Too bad these ladies and their lifestyles have become role models for so many, when it only leads to broken homes, divorce, messed up kids and basically unhappiness. Typical Hollywood, they have no clue what true love or happiness really is, they still think it boils down to doing whatever the heck you want to do without concern for consequences, and of course, sex.

Dear Sarah,
Since when is a review anything except opinion or bias? The DNews also knows it's readers and hires writer who can write to them without them canceling their subscriptions. This was a VERY clear review and if you like your movies with air-heads with hinges on their heels then it's you'll likely love this fluffy garbage. And that's a fact.

Sarah did not say anything about cancelling her subscription, and by the way, who said she had one? Online is Free!
The reviews are always like this from Jeff Vice, he has only 1 view of certain movies, and thats ok. Its his opinion, and I can take it or leave it, just like Sarah has an opinion, so do you, but again we can take it or leave it. AND just because Jeff Vice didn't like the movies, doesn't make it air-heads with fluffy garbage!
I wonder if you are so forward in your real life or just save the bullying for message boards.
No matter, just remember Reviews are Opinions, sometimes Bias, and so are comments, but you should at least be alittle respectful and not talk down to ANYONE just because you opinion differs from theirs.

I was shocked that Jeff Vice considers a food fight "domestic violence". I mean, after full nudity and raunchy sex scenes, we're going to complain about flying food? Oh well, I think the entire "Sex" cast acts like a bunch of overgrown, silly schoolgirls anyway. Why not add a "violent" food fight for good measure?

I think it's revolting that anybody would want to watch a show (let alone a movie) that's built around crude talk and softcore porn, and then somehow manages to celebrate that as female bonding. This is definitely one movie I refuse to see.

If a food fight was all that was objectionable about the "Sex in the City" movie or the series--we'd be thrilled. Oh for a day, when that is all you'd have to worry about seeing worthy of comment.

As the title states: "Raunchy 'City' not big-screen ready." It was was also not small-screen ready, except for the raunchy in heart and mind.

The funny thing here is that someone commented about how "Larry Miller" will protect us from the scourge of this movie. The fact that it is playing at his theaters is further evidence of his hypocrisy. He cites his "high morality" for not showing "Brokeback Mountain", yet has no problem showing explicit heterosexual films. Interesting

that many would feel opposed to this "raunchy" film if the characters weren't women? It seems like it's more acceptable for men to act raunchy (in a male way) in film--or at least male raunchiness goes unnoticed (unless its gay acts). I also agree that Miller continually shows his hypocrisy.

Boring. I feel sorry for those that find this kind of movie and theme entertaining(?) I live in NYC and unfortunately there are too many woman (not only in NYC) that are trying to become more raunchy and disgusting .... more like men everyday. I am glad that I am married to a woman (32 years) that wants to be a woman, or more important a lady! Get a grip and get comfortable with who you are and not what the Hollywood want you to be!

You people need to get a life. Living in opressive Utah, you are definitely going to get reviews like this. Sex and the City was a hugely popular television show, and has quite a large following. I loved the series because it explored so many different sides of dating. Many of my girlfriends and I would watch the show, and say "that's happened to me!" I guess people here in Utah who get married at 19 without ever having sex, and immediatly start having children would have nothing in common with this movie.

Welcome to the real world people!!!

Sex and the City was "hugely popular"? By what standard? Ratings for HBO shows are quite different from network shows so I would probably consider "hugely popular" something north of 15 million viewers. S&TC never got close to those numbers. I liked the show BTW.

Still, none of that matters to a movie reviewer who is simply reviewing THE MOVIE. He didn't like it.

Vice actually takes a lot of hits for liking movies that many readers of this website/newspaper find offensive such as "40 Year Old Virgin" and "Knocked Up". He isn't some prude who gives all R-rated films a bad rating.

And one more thing . . . VICE doesn't decide that the food fight is domestic violence, the ratings board lists all the content of the film and Jeff merely passes it on to readers. Blame the absurd movie ratings board.

Hey John, just so you're aware, some Deseret News readers do watch R-rated films. Come to think of it, the last time I renewed my subscription they didn't even ask me about my religious affiliation. I guess they cater to a larger crowd than you think. Maybe you'd be happier if you just removed the Mormom Times section from your newspaper and threw the rest away.

I'm certainly not going to go see this movie, despite my not sharing John's take on things this movie excites me less than any other being released this summer for a variety of reasons, including its questionable content. But, I will say thanks to the Deseret News for continuing to resist the fairly constant requests that I see on these boards and in the opinion pages that this paper reduce itself to nothing more than a source of LDS propoganda.

Yes, Kate, well said! Utahns who have followed the typical LDS path (marry young and virginal, have children soon after) just can't relate to this. That's all just fine, I just wish they wouldn't condemn lifestyles different than their own. I loved the series and am excited for the movie. My friends and I also will often find ourselves comparing things that happen to us to scenes in SatC--and it's not just experiences with dating and sex.

Umm... probably a lot. Way to insult the entire population of Utah. We're not idiots. I can't believe how many ignorant posts there are in here. Let me hit you with some knowledge. Not 100% of Des News readers are Mormon. Not 100% of Mormons follow 100% of Mormon principles. Not 100% of Mormons are completely oblivious to sexual innuendo. I guarantee you that there will be practicing Mormons that will go see this movie. My wife will probably be one of them. I guess that means we're going to Hell right? Well, if stupid is a sin then I guess we'll see most of you there.

The series on HBO was terrible. I can't imagine the movie could be good. The material is all garbage.

Really. Who cares about this movie? Will it be remembered as a classic, does it offer any redeeming value to society? Perhaps, just perhaps it is a non-so veiled attempt to make a little more cash off of an already-tired theme. You should recognize a robbery when you see one...

Not a motivational reason (just to make money), in my mind to make a movie. Even less of a reason to go see one. It seems like that is to lone motivation driving Hollywood today.

Waste of valuable time. Do something worthwhile, please.
