byron russell missed some key freebies that had a lot to do with losing the series too.

Just remember My Utah State AGGIES beat the Utes that year in Basketball. So much for Utah supremacy! Stew Morrill is the man in UTAH now!
Don't you just love us AGGIE fans. We are like the Mother-inlaw you love to hate! Oh Wait, that distinction belongs to BYU, lately they are doing a pretty good job of embarrassing the CHURCH!

Kentucky had too much depth. Utes were leading deep into the fourth quarter. They just wore out.

Oh those Jerseys | 11:38 a.m. June 7, 2008
I forgot how ugly those purple jerseys were back then. The old Jazz note versions were better than those.

The 90s were the glory years, watching Michael Jordan spank the Jazz and Ty Detmer spank the Utes!

Pretty COMMA great state | 2:10 p.m. June 7, 2008
Pretty, great state.

Not a sorta great state.

A Pretty State.

A Great State.

A Pretty, Great State.

Oh, and the Utes lost because the round mound didn't rest his starters in the second half like he had all season and they just ran out of gas...

Check the record books. During the 1997-1998 season where UTAH went to the NCAA title game, Utah started off the season with 18 straight wins including a 12/10/97 71 to 55 victory over the Utah State Aggies.

Hey Troutman, the only thing you were right about in your post is being the mother-in-law, remembering things that never happened. The Utes beat your aggies that year and in fact, utah beat your sorry team last year by a good 20+.

Keep enjoying those NIT's, though. And come back when your lowly aggies have more NCAA Tourney wins that Utah has Final Four appearances.

Here's one for you: The Chicago Bulls were
the Milli Vanilli of 1998. They faked the
championship, now remove their Grammy and
all awards....Remember cheating is cheating.
Jordan pushed off, Eisly was robbed of a three,
and Jordan fouled Malone...
The Bulls were not the champions that year, unless
of course you believe in the fairy godmother, oh
that was Rodman.

Get over it Sokol, the best team won.

If the Jazz were the best team they would have won, and a couple of bad calls would not have been able to make a difference.

I have to disagree. The best team was from Salt Lake
City that day.

exactly, If Miller would have had a little more gas at the end, it would have been no problem, majerus even said he played him a little too much before the closing stretch of the second half (not quarters in college) Oh well, live and learn, it was an awesome run, knocking off UNC and AZ with their star power. Look who produced the better guard! Andre Miller is the most underrated pg in the NBA, as proven in the series against CBill.

And they gave the Bulls a 2 that came after the shot-clock expired. Add those 5 points and the Jazz win.

Forget the foul on Jordan. The Jazz were the best team that year.

Interesting, isn't it, that last night, Tom Donaghy said that some games have been fixed in the playoffs over the past few years. He even knew details of the games in question, even if he didn't give names of they players or the teams. Remember that earlier in this year, David Stern said a Lakers vs Celtics NBA finals would be fantastic for the league. And then think about all the other wackiness we've seen over the years, including baskets counting even after the shot clock expired, fouls not being called, violations like travelling and 3 seconds not being called, etc. Sounds to me like the league has had an agenda for a very long time, including the 1998 season.

Also, Provo High School repeated in Mens' Basketball and was nationally ranked after defeating the #2 and #4 ranked teams in the country at a tournament in Hawaii.
