Do you realize how much money the Movie companies spend when they make a movie in Utah? Its millions every time they shoot and they are purchasing products and materials locally to make the movies which helps local businesses.
Utah has the people with the talents to make movies, but the companies have gone to Canada and to states that have offered them incentives and tax breaks. It is more of a boost the economy when they come to the state and not a subsidy. If you looked into the facts, you'd find out that it is bonus to the state of Utah when they make films in the state and not a drain on the economy. The movie companies need an incentive to come to Utah - which they currently are not getting and consequently are not making many films here as they did in the past.
