Representative James Mastheson is just "out of touch" as the democrats seem to like to say. Just listen closely to their rhetoric about taxes, immigration, social security funding, and world-wide issues relating to international relations. I hope someone will come along to oppose him in the election to unseat him. He says one thing to the constituents in Utah, and then goes back to Washington, D.C. and falls in line with the likes of U.S. House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and her lieutenants. This is at least a moderate Republican state....there are too many liberals in both parties here in Utah.

By the way, who is Matheson backing....Obama or Clinton for president? We never hear what his views are, either in the state or nationally. For my part, he needs to be voted out of office. He does not represent our values by being a democrat. Democrats today are extreme liberals, and have strayed from the old democrat plantation of pre FDR politics.

Wow, are you ill-informed!

"I hope someone will come along to oppose him in the election"? Uh, that process is in mid-stream and there are no less than 5 options on the Republican side.

"He says one thing in Utah...goes back to Washington and becomes a Democratic lackey"? Matheson is not only a leader in the moderate Blue Dog Coalition, but he consistently ranks in the top 5 of Representatives who votes across party lines.

"...there are too many liberals in both parties here in Utah"? Are you joking? Liberals in both parties? Is your version of a liberal someone who drinks Diet Coke or who may, on occasion, have a sympathetic thought regarding environmentalism?

"We never hear what his views are"? Are you kidding me? Seriously? Dude, you've got to read a newspaper periodically (no pun intended). Matheson is 5x more active in constituent interaction than Cannon or Bishop, who are just shy of ineffective.

"He does not represent our values by being a democrat"? Are you implying that the best Democrat is worse than the worst Republican?

I am a Republican. I support Matheson. I have a brain. 'Nuf said.

Unseated
Let's not forget the covered parking for them was more important than the health of the people
This is Utah in action

It is too bad that you can't admit that our local legislators are out of touch with the people. I guess we are going to have to work even harder to unseat these corrupt politicians that vote against the will of the people and restore our democracy to its former glory. Fanatical right-wing political supporters are now trumping their own personal values over the democratic process. This just reaffirms what history has taught us: Those in power will do anything to stay in power.

No. Utah sees a major earthquake every 350 years. Last one? 350 years ago.
