Pure and Simple...Rocky is a Moron and an embarrassment to the human race!!
neverletgo | 12:26 a.m. May 29, 2008
I really thought or hoped Rock would just slink away and grow a beard. Whats the old saying," can't leave but can't leave it alone. By that, Rock, I mean a GOOD type of existance. Ever see the show, "One flew over the Cook nest. See it and learn from it.
Dude | 12:40 a.m. May 29, 2008
Couldn't they just make a movie of the protest and replay it when President Bush comes to town. (Same old story as last time)(Anything new said?)

Rocky reminds me of Norma Desmond, the faded and delusional movie star in "Sunset Boulevard". He believes the news media, and all of us, are props in the on-going movie of his life, "It's all about Rocky."

In scenes that he himself ochestrates, again and again, Rocky/Norma descends the grand staircase and utters the memorable words, "Alright, Mr. DeMille, I'm ready for my close-up."

Oh, Rocky, frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn.

Rather than result to the perpetual name calling I feel a more productive use of your time and energy would be to address his concerns in the article.

I would like to see people discuss the issues he has raised.

It is similiar to Scott McClellon's new book. Instead of calling him disloyal I would like to read some discussion of the issues he has raised.

To me if we are unable to discuss the issues that an individual raises we resort to attacking him or her personally.

I find that to be the case even on KSL.com rather than discuss the issues people resort to personal attacks and name calling.

I would like to read the "talking points" that left the White House yesterday dealing with his new book.

Please no more personal attacks and name calling and more discussion of the issues.

Love you all and I enjoy the trolls.

Rocky who... seriously he is a has been.
Ken | 4:41 a.m. May 29, 2008
It is amazing that the man is attacked and not the substance of what he claims. It is cheap and ultimately deceitful not to address the issues. Character assassination is not debate, it is purile, deceptive and smacks of mob justice by ignorance.
Ken | 5:03 a.m. May 29, 2008
Being insulting and obnoxious because you have a different opinion does not show intellect or integrity. The following is a letter to the Washington Post. This is in regards to a book just published and which is international news. There is in fact a case that needs to be answered. How about a meaningful response?

Scott McClellan is simply verifying what many people who weren't bamboozled by Dubya &CO already knew. When logic was applied to Dubya's statements and his rationale for the Iraq war -- things didn't add up. "I am not waiting for a mushroom cloud over an American city... blah blah blah." Saddam Hussein didn't possess any ICBMs.
For a society with unlimited access to information -- Americans are very ill-informed and unbelievably gullible. They become sheep-like and put aside their critical thinking skills when a likeable and seemingly decent enough person -- like Dubya -- leads them to the proverbial slaughter.
Now with Scott McClellan trying to slap the Dubya partisans out of their sheep-like stupor with what really went on from an insider's point of view -- many are bleating in protest.

I am shocked by the comments of some of the protesters.People saying they wish someone with a gun would "knock off" the President.Of course, this ex-mayor won't be denouncing any of these type of comments. The ex-mayor and his ilk are probably happy and content to actually hear these comments. The more hatred, all the better! We have totally lost all civil discourse in this country.
otherwise | 6:03 a.m. May 29, 2008
has this not passed it's sell by date
John | 6:13 a.m. May 29, 2008
Don't give these clowns the attention they so desperately crave.

Same old bunch of neo-hippies who protest everything and contribute little or nothing to our society.

Rocky needs to move out of Utah and stop giving Utahns a bad name.
You Voted For Him!!! | 6:59 a.m. May 29, 2008
Rocky is truly an embarrassment to Salt Lake City as well as all of Utah! Somehow this nut-case became mayor of Salt Lake City? Someone had to vote him in? Where are his 'supporters'?
Dear John | 7:10 a.m. May 29, 2008
Those who are not protesting the war are not contributing to anything good in our country. Wake up.
KC MARLATT | 7:10 a.m. May 29, 2008
It appears that Rocky and his friends need a day job so they wouldn't have so much free time on their hands.
Mull | 7:21 a.m. May 29, 2008
"Anything Rocky does is cool by us,"

