Readers' forum: Demos always blaming Bush

As for the Democratic Congress, it is necessary for the writer to remember that there is not a veto-proof majority that can get every piece of legislation made into law. This comment about a impotent Congress is absolutely absurd when there exists a concerted effort by Republicans to neutralize any progressive legislation that may be brought forward.
Nonetheless, the few remaining Bush/Cheney faithful will continue to see this administration through the rose-colored prisms that characterize the inverted world that is the Bush/Cheney years.
Also, the presumptive Republican candidate for president is attempting to distance himself from President Bush because he doesn't want to be tainted by the negatives that surround the current occupant of the White House.
Vetoes: Clinton - 37
G.W. Bush - 8
"...or stands in Israel and calls those who would rather talk peace than start wars as "appeasers..."
He meant, "you don't negotiate with enemies threatening to wipe Israel off the map without preconditions such as, 'the h*ll you will.'"
"...invades sovereign nations over lies..."
Did you mean Clinton, who invaded Kosovo and attacked the sovereign nation of Serbia?
"...fails to catch or pursue Osama bin Laden..."
Did you mean Clinton, who bombed an aspirin factory and empty tents in the desert in his failed pursuit of Osama?
"...tortures detainees..."
To get valuable intelligence which likely as not saved your buttox.
"...detains people without trials..."
You don't give enemy combatants trials in the US. They're lucky not to have been shot on the battlefield.
"...strips Americans of their rights..."
You mean their right to plan attacks on America?
"...spies on American citizens without warrants..."
Did you mean Texas CPS who not only spied on FLDS but rounded up all the children in all households with a single piece of paper?
Gus correctly pointed out while Congress now has a democratic majority, it's a slim majority and not veto-proof. Thus Bush gets his way until he slides out of office.
But just to refute your comments:
-He meant, "you don't negotiate with enemies threatening to wipe Israel off the map without preconditions such as, 'the h*ll you will.'"-
Why? Why do we have to constantly hold Israel's hand? If they are scared of being "wiped out" then perhaps they should do something about it other than running to us.
-To get valuable intelligence which likely as not saved your buttox.-
I would rather die than support the descent of America to the terrorists' level, where we cease to be any different from them.
-You mean their right to plan attacks on America?-
You mean their right to free speech? Their right to be protected from unwarranted searches and seizures?
It's sad you've been taken in and willingly give up your rights' due to fear-mongering.
Many of us who are against Bush also dislike many Democrats. The defense of freedom from tyranny is not a partisan issue!
Republicans are in denial when they support him.
He's failed on every level.
Reminds me of the saying: "You can always tell the liar by the length of his tale."
When people panic or really have nothing to say, they tend to go on, and on, and on, ...
Is that on a percentage basis? Republicans filibustered 2 of the 3 bills put forth for a 2/3 percentage. The highest in the last 2000 years.
Sounds like you just made that up. Provide some numbers.
That just about sums it up for our Bush/Cheney supporters.
No questions require no answers.
Reminds me of the saying: "You can always tell a Bush hater be the position of his tail - usually between his legs."
"When people ... have nothing to say, they tend to go on, and on, and on, ..."
And this: "When people have nothing to say they usually demonstrate it by having said nothing in their post."
Then out of the other side of your mouth you say Clinton had a Democrat controlled Congress the first 2 years of his presidency and then the Repubs came into office, without a veto proof majority, but Clinton couldn't get anything done because of the Repub controlled Congress.
I'm sorry, but which way is it? Bush is too smart for your Dem controlled Congress and/or Clinton was too stupid with his Repub controlled Congress?
Oh how I love the doubletalk from liberals. Can't deal in facts so make up anything to try to make ourselves look good.
DGB, it's called checkmate!
THERE REALLY IS A GOD!
Nor will his wife be.
"Why? Why do we have to constantly hold Israel's hand? If they are scared of being "wiped out" then perhaps they should do something about it other than running to us."
To show we support democracy and freedom wherever we can find it.
"I would rather die than support the descent of America to the terrorists' level, where we cease to be any different from them."
Then die.
"You mean their right to free speech?"
Tell us how your free speech has been hampered by Bush.
"Their right to be protected from unwarranted searches and seizures?"
Democrats would like the CinC's hands completely tied against terrorists just because of their unrelenting (and unjustified) Bush hatred. Go figure.
"It's sad you've been taken in and willingly give up your rights' due to fear-mongering."
I don't fear mongers. I fear Muslim extremists who have vowed to cause America's (and Israel's) death.
BTW, would you and Anonymous stop watching Keith Olbermann? It really gets old when you spout his rhetoric each day as if it's something that you conjured up on your own....
Also, to all of the liberals, I want a clear answer to this question; What will Obamma do to encourage Americans to be more self reliant? (McCain doesn't have much of anything, but at least he isn't promoting as many new government programs.)
BTW- I'm not a libera. Nice try though.
If he had any facts to dispute. Most of what he spews is vitriol against the Bush Administration. Which will likely continue when McCain gets in.
