East side residents did not vote. 4% voted and made the decision for the rest
of us. This is so unfair. The ones that made the decision should be the ones
suffering the consequences. I appreciate the west side team protecting their
interests.

4%: So if I get you right...I did not vote, so therefore it's not my fault
the measure went through?

The actual number of people voting in the district split issue was 42,757. That
represents roughly 10% of the entire registered voter population in SL County.
That is close to 50% of the registered voters in the new district, a bit more
than 4%. Once again, rather than engaging in a fact-based, intellectual
discussion, those opposing the split throw out fake numbers and invented facts
in an effort to either scare people or to try to avoid any acknowledgement that
the people in the new district actually thought for themselves and could see
that the district split was the only hope we have in this state of advancing
meaningful reform in the public school system and getting our voice back. There
has been so much misinformation put out by the opponents, but those of us who
support the split take comfort in knowing that as the years progress, the facts
will become known and the results we achieve in our new district will validate
our efforts.
