It's been a few years since I've followed high school T&F. Since when is the mile not on the program?

Use your metric calculator | 8:23 a.m. May 18, 2008
It's the 1600 meter race now, which is actually about 30 feet short of one mile. This was done to bring the race in line with all the others, which are measured in metric units.

Javelin injury | 8:25 a.m. May 18, 2008
I heard from one of the athlete's parents that a news photographer was injured at the meet yesterday when a javelin went through his leg. Anyone know about this?

never mind ... | 8:31 a.m. May 18, 2008
I saw the article about the javelin injury just now ... it wasn't grouped with the other track articles. That guy's lucky he wasn't killed.

One mile is 1609 meters, but the track is 400 meters long, so they run 1600 meters instead of "the mile."

They just listed Saturday's finals in today's article. Friday's finals (1600 and girls Shot Put) were listed yesterday. Do a little searching.

The mile (aka 1600 meters) and girls shot put were first-day events and printed with the first-day results in yesterday's newspaper and put online yesterday. Pay attention before y'all go spouting off.

Hey guys hold your heads high, state 4 out of 6 years is great especially when you took second the other two. Richfield is the track dynasty of 2A with 12 state titles.

2A boys Dynasties | 2:13 p.m. May 18, 2008
Millard is the Dynasty for football and wrestling, Richfield is a dynasty for track, and Juab is a dynasty at being frequent runner-ups in everything... I'm happy for them to actually win this time! Maybe they can win a title in football for the first time in their history too...

Great job Kiersten Blauer on winning the 1600 and 3200--she also placed 2nd in the 2A 800 with a time of 2:18:75 (this is left out in the article). She was also not mentioned as a runner in the 2A 4x400 team. The team was Blauer, Warr, Robinson, and Harwood.

the guy that got hit by the jav was taking pictures of the poll volt or the discus when he got hit. he was lucky it didnt go through bolth legs. but a guy told him to look out and he stepped back with one leg and the jav. got him in the other leg. It wasent bad it was right in front of the shin. It just kind of looked like a peircing. But he was dang lucky!