PS: Have you ever heard him rail on the Dem controlled Congress? For failing to seal the borders and get illegals to go home? Ans: No! Or, to authorize more oil/gas drilling in the US? Ans: No!
And by the way, I notice the Dem controlled Congress loves to grill oil execs for the price of crude while they sit on their hands and refuse to authorize US oil exploration expansion.
Liberals know they are happy. Why wouldn't they be?
Reform, progress and the desire to serve their fellow man would make anybody happy.
Conservatives on the other hand, need a poll or commentator to tell them they are happy. How can they be when they refuse to do anything that resembles reform, progress and the desire to serve their fellow man?
Olbermann has no integrity, none. He just spouts his drivel every night, making up stories and just plain lying to the 4 people who watch his show.
If you aren't aware, and I'm sure you aren't, the top brass at NBC is starting to take notice of the cheap shots he takes with nothing to support his views. Matthews even distanced himself from Olbermann; and that takes a lot for Matthews to say something.
So you just keep believing that Olbermann is your hero while the rest of us know the end of the story. Olbermann will go away just as fast as Obama came on the scene....
Integrity? Thanks for the laugh.
Bill Clinton and Ted Kennedy are to blame. Sure Clinton bought peace to Kosovo by ending genocide by Serbia. Americans are still dying there.
Any claims that Clinton could have stopped Ben Laden are questionable. When Clinton attacked terrorist camps in Afghanistan conservatives didn't support going to war against terrorism because they where blinded by hate.
Bush will be visiting Utah's most powerful leaders. You should greet him. After all, no other president has dome a better job of representing what you stand for.
All that oozes from your posts is hate and more hate. Yes, I bet you are happy and fun loving. Based on your comments, I bet you have no friends. Who would want to be around you all day? no one...
Reform? progress? love for their fellow man? Oh yes, just look at the cities/states that have been under Democrat rule for awhile and let's see their progress and reform.
New Orleans? need I say any more?
Michigan? people are leaving in droves and the governor wants to increase taxes.
New Jersey/California/New York...going bankrupt quicker than one can say "universal healthcare".
There is no progress or reform from liberals unless you call higher taxes, more government-induced income redistribution, less personal responsibility progress and reform.
Sorry pal, but the hurricane already came in and you were left on the bus still in the parking lot sippin' coffee with Ray "Chocolate man" Nagin.
Name 1 success of a liberal claim to reform or progress. Just 1 will do...
It tells me people are really watching and listening and I put watching first because it really tells a better story. Obama has the heart of the people and we can feel it.
One of many laws enacted that made America a better place. A true success in every sense of the word.
The Social Security of 1935
One of the greatest pieces of legislation to come out of the Great Depression.
The Clean Air Act of 1970
The Clean Water Act of 1972
Both came during a Republican administration, but are indicative of good policy that comes when Republican, Democrats, and Independents work together for the common good of the people.
The rancorous partisanship evident in this thread is blinding to cogent discussion. Perhaps the more rabid comments could use some more thought before being immortalized in these pages.
Whenever anything sounding remotely like change, progress or reform is presented to these angry and rabidly hostile types, it most always is "countered" (if you want to call Limbaughism that) with a single catch-all term:
LIBERAL!
I really don't think these poor souls can realize what they've morphed into and it saddens me.
Give me a break with all your whining about this democrat congress not being able to pass anything besides gas.
Congress rating are at a all time low. The last three elections democrats have taken away republican held seats. Who don't voters like?
Eighteen percent of Americans disapprove of the president Rush and Hanity supported. This has ruined the GPO. You still listen to these two.
You remind of of the person who complains about car insurance who haven't figured out it's his driving record.
Example of???: You simply do not understand us progressives. We don't really care if our social programs don't work or that raising taxes actually hurts the economy and the poor. Having empathy for less fortunate people makes us feel so good about ourselves that we don't need programs to be effective. We are liberal! We are good people. In fact, we are better people than you.
Plus, you still can't answer the question "What will Obamma do to encourage Americans to be more self reliant?"
It tells me people are really watching and listening and I put watching first because it really tells a better story. Obama has the heart of the people and we can feel it. "
Too bad that there was a concert for the "Decemberists" a very popular Portland Band that was there at the same time. Did the people go to see Obama or the band?
Who are the real fools? Those who love Obama and are blind to his being phoney or those who choose to exercise their God Given Rights and choose another path that is unpopular with you narrow point of view?
You and I both know you secretly wish you could be more like and as happy as we liberals but forgot how.
Instead you get your daily anger fix listening to divisive diatribes on the Rush (champion of the conservatives) Limbaugh Show.

It's hard to get anything productive done when Bush vetoes or threatens to veto and progressive legislation, or stands in Israel and calls those who would rather talk peace than start wars as "appeasers" (he would know, thanks to grandpa Prescott), invades sovereign nations over lies, fails to catch or pursue Osama bin Laden, tortures detainees, detains people without trials, strips Americans of their rights, spies on American citizens without warrants, and still has the chutzpah to advocate a war with Iran?
What would you have us do - refer to those as accomplishments?
