'Oh, to be a boy' on 'American Idol'

To say that David Cook is a poser is a very harsh statement, especially when he may not be someone's favorite. Please research and watch the show before writing such a comment. Yes Cook used three other arrangements and made them his own, it was clearly stated on the show as well. Don't they all cover covers? He also solely rearranged Hello, Always Be My Baby and All I Really Need Is You. Why is it that people bash an idol's clear thread in order to put their favorite first? I could say bad things about all the idols, including little Archie, but that's not my style. I rather let the contestants shine on their own merit or collapse for that matter. And David Cook has proven to be the best of the bunch, and all polls (those where someone cannot vote thousands of times) clearly show Cook is the overall national favorite. And for very good reasons.

No one was bashing Cook - the reporter was just reporting what his daughter thought. Everyone has their own opinion and she thought what lots of people think, actually. Although very talented, Cook is just one or many.

I am happy Brooke made it as far in the competition as she did. I think that Brooke, Jason and David are the most unique contestants IDOL has ever had. There is a really "COOL" article about David by Doug Robinson today in this paper as well. What a great example he is.

I have been kinda desirous to watch my first episode of Idol this season but after reading some of the articles on here over the past few weeks and reading the comments I have no desire what so ever to watch it. Even just looking at the picture of those 4 finalists turns me off to the show. If the names weren't listed under the picture and the article didn't say there was only one girl I would think that Jason is a girl. he looks like one. If I had a daughter I wouldn't want her to date any on of those boys. I have been disgusted this season with the judges, the reviews, the fans, and even some of the contestants and I will never watch an episode and I hope the shows comes to an end quickly.

What a nice article about Brooke! I have agreed, this season, that often the judges' comments haven't coincided with what I've seen and heard. (And I nearly spit out a drink of water after reading your comment about Paula's statements!)

I agree that this year might have been harder for the girls. Before Brooke's elimination, I voted for her and Jason occasionally, but mostly for David Archuleta. He's been my first choice all season, and I'm going to have a ton of fun supporting his career.

I rather see Syesha stay in this competition then David Cook, I am so tired of the judges propping him up, he is in no way an American Idol in my view!Rock music is what I listen to, but David Cook is far from original. David Archuleta's style isn't what I am normally used to, but I will buy his music.

cook is a poser in the way that he presents himself. The clothes, hairstyle, etc are all like what you would expect to see out of the popular bands. His singing wasn't being judged, only his appearance.

I really enjoyed reading your article about Brooke. I really liked Brooke and I hope she will continue her dream of singing. I will buy her cd's. I loved what your daughter said about David Cook. I actually feel the same way about him. He's just like all other rockers, but i guess that's okay if your in to that kind of music. I muyself prefer David Archuleta's voice and music far above David Cook's. Just my thing I guess!

I would just like to point out that this american idol has given me a lot of hope. This season should be one to last for a long time. And if someone doesn't like it, no one is making you watch it. SO DON'T. Simple as that.

I wonder why Jason is still there.He doesnt deserve to be, he should have been eliminated ages ago.

I think its great people have different musical tastes, and our differences are part of what makes the world go around. However, to say a contestant is unoriginal or a "poser" is unfair since the format of the show is that they have to sing covers. I'm sure Mr. Cook would love to showcase his original work, but that is not the format of the show. Mr. Cook has done a brilliant job of setting himself apart from the others and still staying within the parameters the show format. We are only seeing a small part of who Mr. Cook is. If you don't like Cook's singing or arrangement, that is completely valid, but to say he is a "poser" is unfair, since he HAS TO SING COVERS. Mr. Archuleta has a beautiful voice, and I enjoy his ballads, but Mr. Cook is a better musician, and knows how to work the stage. Also, I think Syeisha does not get the credit she deserves at all. She's great!

Lindsey you can see anything on YouTube and hear it all on the radio. I have heard enough to know that the show is not worth my time.

Not worth you time?! You have to be kidding CJ. American Idol is the best EVER! So go and watch some sport show instead. And let the people who love America Idol have fun watching what they like.

I am with CJ on this one. I have watched american i-dull and have just been less impressed every season. I wish they would find muscicians and not only singers. They need better judges too. It is becoming less and less attractive and I hope Lindsey you can get your mom to drive you to Murry to see David. Hopefully she can take time off work to drive you

If it's so "dull" why are you commenting? You sound like some little high school kid that just got out of school and has nothing better to do. Especially since you can't spell 'Murray' and you aren't clever enough to know that David A. is in California. They pretty much have the contestants under lock and key.

For your information Jake i'll drive myself, thank you very much. I hope that one day you get on American Idol and find out how hard it would be to sing your heart out. People like you and CJ just don't understand the inspiration like David can give someone. Mindy understands just like I do, that American Idol gives people hope. Frankly, you and CJ make me sick. All I have to say is GO DAVID WIN!!!!!

Don't go and drag me into this! I was more of saying that it gives me hope that one day I can show my talents. Not that American Idol the show gives hope, just the singers and their daring to do what they love. Lindsey freak out why don't you.

I was really sad when Brooke White left American Idol i cried its just she is a big ball of sunshine and her songs explain her personality but oh well she got a record deal!! oh ya
