 1
EXPLOSIVE? Total points ranked 68th in Div 1

The REAL part of last years team was the EXPLOSIVE DEFENSE

Total Defense Ranked 7th in Div 1
Points allowed Ranked 14th in Div 1

Now, if this years offense can improve to match the rankings of last years defense, the Cougars just might have something to brag about next January.

Does all this talk even matter? BYU can never beat any of there good non-conference opponents so they'll already be knocked out of BCS consideration before Septembers is over.
Then after this all the coug fan's will return home and think about the glory days when they competed with Army and Navy to win the national championship in the coaches poll and was left looking up in the AP poll. Way back before any of their players were born.
Then Bronco Mendahall will return to the locker room and give some sort of conference talk to his players about how BYU had tradition when his father was alive and how if you live right you'll never have any problems.

Here we go, more unlv talk. It was probably a good thing with what happened last year at unlv, they put up 8 wins in 9 games after that. Now they know not to look by teams like that anymore, which means utah might put up 50 this year against them. One thing I know about kyle and the utes is dont guarantee wins or talk trash after the game because what goes around comes around. There will be no mercy against unlv this year, plus its the first home game, Sanford and his rebels will be down by at least 35 at half time.

I think it is funny how BYU fans are making fun of Utah for the UNLV game.
How about BYU's effort in both games against UCLA!?!
Scoring 17 points in each game. The Utes scored 44 in one game against the Bruins, and didn't need a lucky break (a blocked FG), to beat the 5th best team in the Pac 10 in a bowl game.
How about BYU win some non-conference games this year!!

I don't remember the last time BYU lost less than 2 non-conference games in a year!!!!!

They have the Heisman trophy winner and one of the best coaches in the Nation.

Just because BYU fans hate Meyer so much they can't see him winning a title. I went to a BYU game a few years ago when the Crowd cheered when Florida lost. You guys are jealous, and upset that he beat your cougars down!! I hate to break it to you, but he won the National Title 2 years ago, and several think they'll win it this year.

He is a better coach than Bronco!!! (Who do you honestly think would win in a national poll?). If you took a nationwide poll of football fans Meyer would win 90% to 10%.

Meyer has also done more than Level Edwards.
Edwards 1 National Title 0 BCS wins 7-13-1 in Bowl games (29 years)
Meyer 1 National Title 2 BCS wins 4-1 in bowl games (7 years)

Sorry BYU fans, the guys you worship (Bronco and Edwards) are not as good as Meyer.

Who is Phil Steele and who cares what he has to say?? All I know is that on all of the pre-season polls that count (like the USA today poll, the coaches poll, the BCS standings) BYU is ranked 14th and Utah is no where to be seen.
So Utah fans, enjoy your moment in the spotlight. It isn't going to last for very long. I can't wait until football season starts!!! GO COUGS!!

I like this. I hope BYU and Utah meet when both teams are undefeated. Hope Utah is ranked above BYU, and that both are in the top 10. I hope TCU is ranked, also, when the Cougars and Horn Frogs meet.

I am a big time Ute fan and the only team that worries me this year is Wyoming. Michigan will be interesting but the Utes will come out on top. UNLY will get beat down no problem. USU will lose. Air Force will lose. Weber State will lose. Oregon State will get beat down. Wyoming, I hope the coaches will be ready this year. Colorado State will lose. New Mexico will be another interesting game but the Utes will come out on top. TCU will lose. San Diego State will lose. After two years of stupid mistake the Utes will come out on top. It is that easyï¿½..

I am a cougar fan who agrees with your observations.

All those teams will lose.
I just have not seen a consistant Utah team that will beat "All" those teams.

Utah will come into the BYU with a home game that will make them "Bowl Eligible", and another "Must Win BYU Bowl" for Kyle.

He's big enough to take responsibility now, and Dr. Hill really cannot be totally happywith Kyle effort so far.

I guess readership at the D. news and papers all over the state among the utes (cougar haters) will be up again now that the utes are ranked in a national pre-season poll. Even though two weeks ago pre-season polls meant nothing. Especially from a weak service that dared mention the cougars. Oh well, enjoy the paper until another weak publication recognizes the cougars and the "possibility" of a great season. The season has not even started yet and the cougars are already in your heads. They must be winning again.

Steele is off on this one.
No other national ranking polster has the Ute's on the radar.
It would be fun to see both BYU and Utah ranked in the top 20 above the majority of BCS big wigs come AP rankings and six or so weeks into the season when the BCS rankings come out.
Having BYU and Utah ranked in the top 10 come seasons end would be awesome.

if fhil steele is really that big why is he making rediculous rankings like this, he put notre dame on it! honestly, they are the most hopeless bsc team ever this year! and although he put utah on there for some reason, neither byu or utah has a difficult schedule this year, it sucks, but it's true. either team will be lucky if they get a respectable bsc bowl game

It's BCS not BSC. Should make no difference to you anyway since your cougs won't be receiving an invitation.