This sounds like blind obedience to me
Samantha | 7:31 a.m. May 29, 2008
Oh, badness! Instead of - "oh, goodness"! And Rocky Anderson - just the fact that his ability to incite caused the Legacy Highway to cost us much more and also delayed it by 4 years is proof of his irresponsibility. I would be careful to allow Rocky Anderson to lead me in a protest!
CITIZEN | 7:34 a.m. May 29, 2008
Hey rocky!!why don't you team up w/former president jimmy carter.I'm sure if both of you combined your brain power you and he could change the whole world and make it a better place to live almost overnite.but you would have to follow jimmy's lead by cutting down the U.S.to the whole world.unless i'm badly mistaken you two became very.very rich by being citizens of this great country!!!!
bodhi | 7:50 a.m. May 29, 2008
You know, it's easy to sit in front of your computers and pass judgement. Had you been there and seen the faces of the folks in the crowd as speaker after speaker talked about war, torture, our loss of civil rights, you would have seen your next door neighbors, your co-workers, your family, your loved ones. You would've seen the faces of people who dearly love this country but are absolutely sickened and horrified by the direction are nation is heading. You would've see the faces of our young people wishing to believe in a better future. You would've seen the faces of the older generation that still hold the sad bitter memories of Vietnam. But mostly you would've seen the faces of a nation sadden, sickened, and afraid of a government that has lied to us and has made us feel ashamed.
The folks who gathered at City Hall yesterday represented our hopes and our dreams. We are Americans, all of us.
We can do better.
Big Deal | 8:02 a.m. May 29, 2008
I COULDN'T AGREE MORE. THE COMMENT ANYTHING ROCKY DOES IS BLIND OBEDIENCE. THE SAME HE ACCUSES BUSH SUPPORTORS OF. COME ON ROSS, GET A LIFE. WHY DON'T YOU JOIN HABITAT FOR HUMANITY. THE SAME WAY JIMMY CARTER DID. AFTER ALL THE EMBARASING THINGS HE DID...
Anonymous | 8:06 a.m. May 29, 2008
We need people like Anderson.
Otherwise we'll be doing the goosestep in due time.
Sandy in Kamas | 8:29 a.m. May 29, 2008
As Americans it is our duty to stand up when there are abuses of power. This country is just made up of sheep who are all pacified by American idol and sporting events, and while they were sleeping crimes are being commited by the very people we put in there to work for us. We cannot stand by while all of this is occurring, our voices must be heard. Thinking our govt will do the right thing and take care of our country is wrong. Being aware is everything. The propaganda is everywhere, THINK FOR YOURSELF. Go Rocky!!!!
Pittakos to Bodhi | 8:30 a.m. May 29, 2008
Bodhi says that I would see my neighbors had I been there. Sorry, but after looking at the pictures that were posted by the DesNews, I saw mostly 60s hippy wannabes and people who dress like they got their clothes from the Deseret Industries rejects bin. The fact of the matter is that Rocky is a typical self-righteous angry Democrat who has been upset ever since the Supreme Court correctly decided that George Bush was the winner of the Presidential election and the crowd that follows him are mostly star-struck deluded followers.
fklund1 | 8:35 a.m. May 29, 2008
The good news is: Rocky is doing this on his own time now. At least his salary isn't being paid by SLC taxpayers.
bad records | 8:59 a.m. May 29, 2008
Rocky is an embarrasment that we voted for, Bush is an embarrasment that we voted for. Maybe the people in Salt Lake should be banned from the next election.

Poor neocons.
They can't even begin to see how they've been duped.
Somebody please | 9:19 a.m. May 29, 2008
tell Rocky the Woodstock days are over. Can't the guy come up with anything more original than the same old Bush-bashing tired stuff? I still cannot, even if I try hard enough, ever figure out how that man got elected as Mayor of SLC? Has that city finally become the cesspool that was predicted?
Josh Davis | 9:37 a.m. May 29, 2008
hmmmnnn... There are a lot of people who don't like Rocky here. Interesting. The man didn't start an unprovoked war. he hasn't suspended habeas corpus. He isn't water boarding anyone. He isn't spying on Americans without warrants. He isn't building new nuclear weapons. His staff hasn't exposed a CIA spy.

You spew your venom toward Rocky, while taking no responsibility for the actions of your president. Grow up.
Bill | 9:50 a.m. May 29, 2008
Rocky abused his power over and over again while Mayor of Salt Lake City. Ask any of those serving close to him who resigned in disgust rather than put up with his abusive harangues.

