Logan parents to vote on dress code

this is stupid and i am sure most parents are too! if this passes i will be surprised but not so much in utah. most parents are the ones to buy there clothes anyway so why is this being an issue? your attacking the parents judgment and not the child so why should the child suffer?

jason, I find it humorous how you impose a level of intelligence on the inanimate and then apply the same judgement to a group that you probably don't even know. There are several reasons for such a proposal and if you would talk to the people who proposed it instead of jumping to conclusions based upon your own biases, you might learn something. Also, have you tried a spell/grammer checker?

This discussion on school uniforms has been going back and forth in Davis County for years. I think it's hilarious when I hear parents say that their child won't be able to show his/her personality in a uniform. So basically they're saying that their child doesn't have much of a personality without all of the trendy clothes.

To those of you who don't like the term "uniform," keep in mind that a school uniform doesn't always mean khaki pants, a button shirt, and a blue blazer. It simply means that the kids wear the same thing, whether it be dark pants or a certain color T-shirt.

And in response to Jason, yeah, I do attack the parents' judgment for letting their daughters dress like streetwalkers and their sons dress like gang members. Those aren't parents--they're enablers.

Jason's best point was the one he made without meaning to. When our kids cannot even write a coherent sentence, it's time for a change. Our public schools have evolved into mere social scenes where education has taken a less important secondary role. The system is not broken, only misdirected. Most of the teachers in our schools are perfectly capable, passionate, and qualified, but their effectiveness is being hindered by factors that are out of their control. When many parents fail to see a problem with the social aspects of our schools, such as the lewd dress by both girls and boys, the schools must then step in and do whatever they have to do in order to reestablish an appropriate educational atmosphere. We need to get back to a point where we focus on education and let the kids �express their identity� on their own time.

We have a similar dress code at our junior high school in SLC, and it has been good. We like it. I don't know if it has helped grades or not, but the environment in the school feels better.
