I enjoy reading these beautiful stories of humanitarian service. Although I am not LDS (I'm one of 10,000 members of The Church of Jesus Christ based in Monongahela, Pennsylvania), and we are "poles apart" on many fundamental church doctrines, these articles of compassionate service to our fellow citizens in need are an area of total agreement. Keep up the good works and reports.

So does this mean that the writings of the Apostles in Christ time were going against his teachings? If he told us to not let it be known of the services that His followers are doing, then we should not have the scriptures that tell about all the things that Christ did, from healing the sick to raising the dead, and from Atoning for all of our sins to the resurrection, so that we can all be resurrected. So do the people that are angry about sharing the good deeds want the Bibles all to be burned?
I live away from the two major rivers here in Missouri, my home will not be affected by the waters that will crest this weekend, but I have been in the towns that are being flooded and destroyed. My heart goes out to these people, we have had water in our basement, due to lots of rain and just that little is a pain. I for one think it is wonderful for our church and all other churches to reach out and help someone, and if any of you Mormon haters ever face a disaster, I sure hope you let the Mormons help.

Many acts of service are done quietly and anonymously. I for one feel good and uplifted when I read about what people do, and it makes me want to go and do good.

To the guy who is so judgemental but does not share his name,
Jesus also said that we should let our light shine and not hide it under a bushel. He also said that we should do good works so men would glorify his father in heaven. If people do not know that we are doing good works in service of Jesus, than how will men know who to glorify?

People did know they did good works, those they helped in the flood zone.

John Lambert, I like what you said, I believe that quietly many of us will do acts that are not known. I myself hate to get attention for callings or services that I do, I proudly decorate my home, and I am the only one that really enjoys it, that's OK. I believe that there are some who want to be known, and many of them do great services, and that is fine, I myself appreciate the true widows mite in my ward. There is a fairly new convert, she was widowed at age 21, not very educated, she is a black woman, she lives on a very restricted income, so what does she do? She visits three home bound elderly ladies, my mother in law is one, she is always doing missionary work, she is now serving in the temple. This lady will never be in the newspaper, and she will never donate millions, but she will be among the elect. There are thousands out there like her and they are my hero's. But also my hero's are the members going to help with the floods and my hero's are the very wealthy that donate more than we know.
