Let the LDS church do the pageant every other year. On the off year the Locals can do their own pageant/play/celebration and keep the money flowing in.
Nothing says they can't do their own thing, rent the cemetary and rake in the dollars without the Salt Lake folks watching over everything.

Reducing it to every other year won't work. This pageant is doomed.

I thought Church leaders were "inspired"? This is certainly NOT an inspired decision!

Sometimes we don't know why Church leaders give certain instructions -- like build an ark, gather food storage, or cut down on Pageant performances, etc. -- until after we're willing to obey.
Let's have faith and see what happens!!!

Opportunity Knocks,

Aha! One of the positive, naive people of "faith"!

I have some real estate to sell you. Bishops and Stake Presidents have invested in my program. It is a sure thing. Send me your information so I can contact you! If you just have faith, you can be rich like me!

Ha! Keep your naive faith and I will keep my common sense. Your blind faith will be your undoing. This was a bad decision, I guarantee it. The pageant is done.

I don't say what I said naively -- truly, a lot of experience stands behind what I said.
I understand, though, that we need to study it out for ourselves. That may involve contacting those bishops and stake presidents :-) and asking them to reconsider changign the pageant.
Prepare a list of why it needs to stay vs. why it should go, and be willing to listen to the "studying it out" that they did before they made the decision..