The libs want discussion of issues? As for Bush, if we lose in Iraq, Muslim terrorism will overtake the world. Despite his other faults, thank heaven we finally found a president with the courage to take on terrorism, instead of dodging it as did Carter (Iran Embassy hostages, 1979), Reagan (Beirut Marine Barracks 1983), Bush I (Lockerbie Scotland Pan-Am flight to New York 1988), Clinton (First World Trade Center attack 1993, Tanzania US Embassy 1998, Nairobi US Embassy 1998, and Yemen USS Cole 2000).
BLAHBLAHBLAH | 10:02 a.m. May 29, 2008
Hey guess what I just found out? The media is liberal biased and are acting the same way as the vietnam war, just minus the wannabee hippies. Listen folks, when you go to war people get killed. Your voice is hatred and anger where the men who are signing up and volunteering their lives are seeing oppurtiinty and success. I can't believe we are still at the age of being shocked that people die in wars. And I love how thse media types spin every thing into their sick webs.
Anonymous | 10:06 a.m. May 29, 2008
Free hotdogs at the park, no wonder all the libs showed up. They think everything should be free!
wyldutah | 10:10 a.m. May 29, 2008
So I guess all of you who are pro Bush must be against human rights and believe in torture.Too bad for our serviceman. Unfortunately if the U.S. torture our prisoner's, we can expect that our enemies will torture U.S. prisoners. I choose to believe in Rocky and for human rights!!!!At leastus Liberal have respect for others and try and promote love and peace. The Pro Bushers seem to believe in promoting intolerance and hatred of others.
Pittakos to Josh Davis | 10:34 a.m. May 29, 2008
There are a lot of people who don't like Rocky here. Interesting. The man didn't start an unprovoked war.

Unprovoked? Unprovoked?! Let's set aside the WMDs for a second here and let's remember how many missles were shot at our aircraft that were only enforcing a no-fly zone that was set up after Saddam capitulated after HIS unprovoked attack on Kuwait. Quite frankly, I was surprised at how tolerant we were.

He hasn't suspended habeas corpus.

Has this been a problem for you? Are you planning something against this country that might harm or kill thousands of people?
Pittakos to Josh Davis | 10:35 a.m. May 29, 2008
cont.
He isn't water boarding anyone.

And the American lives that were saved from the information garnered from these terrorists are probably grateful.

He isn't spying on Americans without warrants.

Yes, this is an everyday occurrence on typical law-abiding Americans. You need to get your paranoia under control.

He isn't building new nuclear weapons.

As has been going on since we developed them. Isn't it nice that we have a weapon that deters some from attacking this country. You probably would be happy if we stopped producing guns also so that the common man couldn't protect himself from an internal invasion.

His staff hasn't exposed a CIA spy.

A desk-jockey.

The only one who needs to grow up is you and Rocky.
To wyldutah | 10:38 a.m. May 29, 2008
The Pro-Rockyers are the ones who promote intolerance and hatred of anyone who disagrees with them. Just look at the message that came from this protest group. Just look at the message that is coming from the whacko-leftists. Ask any of them what they think of George Bush or the those on the right and they will tell you that they hate them. In all my days, I have never seen such hatred from a group of people.

I don't think Ringling Brothers would release them from their contract.
re: Josh Davis | 12:25 p.m. May 29, 2008
The leftists like yourself spew their venom at Bush while taking no responsibility for the actions of your Congress and the failures of the prior president that led to 9/11 and Iraq. Pot/kettle.

I am not a fan of Bush, however the lefts attacks seem a bit over the top. Perhaps you and other libs should read our constitution. The executive branch was set up to be the most responsive but weakest branch of government. The fact that Congress has abdicated its responsibilities is the problem. They have the power to stop/correct every issue the left complains about. Isn't that the platform the Dems ran on 2 years ago? What exactly have they done to correct the problems?

I know a lot of conservatives who blame both the President and Congress for the current problems. For some reason, I cannot find a single liberal who wants to do anything but throw a little tantrum about Bush and be an apologist for the Democratic Party controlled Congress. When you, the other libs and Rocky decide to grow up and start demanding the Democratic party start taking their congressional responsibilies seriously, maybe some of these problems will be solved.
The State of Utah | 12:49 p.m. May 29, 2008
is abusing the peoples rights big time
We have a major problem with jailing the public in cases based on lies by the cops and Judges
To many innocent people in jail for nothing
Rocky is right about Human abuse all over this country
You have no longer any rights

"We won't keep our mouths shut!"

Gee, there's a surprise. We already know you are incapable of keeping your mouth shut, so don't act like your obsessive/compulsive media schlepping is some noble trait. It is what it is.

But don't feel bad, Rocky. You are not alone. Your little man syndrome, addiction to hearing your own voice, and skewed world view are all traits shared by another. Maybe you and Dell Schanze can get together and talk each other back into relevancy again. What an entertaining ticket that would be!
wyldutah | 3:43 p.m. May 29, 2008
gosh you're right I'm so confused-
Killing people in a war promotes peace and tolerance. And being against war promotes hate and intolerance DUH!!!!!!
FYI Rocky never caused anyone to lose their home,or die in an unjustified war,and cause the country to fall into a recession- he must be the devil and Bush the saint -again DUH!!!!!!!
utah? no! | 7:39 a.m. June 16, 2008
Wow, all the lame comments here about how people should not protest, protesters are crazy, etc. I am glad the great state of Utah contains you people there and hope the borders are sealed as you should all stay in that place and never step foot over the border.
