This is a great idea: U.S. tax dollars for U.S. citizens only. I'm sorry if you feel you should get more for your Filipino wife. Has she contributed to our economy in some way? Probably not, so let's not spend money on foreigners.

Stim- it excludes the American person as well as the foreign born spouse. Also, many of the foreign born spouses are working and paying taxes legally using a taxpayer identification number, but are not yet citizens so they don't have a social security number yet.

You mean an individual file would not qualify?

Anonymous- apparently if they are married and file individually, the citizen can still get the rebate. But most people didn't know that and filed jointly, so neither spouse qualifies.
