Agree, keep it out | 8:51 a.m. May 6, 2008
Let foreign nations store their own N-Waste; if they can't handle their own waste, perhaps they shoud not be utilizing the science -- poor planning on their part should not be our problem [again]. We have enough on our hands with what N-waste we produce on this contenant.

So does anyone remember Proposition One that would have increased the rates and allowed more regulation of this? Energy Solutions spent millions in the campaign to defeat it largely based on lies and misinformation. As a state, we in Utah bought it hook line and sinker. It was defeated and now, the very thing they said would happen should Proposition One pass, is now pushed by them. How's that for lying to get your way?

Have we really run out of space to make new holes? If the italians want to pay someone to take their waste and burry it, what is the big deal...you would think we were back in the 50's - NUCLEAR is not the code word it was in yester year.

Let someone else dig a hole and pay someone else to take care of their mess. Or would you be okay with my digging a hole in your backyard and burrying my garbage there? I'm sure you have room for it, what's the big deal? I'll pay.

Dear Energy Soltions:

The great people of this great State have overwhelmingly voiced their opposition of your desire to import foreign nuclear waste and store it in our beautiful and treasured lands.

The Governer and several legislators of this great state have also voiced their opposition to your plans. Experts in your very industry agree that this waste you want is bad for our great state.

Continually telling the great people of this great State how stupid they are because they "don't understand what's really going on" is not going to help you get your way. Neither is whining like a little brat and filing suit to waste more of our tax dollars when you don't get what you want. Plastering your name across big buildings won't make you any more popular either.

We, the great people of this state have spoken. We don't want your foreign waste. If you like Italian waste so much, maybe YOU should relocate to Italy.

Geeees! folks how are they going to pay for putting their name on the old Delta Center? Give them a break they are only trying to get rich. We all knew this would happen, so what's the gripe? Although it was nice of them not to ask for damages.... don't you think?

Everyone is afraid of the idea of what radioactive waste is. Do some research people we are not in the cold war any more. The processes and equipment used are way beyond what they had back in the day.Nevermind that Utah's economy has been tapped into this industry for over 20 years. Where were your complaints then? I say bring it on. Not only will it be good for the industry but it would be good for the working people as well.

They are going to fill the storage facility with grade A waste... we know this. So why does it matter where the waste comes from? It's going to come, it's going to be filled. Why not let an American company benefit in the process?

@RE;Holes: If I already had a hole in my backyard and was filling it with trash from my own house, why wouldn't I accept your money to allow you to throw some of yours in there...

When you consider at least a third of the state of Utah is radioactive naturally and has been for billions of years, I don't see the problem. The waste will be contained on site. Maybe the people of Utah should wake up and realize there is a bigger problem with what's going into the Colorado River naturally (radioactive soil) with run-off. I think Energy Solutions has made a great and generous offer to the people of Utah to help them get through a tough economic time. And what's the deal with being offended by it coming from Italy? Italy is part of th earth, and we are all in this together whether we realize it or not. If the time comes we run out of oil and there are not enough fuel alternatives to fill the void, we may all need to change our lifestyles and go back to handcarts and wagons. We will only have ourselves to blame. Handcarts and wagons worked for the pioneers. The residents of Utah who protested the offer will be OK with that, however, because they will have a good headstart of knowing how to survive poverty.
