Utah Jazz: Sloan seeking more team-oriented effort

Well I was wondering just how long it would take before we started Jerry ball again. Lets see, starters get a good lead in first few minutes of play, then come out and in goes the bench for a while, slowly start to loose lead, rotate starters randomly and continue to loose lead, watch opposing team starters kick the crap out of our bench, finally in final few minutes of 4th quarter we put our starters back in and expect miracles, but none the less we loose, yep that's called Jerry Ball and every team in the NBA knows how its played, they do not need to watch films of games this year they could watch them a decade ago and see the same plays, the same format and same outcome - yep good ole Jerry Ball, everyone knows it except Jerry Sloan and Larry Miller, WAKE UP, Jerry Sloan is not a championship coach, even he will admit to that so when does Larry Miller wake up and get some coaching talent in there and retire or should I say put Jerry out to pasture with the old nags.

In the playoffs this year the score has turned against the Jazz every minute Kyle Korver is on the court. He can't guard anybody but any NBA player can stand within five feet of him on defense and make him start shivering until he either turns the ball over or takes an ugly shot. He can beat anybody in the world in a game of Horse but in the playoffs the opposing team is generally going to play defense.

Ronnie Price has always been effective but has never gotten any minutes. CJ Miles has gotten less. Why bring your second team guys with you to the playoffs if you are going to only use your fourth team guys?

Hey Boozer... you getting the message? Start driving to the basket and STOP settling for jump shots. And try acting like you care, that might help also

He employs a rigid system using only the point guard and power forward, leaving everyone else to stand waiting.

If you want the WHOLE team involved then employ a system that uses the WHOLE team.

I have never in my life(and I'm 70) seen so many disgusting nit-wits that think they know everything than on this website. How would all of you so-called experts feel if your team was Phoenix, Dallas, Houston or Denver let alone the other bottom feeders in our conference? Get a grip and enjoy the success we have had. This team doesn't in my opinion have the experience and a couple more players that they need to win a championship. Relax to sun will shine tommorrow regardless.

Calling for Jerry Sloan's head simply because we have lost a couple of poorly officiated games, on the road, to a better team, exhibits the small mindedness of the typical, whimsical, Utah sports fan. What a bunch of morons. All the guy has done is take the Jazz to the playoffs almost every year he has coached, with less talent and a lower budget than nearly every other team in the conference. I am quite certain Jerry Ball, Use Your Whole Bench, "BigJazzFan" and How about a Coaching Effort are the exact same geniuses that said Jerry Sloan's style of coaching was outdated and that he couldn't win without Stockton and Malone. Luckily Larry Miller has a little more sense and sticks with his tried, true and loyal coach and drags all you whiner "fans" into the playoffs every year.

Enough about Jerrys coaching ways. Please would someone in the Salt Lake Media (Deseret news) or the Jazz organization please step up and go public with how horrible the refs have been in this seires this is a joke it is so frustrating to watch I cant imagine how the players feel playing agianst these refs. Phil Jackson says all of the time how bad the refs are and doesnt get fined and belive me the refs read the paper and watch the news it helps the Lakers more than you think. Someone please step up and go public with this horrific officiating and let David Stern and his boys know that we know. If Jerry wanted to really do something that is what he would do what is a $50,000 fine to Jerry when he makes $5 million a year take the fine Jerry. Boozer you make double of Jerry if you cant help on the court at least give the media something to get in the refs head take the fine and lets see if we cant get a few calls. 46 to 16 in free throws is just down right cheating.

Matt in Dallas has it right, Boozer has fallen in love with the 15-18 foot jump shot which ain't working. Test the market for his trade value this summer and give Milsap a chance to start. I also agree that officiating has been horrible even with Stern in attendance. Of course that does not matter because the league wants a Laker Celtic final and it doesn't matter how they get there.

