UHSAA makes final decision on realignment

Bingham is guaranteed to win that league every single year. There is no balance. When the new school opens in Herriman, Riverton will get hit. That means you have Bingham walking through the league in every sport.

Shift to the other league that is hit with Lone Peak, Alta, Brighton, Jordan... it makes no sense.

Then you have the Central league that has absolutely ZERO good teams, and the North league that has Davis walking through the daisies winning region championships in their sleep.

Why did the UHSAA all of a sudden change from the last proposal?

Wow.

The North is too big. If they play each other once there is hardly room for playing other regions. O well.

Wow, is that a stacked region or what. Lone Peak, Alta, Jordan, Brighton, PG-- that is like the SEC of high school basketball.. Go 'diggers.

What about the other classifications? Are they still working on screwing them up?

This is high school sports, people act as if it was the NFL alignment ... let them "Play" where they want.

Thanks for keeping Skyline in 5A, it would be sad to see them drop to 4A from an alumni perspective. The best football team in the history of the state should stay in the highest classification.

Better put Woods Cross in 2A so they can compete.

Being a former coach, one tough thing the north 5A region will face with soccer is no preseason games. A 16 game limit and a nine-team region, each school will play the other home-and-home, which will be 16 games. That means the first game of the season, about five days after selecting a team, will count towards qualifying for state. For some, it could be okay, but if two of the top teams meet in that first game, the region title may be on the line early. The other regions in 5A will get a couple preseason games to get the bugs out.

Interesting realignment with Uintah. This past year, the St. George schools complained about having only three 4A teams playing with three 3A teams in Region 9. What is Uintah going to do to qualify for state. Do they automatically qualify? How will individual sports, such as wrestling, swimming, track and crosscountry, get their individuals to qualify for state? With wrestling, putting Uintah into a 4A region tournament without competing with that region for seeding purposes could be a nightmare for all parties involved. If anyone knows, please advise here. Good luck to everyone.

Now wait a second, wow... in 1986 WX went 1 and 8 in football and still went to the State Playoffs, so give a little respect. There's still hope, even for the 'last of the little guys'!

Region 8 will be the weakest football region in 3A, 4A, and 5A hands down. By the way, why put Timpview and Provo in different regions, that makes no sense.

Do you think that Bingham football is happy with the new Region 3? How many years before they lose a region game?

Bingham: 11-2,
Copper Hills: 4-7,
Kearns: 5-6,
Riverton: 6-5,
Taylorsville: 3-7,
West Jordan: 5-5,
New School: likely no more than 2-3 wins for the first few years.

This has all the makings of the most lopsided region in the state for football. Too bad Jordan or Alta isn't in the region. They are both in a very strong Region 4 (w/ American Fork and Lone Peak).

Good to see all 3 high schools in Orem (Mountain View, Orem, and Timpanogos) finally back in the same region!!

Too bad all regions can't be as balanced as Region 12.

The only sport Davis really has been all that in recently has been basketball. They're not the dominant force some people think they are. Unless of course you live in Kaysville.

Why single out Woods Cross? Yes, their football team has struggled. But look at men's and women's soccer. Both have excellent records over the years. The boy's basketball team made two consecutive playoff appearances and softball went to state this year as well. Maybe do a little research before assuming that all Woods Cross teams are horrible. With that train of thought, they better also move Granger and West down to 2A. Granger has had less success that Woods Cross. Thanks for the thought though.

Region 6!? wow looks like Bountiful will dominate for years. East? Highland? Tooele? Stansbury? Woods Cross Jr High? See you guys in the frozen foods section. Braves! Braves! Braves!

Way to break up a whole city and one of the best rivalries around.

That was the lamest move ever!

Davis' annual strength has always been football and track/field. I'm sure each HS have their strengths so I believe it all balanced out just fine. They just need to hone their skills to defeat against their own "Goliaths".

umm.....you must be a Lone Peak fan becasue they havent sniffed a title in a while in football. Last year it was AF (over PG). Year before it was PG. Go Cavemen!

Does Skyline really have over 1500 students? Kind of doubt it.