Jerry this, Jerry that, refs did that, refs did this. Please People! Fortunately, not all Jazz fans whine like a pig before the slaughter. Complain about Sloan as much as you want, because your missing the mark Haters. Your so very right though, it starts with the coach(jerry ball at last), but when do players need to start taking responsibility for their weaknesses-(i.e.BOOZER!)
If you get paid superstar money, then you had better figure out how to play like one. If you have an injury, SIT DOWN and let the other guys handle. Boozer hurts this team way more than he helps it right now. Fans that blame Sloan are just completely ignorant. In addition, if you can come up with a few better coaches that are available, then maybe you have something. Other than that, go whine in Houston. I wonder if McGrady and Boozer are secret best friends, because they sure do have the same interests in the NBA playoffs?

Sloan is an amazing regular season coach and will go to the Hall of Fame for sure. He is probably as good a coach as a team in a small town in a small state can hope to get. That being said, he is not using his best players in the playoffs this year. Last night Kyle Korver get more minutes than everybody but Williams, Kirilenko and Okur. Korver is probably the worst player on the Jazz. Tivo the game and watch him play and then tell me if you still think Korver belongs in the NBA. (Korver family members excluded)

Your comments are ridiculous. Where do your stats come from. If your tivo works rewind it and if you know and watch and understand basketball you will see Korver in game #2 was doing some great things--passes, rebounds ect. You must be watching Harpring my friend,cause it sure wasn't Korver.

Sure the refs were bad, as expected in LA. They will probably be a bit better in Salt Lake, though I am sure Kobe will get all the phantom calls he is used too. Let's face it, you couldn't have expected the Jazz to win games 1 or 2 in LA. Game 1 to LA because they were rested up and watching film on the Jazz a couple of days earlier than the Jazz could on LA. Game 2 to LA because due to the messed up playoff scheduling, LA got an extra day in their home town going into the 2nd game, benefiting LA. Utah's only chance in this series is to hold their home court, and somehow steal game 7 at the Staples Center. No point in blaming Sloan for this, or harping on Boozer or Korver for that....LA was supposed to win the first two games at home versus a weak road Utah Jazz team. Let's see what happens tomorrow and Sunday, and then go ahead call for Jerry's head, complain about the refs and call out Carlos Boozer for his sub-par playoff performance, if we lose games 3 or 4, and inevitably the series.

If the refs really wanted to cheat they would call stratigic fouls on particular plays but when they are calling fouls the way they have, it is obvious the Jazz have a problem guarding the Lakers. No ref is going to throw a game and make it so obvious. The Jazz are fouling becasue they cannot guard Laker players without fouling.

Is it humanly possible for you to come up with any more excuses than you already have. I do believe the stars were in line with Jupiter just two hours before the game which gave the Lakers a huge advantage since the pull of the moon that night made the Jazz miss their shots.

The only thing is that like holding in football, you could call a foul in basketball on every play. Not to mention, with all the flopping that is involved in the NBA, it does give refs an opportunity on almost every play to make a call on one team or the other. And we all know about some of the unsavory and unscrupulous characters that are NBA refs. Sure, they are usually not the predominant factor that determines the outcome of a game, but once in a while they are, and it seems to be usually not in the Jazzs' favor when that is the case.

Bomar has more sense than most on this message board. Trying to boot Sloan is stupid. Utah fans have been more spoiled with success than any small market team in the history of the NBA. Every year small market and large market teams do the annual musical chairs with their coaches. We are fortunate to have had stability and great successes almost every year since Sloan has coached. I get sick of seeing teams like Cleveland that can only play one on one basketball.

As for Bomar, he has pointed out that the Jazz are not getting the play that they have paid for from Boozer. It has never been whether he was capable, it is whether he his willing to put forth the effort. Boozer, it is now time to walk the walk, not just talk the talk..... If not, lets see what we can get for him in the off season. Milsap has shown that he deserves more playing time, maybe even starting....

For all you people who want to change coaches. Let me use the "L" word for you. That means lottery every year. Sorry, no max pay free agents will ever come to Salt Lake. You think Lebron would have Salt Lake on his radar no matter who the coach is? How about Dwight Howard or Kobe? Jerry Sloan has made Utah a championship contender year after year. I am guessing most of you complaining would rather be a fan of one of the 22 teams whose season is over.
